Chapter 140 - The World Turns
Chapter 140 - The World Turns

Corvan POV

I slipped down the narrow staircase beneath the castle, and the stone was still humming with the lingering vibration of repelling the devil. The air was cold and metallic, and tasted faintly of old magic. The torches flickered as if nervous.

They were already waiting for me.

Five demons, each wearing a shape that resembled a shadow of a man more than a man himself. Their eyes glowed like coals buried under ash.

I stepped forward and inclined my head. “Your help kept him from tearing through the wards. For now.”

The tallest of them grinned. “We are not fans of the devil, Corvan. Consider us… rivals who prefer him locked far, far below.”

The others nodded in eerie unison.

“His return would ruin the balance,” another added. “We have our own games to play and he has no part in them.”

I crossed my arms, and my pulse was steady. “And my soul? Still yours to claim if I fail.”

The leader tapped his clawed fingertip against the air, amused. “Keep that soul safe for us. You promised, and we enjoy our promises tidy.”

One of the smaller demons winked at me, a shimmer of wicked humor passing through the air like heat. “Besides, we need you alive. Your little infiltrator act is far too entertaining.”

I stiffened and forced my expression not to change. They always knew too much.

Before I could ask anything more, their bodies began to fragment into smoke, curling and peeling away from the ground in silent swirls. One by one they vanished into the cracks between worlds.

Silence reclaimed the chamber. I exhaled slowly.

Repelling the devil had drained me more than I wanted to admit. The sigils on my arms were still hot from channeling blood magic. But it worked. The world above was safe, at least for tonight. The children were safe.

And if the devil came back? I would be here. Not for Sahiyra or her perfect little kingdom. For my own long game.

I turned and headed up the stairs, and my boots whispered against the cold stone. The castle was quieter now, and wrapped in a kind of exhausted relief. I made for the guardian wing, ready to collapse in my room and regroup before dawn.

I did not sense the eyes that followed me.

I did not hear the soft shuffle behind a corner as I turned down the corridor.

I never saw Lyrien pressed into the shadows, with her hand over her mouth, watching me walk away with confusion splintering through her expression.

And I did not know that the first crack in my disguise had just been born.

Lyrien POV

I should not have been there.

I knew that even as I crept down the dim corridor, following the strange tug in my chest. Something had pulled me, a whisper of unease after the devil vanished, after Sahiyra was carried away by Greyson and the rest of the men.

Maybe it was instinct. Maybe it was fear. Maybe it was the goddess inside me waking up again. Either way, it led me to that stairwell. To that chamber beneath the castle. To Corvan.

I pressed myself into the shadows, barely breathing, as I watched him stand before five demons. Real demons. Their shapes twisted in torchlight, strange and ancient with eyes like embers.

My first instinct was to run up and blast soothing magic everywhere like an idiot. My second was to scream.

I did neither. I listened. Corvan thanked them.Thanked them for helping repel the devil. My stomach dropped as understanding crashed into me.

He had made a bargain. A soul-binding one. For us.

For Sahiyra. For the babies.

The demon leader stepped close, and his sharp smile gleamed. “Keep that soul safe for us. You promised, and we enjoy our promises tidy.”

I covered my mouth with shaking fingers. He did it willingly. Corvan sold his soul for Moonveil. For the children. For Sahiyra.

I felt my eyes burn.

When the demons finally dissolved into smoke and vanished, he stood still for a long moment, alone in the quiet. Then he turned and left, and his expression was unreadable.

I flattened myself farther into the shadows until he passed, missing me entirely. That was good. He did not need to see me, not right now. Not when I had just realized what he sacrificed.

Because to me, it was clear. Corvan was not a threat.

Corvan was devoted. Fully, and painfully devoted. Enough to throw away his own afterlife without hesitation. Enough to bleed for this realm and never ask for a thing in return.

Trade your soul to protect the goddess and her young? Saints above. That was loyalty in its purest, most brutal form. Anyone else would have bragged. Shown off. Asked for praise.

He hid it. He hid all of it. I wiped my cheeks, realizing I had started crying. Then I spun on my heel and rushed back up the stairs, with my heart pounding, and my skirts brushing stone.

No one needed to know. Not Sahiyra, not the beasts, not even Derrick or Rhys. This was Corvan’s burden, and it was not my place to betray it.

He had saved us tonight. He had saved the babies. That was enough for me. By the time I burst back into the warmth of our chambers, Derrick and Rhys looked up sharply.

“Lyrien? What happened?” Rhys stepped toward me.

I forced a shaky exhale and shook my head. “Nothing. Everything’s handled.”

They searched my face, but I smiled, soft and steady, and let them gather me close.

Some secrets were not meant to be shared. Some sacrifices deserved to stay unspoken.

