Chapter 92
Annabelle balled her fists so hard her knuckles whitened; she wished Julian really would squeeze Elena to death.
“Brother, you don’t know what she whispered in my ear last night!” Annabelle wailed. “She said… she said she’d take revenge, the every ounce of pain she’d endured she’d return to me double. So she struck today!”
Adaline’s eyes flew wide in shock. “How vicious can you be!”
Elena demanded, “Annabelle, what proof do you have that I uploaded the video?”
Julian snarled, “Proof? You think I can’t find any? The estate has cameras. Once I pull the footage we’ll know how Annie got into your room and who else stepped inside.”
“Elena, you’d better pray I don’t see your face on that screen!”
Elena pressed her lips together; if Julian really checked, he’d learn Simon was behind everything and that she’d met with him alone.
She wasn’t afraid of them finding Simon’s name; none of them could afford to offend him.
But she knew her family’s temper–unable to touch Simon, they would vent their fury on her and dump every sin at her feet.
A servant hurried in. “Young Master, the reporters outside have all left.”
Julian nodded. “Understood.”
He spoke to Annabelle in a gentle voice. “Annie, I’ll head to the hotel and pull the footage right away. Rest at home. If Elena truly did this, I won’t spare her.”
With that he shot Elena a venomous glare, grabbed his car keys, and stormed out.
Elena rose as well. “I’m going to work.”
Even at the office, unease gnawed at her. She wanted to call Simon but didn’t have his number,
After a moment’s thought, she decided to make a trip to the estate.
Cloudsea Resort
Julian arrived at the front desk and stated his purpose without preamble.
The clerk led him to the surveillance room, only to find the recordings from the past two days had vanished.
Julian’s brows crashed together. “Where’s the footage? Who deleted it?”
The clerk looked just as baffled. “I have no idea, sir. No one here touched the system.”
Julian’s expression darkened. “Those files can’t disappear for no reason. Someone tampered with them while you weren’t looking.”
“Has anyone else reviewed the footage in the last two days?” he pressed.

The clerk phoned a coworker; moments later she had an answer.
“Mr. Bennett, I’m told a young lady came this morning to check the cameras.*
“A young lady? Name?” Julian asked.
“I’m not sure,” the clerk said. “She claimed she’d stayed here before and lost her phone, asked us to trace it on the videos. Her 10 said her fast name was Bennett. She really was a guest.”
A flash of ice shot through Julian’s eyes. “It was her after all–she’s the one who wiped them!”
Rage flooded his chest; he wanted nothing more than to tear Elena apart.
He spun on his heel and strode away.
Behind him the clerk called, “Mr. Bennett, perhaps you should at least look at today’s footage–maybe-”
But Julian was already gone, his car pointed straight at Bennett Corporation.
Barely had he left when Elena arrived at the resort.
She rushed into the lobby. “Was a Mr. Julian Bennett here just now asking for surveillance footage?”
“Mr. Bennett left moments ago, Miss Bennett. Is something wrong?” the clerk asked.
Elena’s heart sank. “What did he find?”
