Chapter Eighteen

Chapter Eighteen

Amara

"You look stunning, ma'am." Kayla said to me as I stepped out.

It had been really exhausting for me as I had done all this impromptu. But I did not mind because one thing I was certain of was the fact that the look of horror on Alpha Isaac's face when I started intimidating him would be totally worth it. Even if I would still have to keep Dera away from the public eye, I was going to make certain that everyone that had caused her pain had to deal with me and my wrath. I got ready now and exited the office as the driver started off to the hospital. Doctor Mars would be waiting at the parking lot as those contraceptives were really important to me. I was really happy when we arrived and she was already there. I had the window brought down and she handed it to me. She had seen how I looked and was really amazed.

"My oh my, you look astonishing." She said to me and I smiled at her, thanking her as I took the drugs and put it in my handbag.

"Thanks, doctor. I'll be in touch." I said as I rolled up the window and then the driver started leaving. She was waving at us.

My personal assistant had come along as I decided that she should wear the other outfit instead of having to go there all alone. At least, I could bring her out to have a view of what the auction looked like. How badly I wished that it was Dera with me but for now, Kayla would have to do it. She asked me if I was unwell and I told her that it was for someone else. She needed not worry about a single thing. She was satisfied with the response and so, instead of having to stay silent all through the ride, I asked her to read me my itinerary for the next day. This was really something that I enjoyed as we ended up rescheduling some and moving some up. This was with regards to the appointments that I would be having.

When we arrived at the venue, I gave my name at the entrance and we were allowed inside. The driver dropped me right in front of the huge mansion and I alighted. Everyone took a moment to turn and stare at me. The men were smiling and I could see the ladies glaring at me with hate and I was amused. I imagined what they would have done if I had Dera here instead. Perhaps, they would have gone all crazy and cranky because my friend was indeed the prettiest petite thing there ever was. We were all being welcomed and the moment I started walking inside, I noticed that a couple of them were smiling at me but I did not take any notice.

"Wow, lovely. Who's she?" I heard a guy say but I could care less about him.

More were whispering and some even asked if I was married. Well, none of them could dare approach me because they knew that the look on my face was definitely not inviting. But then I heard someone call out excitedly to me. It was the wife of the host and it had been ages since I had seen her. Last time was when they came to my pack for my mother's funeral anniversary. But I never really fancied the woman. She was a friend of Cassandra, a woman that I dreaded even though she was my aunt.

"Amara. I was really surprised when I saw that you acknowledged. How are you doing? You're all grown and definitely really beautiful." She said to me,

"Thank you. I thought I should come take a look at what the fuss really is about actions. I just hope that I'm not disappointed." I said to her,

"Of course not. Don't worry. Allow me to introduce you to some of the guests." She said and then tried to reach out for my arm but I was not having that.

"Um, I'm not really interested in mingling. I just want to attend this function and be gone." I said to her,

I knew most of them had been eavesdropping and the look in their eyes told me I had just disappointed them all. Well, I could care less how they feel because I hated all of them. I mean, none of them struck me as a good person and I did not find any worth my time. She smiled when she saw I meant it and did not bother to convince me. I could tell that she was already used to my already well known rebellious nature and that I always did what I wanted. So, she told me they would be starting soon enough and then went to welcome more people.

I leaned over to Kayla and whispered in her ear that I wanted to spot which of them was Alpha Isaac and I needed her to go pretend to chat. If she was asked, she was to tell them that I was her cousin.  She already could tell this was important to me and immediately went away to start mingling while I remained where I was as I waited. Now I was alone but they would still not try to come. After sometime, Kayla returned and told me he was the one who just arrived. I pretended to be turning as I looked at him and I marked his face. So that was the bastard that had been tormenting my friend all these years. He did not impress me one bit. In fact, I was disgusted by his presence and the only thing in my mind to do right now was make him cry for the pain he was causing her all along.

He would hate himself soon enough because I was definitely here to embarrass him definitely.

Soon enough, we all started going inside and had been given numbers. I took note of his own and found Kayla and I a seat. It was one where we were behind him by two rows and I definitely could see his reaction. The auction started and I started bidding my time. None of the items really caught my attention because we had better things in my house. My father has been a collector and he has always done his best to turn our home into some sort of mini museum.

But I had to wait and then there was this beautiful necklace. It was adorned with lots of gemstones and I thought it would be a beautiful fit on Dera. But then, Alpha Issac suddenly made a bid on it and I knew it was game on. When he spoke, I noticed that no one seemed to counter him. It was clear that they had this fear for him and I was not flattered. So, I raised the bid and everyone turned to look at me. Even Alpha Issac was stunned to have heard someone bid on the same item. He turned to me and I could see the anger in his eyes when he noticed that I was a woman too. This provoked him and he turned as he raised the bid.

I smelled it and I went on to move it higher. He started speaking again and soon, it seemed clear that there was a tug of war going on between us two as neither of us was ready to back down and I did not care. I just continued and when I got bored of hassling, I decided to triple his bid and he gave up. He lost that item to me and somehow I could tell he would approach me.

There was no more sound from him and I knew that he felt insulted. I did not care and saw through the auction.

Kayla and I were outside and I asked her to go bring the car around when I caught his scent approaching. I turned to face him as he stood there with one hand in his pocket. All eyes were on us.

"I'm Alpha Isaac." He said to me,

"I know that." I responded, refusing to introduce myself to the pathetic fool.

"Well, you are the first person in a really long time to challenge me when I bid and I believe you're new around here." He said.

There it was. His vain ego.

"Really? I thought this was a public auction where everyone is allowed to hassle and bid?" I asked him.

"Sure. It is. But I really wanted that neck piece." There was intimidation in his tone.

"As did I. Which is why I own it." I responded.

He scoffed and started a rather weird annoying laugh that could probably tell me that he was pissed.

"Okay. Well, I still want it and I'd like for you to give it back." He said.

"You must be full of yourself. I'm not giving back what I got fair and square. You could have outbid me." I responded.

"Yes but I didn't want you to go off losing all your money. I was being considerate." He said.

"Well consider this. The necklace is mine." I responded.
