Revenge time

Electra POV

I stood frozen, my mind reeling from the shocking revelation. Knoxville and Maxwell, brothers? I never saw that coming. Their contrasting personalities baffled me - Maxwell's calm demeanor versus Knoxville's explosive temper.

Memories flooded my thoughts. When I first met Knoxville, he seemed just like Maxwell - composed, charming. But that facade crumbled, revealing a manipulative, cheating heart. He used me, betrayed me with my friend, and discarded me like trash.

A chill ran down my spine. Their family's history painted a disturbing picture. Knoxville's father, a philandering man who cheated on his mother with his secretary, spawning Maxwell. Was this toxic behavior ingrained in their DNA?

"I made a mistake calling him my boyfriend," I muttered.

My lips trembled, bitten hard to stem the emotions.

I had lied, of course. Knoxville was my ex-husband, a secret I dared not reveal. Better to keep it hidden, avoid the messy truth.

My eyes wandered, lost in thought. Had I escaped a familial curse by divorcing Knoxville? Or was I just lucky to be free?

"I don't want to get involved in this, I want to move on," I said, trying to convince myself. But memories came flooding back - Knoxville's betrayal, his cruelty, and deception. How he blocked our joint account, leaving me stranded and penniless. How he cheated on me, shattering my trust and heart.

My mind seethed with resentment. "He has to pay," I hissed, biting my lower lip to contain the emotions. A part of me yearned to let go, to heal and move forward, but another part, fueled by anger and hurt, craved justice.

Then, like a bell tolling in my mind, I recalled the seer girl's words: "You have a complicated fate. Make use of any opportunities that come your way." A sly smile spread across my face. The absurdity of it all struck me. Fate, it seemed, had a wicked sense of humor.

I burst into laughter, the sound echoing through the silence.

"So this was the fate she was talking about," I mused, a sly smile spreading across my face. "A complicated fate, indeed - betrothed to my ex-husband, and his half-brother asking me out." I stood up, my eyes glinting with determination.

"It's very complicated, isn't it?" I said, my voice dripping with sarcasm. A wry smile plastered on my lips.

"Maxwell, I'm sorry," I continued, my tone turning cold. "I don't want anything to do with your family, but you'll have to become a pawn in this game now. I need to use you to get to Knoxville."

My apology was hollow, and I knew it. "I'm sorry I became inconsiderate," I said, my words laced with insincerity. "But I really don't want to get entangled with such a toxic family. I only want to use you now."

My eyes flashing with a calculated intensity. "You're my ticket to revenge, and I won't hesitate to take it."

My phone rang, shrill in the silence. I picked up, a sly smile spreading across my face.

"Hey Maxwell," I said, my voice dripping with sweetness.

"Are we still meeting today, or are you not going to make it?" Maxwell asked.

I chuckled, my mind racing with plans. "I'm definitely going to meet you," I replied.

Maxwell scoffed on the other end. "Alright, I'll be expecting you," he said.

The line went dead. I hung up, my smile growing wider.

Little did Maxwell know, our meeting would be the beginning of his entanglement in my web of revenge against Knoxville.

I was ready to use him, and nothing would stop me now.

As night descended, I stepped into the familiar restaurant where Maxwell had invited me. The warm glow of the soft lighting and the aroma of savory dishes enveloped me, calming my nerves.

Spotting Maxwell already seated, I quickened my pace. "I'm so sorry for being late," I apologized, feeling a flutter in my chest.

Maxwell's eyes sparkled with amusement. "I knew you'd be late," he teased, his lips curling into a playful smile. "It's becoming a habit, isn't it?"

We both burst into laughter, the tension dissipating. I took a seat across from him, feeling at ease.

"Traffic was a nightmare," I explained, shaking my head.

Maxwell nodded sympathetically. "No worries, you're worth the wait," he said, his gaze holding.

An uncomfortable silence hung in the air for what felt like an eternity before Maxwell broke the stillness.

"So, did you mean what you said about me being your boyfriend?" Maxwell asked, his voice laced with curiosity and a hint of vulnerability.

I took a deep breath, buying time to gather my thoughts. Emotionally, I wasn't ready to take this step, but my motivations were complex. I wanted to use Maxwell to get to Knoxville, to exact my revenge.

"I'm sorry about that," I began, choosing my words carefully. "But I really think we should date. However, I'm not sure if I'm fully ready for this."

Maxwell's face lit up with a radiant smile. "Really!" he exclaimed, his eyes sparkling with excitement.

He leaned in, his voice taking on a conspiratorial tone. "I've been hoping you'd say that"

My heart skipped a beat as our gazes met. For a moment, my ulterior motives faded into the background, and I saw the genuine enthusiasm in Maxwell's eyes.

"But," I added, injecting a note of caution, "You know I been hurt before, and it's hard for me to open up."

Maxwell's expression softened. "I understand," he said, his voice filled with empathy. "We'll take things slow. I'm willing to wait for you to be ready."

His words wrapped around me like a warm embrace, making me question my true intentions.

"So did you mean we can date, and you will understand me" I asked, and he nodded.

"I'm willing to take this journey with you," Maxwell said, his eyes locked onto mine. "But first, I want to apologize."

I furrowed my brow, curiosity piqued. "What's this about?"

Maxwell's expression turned somber. "I felt terrible when I found out my brother was the one who broke your heart. I promise not to do the same thing."

His words caught me off guard, a mix of emotions swirling inside. No one had ever taken responsibility for their family's actions or shown such empathy. And moreover he's not even his spokesperson.

"I am sorr

y, I can't take the apology. You're not his spokesman, let's focus on our relationship" I said.