And Corvan, soul damned and still standing loyal…

He had earned my silence.

Sahiyra POV

Greyson laid me in the center of the bed like an offering, and the moment my back hit the sheets the last of my fear burned away. Only hunger remained, raw, aching, and so very alive.

I looked up at ten pairs of eyes glowing with the colors of storm and fire and midnight, and my voice came out steady despite the tremor in my thighs.

“If this is our last night,” I said, “then ruin me. Every single one of you. I want to feel you for whatever comes next.”

Greyson’s answering growl was pure possession. “Yes, my queen.”

He stripped in three economical movements and climbed over me, caging me with his massive frame. His mouth crashed into mine, devouring, and claiming, while his cock, thick and scalding, slid through my soaked folds.

“Sir,” I gasped against his lips. “Please..”

He thrust in to the hilt in one brutal stroke. I screamed into his kiss, and my back bowed as he stretched me wide. He fucked me hard and deep, with his hips snapping, and every drag of his cock lighting me up from the inside.

“Look at me,” he snarled.

I forced my eyes open. His were molten and focused on me.

“You are ours,” he said, punctuating each word with a thrust. “Alive or dead, you are ours.”

He slammed home one last time and came with a roar, flooding me so full I felt it leak out around him. I followed him over, clenching hard, and crying his name like a prayer.

He kissed me once more, soft and reverent, then pulled out and moved aside.

Jaxen was already there, and his eyes were wild. His muscles rippled as he flipped me onto my hands and knees, and his hands gripped my hips hard enough to bruise.

“Hold on, baby.”

He drove into me from behind, in long, punishing strokes that slapped skin on skin. I shoved back to meet every thrust, moaning brokenly.

“That’s it,” he growled, spanking my ass. “Take me. Take every fucking inch.”

I came again, sobbing, and he followed with a guttural curse, pumping me full.

Kylen caught me before I collapsed, rolling me onto my back and hooking my knees over his shoulders. He slid in slowly, with his eyes locked on mine.

“I love you,” he whispered, then started a deep, grinding rhythm that rubbed my g-spot mercilessly. I clawed at his back, babbling his name, with tears of pleasure streaking down my cheeks. He kissed them away and came with my name on his lips.

Syrik lifted me next, settling me astride him reverse cowgirl. His hands guided my hips as I sank down, both of us groaning at how deep he went.

“Ride me, princess,” he ordered.

I did, hard and fast, with my tits bouncing, and my head thrown back. He reached around to rub my clit and I shattered, squirting all over his cock. He flipped me, drove in twice more, and spilled inside me with a hiss.

Ryvale laid on his back and pulled me on top of him, and we were chest to chest. He entered me slowly, and his eyes never left mine.

“Feel me,” he murmured. “Feel how much I love you.”
I rocked on him, slow and filthy, until we were both shaking. He came with a broken groan, and his arms crushed me close.

Torren scooped me up, pressed me to his chest, and impaled me standing up. My legs wrapped around his waist as he bounced me on his cock, and he was hitting so deep I saw stars.

“Torren...gods....fuck...yes...”

He snarled, spun, and pinned me to the wall, fucking me through another orgasm before flooding me.

Maku and Poku moved as one. They laid me on my side, Maku slid into my pussy from the front, and Poku eased into my ass from behind. The stretch was overwhelming, and perfect.

“Move.. please,” I begged.

They did, slow at first, then faster, alternating strokes until I was mindless, and coming repeatedly in endless waves. They bit my shoulders at the same time and came together, filling me so full I felt it in my damn throat.

Brannock waited until I was trembling, then pulled me into his lap facing him. He entered me in one smooth glide, and his hands were gentle on my face.

“Look at me, my gorgeous goddess.”

I did, with tears in my eyes from the sheer intensity. He made love to me slow and deep, whispering how perfect I was, and how much he adored me, until we came quietly, clinging to each other.

Finally Kory, my sweet, wild Kory, flipped me onto my stomach, yanked my hips up, and slammed home.

“Mine,” he snarled, fucking me like a storm, spanking my ass, pulling my hair, and marking my skin with his teeth.

I screamed his name as I came one last time, and my body shattered, and magic flared brightly enough to light the room. He followed with a roar, and collapsed over me, his arms shaking. For a long moment the only sound was ragged breathing and the soft sound of eleven hearts beating as one.

Greyson’s hand found mine in the dark.

“We’re not done living,” he said quietly. “Not tonight. Not ever.”

I turned my face into the pillow, smiling through tears and sweat and the ache of being utterly, and perfectly claimed.

“Good,” I whispered. “Because I plan to love you all for a very long time.”

Ten mouths found my skin at once, kissing, soothing, and promising.

Outside, the world could burn. I would cherish every moment spent like this.
