Chapter 26

Chapter 26
A Week Later.

Ava giggled at something Nox whispered into her ear, her smile displayed rows of pearly white teeth and pink gums. The two of them were on the second floor overlooking the valley the pack lied in. It had been a little over a week since she was taken here, there were no signs of Bloody nor a word from him. She was worried, yet disappointed thinking maybe he wasn't even trying to look for her. Somewhere in her heart she hoped he would randomly appear and take her, but simultaneously she wants to stay by Nox's side.

From the incident years ago, to her encounters in the City, she always thought werewolves were cold-blooded heartless creatures. It was they who killed her half-sisters after all. However, being with them she realized wolves aren't as bad as the public make them out to be. And their way of living is truly admirable.

“Darling,” Nox brushed his fingers against her cheek. “You've been staring into the distance for quite sometime now. Is there anything wrong?”

“You guys are... Amazing. Being here, I feel like I've been living in a different world. Everything is so calm, peaceful and.. Gosh, I never thought I'd end up loving being here!” she stood up from the brown leather couch and walked forward. Her fair fingers rested on the wooden railing as she ran her eyes over everything below. “It's magnificent.”

Wave nodded and smiled. Happy that his mate liked the way he was living.

“Ava.”

“Hmm?” she sucked her bottom lip between her teeth and chewed on it.

“Tonight, we will be going for a run. It's a full moon night. Tomorrow, we will be moving back to the official pack grounds.”

“Where?”

“Somwhere in Oklahoma City.”

Upon hearing that she pivoted on her heels to face him. That place... Where she was born? The place where she grew up? The place in which she found her mother and boyfriend having oral sex? And her stepfather being the father of her sister's first child? That place, of all places?

He immediately sensed her reluctance. He stood and walked to her, his big hands raised to take her round face between them.

“Ava, I know you've had some bad memories there and you most likely don't want to go back. But hear me out, the original pack is found somewhere where no one will be able to locate it. Unless you know the area by heart. It is also not as safe here as you think it is.”

She listened to his words with an understanding heart. In the end, she sighed and looked away. Pondering on whether or not she should agree. Then she thought of something, did he delay leaving for a week because of her? Most likely.

“I-... Yes, I'll go with you. But can we wait a few more days? I at least have to say goodbye to my only friend.”

“Well–”

“Hey Alpha!” from the first floor Fritz looked up at the pair, a grin on his handsome face. “It's gettin' late lovebirds, the boys are preparing to leave by five. The ladies and kids are wondering if they could borrow the Luna in the meantime?”

Nox glared at him, but a grin soon claimed his face. “You little prick. It's up to her, not me.”

“Uhh...” Ava looked down at Fritz, then at the group of women and children to his left, then back at her mate. “Sure, if that's alright with you.”

He chuckled. “Of course, and you, Fritz, is in charge of watching her. If anything goes wrong I'm nailing you to a cross.”

“Why don't you go choke on a chocolate bar?” he counter attacked.

“Isn't chocolate poisonous to dogs?” Ava cocked her head.

“Exactly, miss beautiful. And we all know Werewolves ain't nothing but childish, oversized, overdramatic dogs. So of course if they eat it they'll die–” Nox was down there beating him up already. “Woah woah! Ayo wait! I was kidding!”

“Hey! Don't believe anything he says he's lying!”

“Now Nox, you know damn well–” Nox put his arm around his neck and held his mouth shut with the other.

Ava laughed at their playfulness and came down, by the stairs. “You guys are cute.”

“And you're hot,” Fritz got free and flicked Nox off, jealously took over Nox and he was gonna attack Fritz again but he bolted into the forest cackling like a madman.

Ava walked up to Nox as he childishly glared into the distance. “So... I'll see you later?” she batted her lashes and pushed back some of her hair.

The Alpha looked over at her, his eyes went up and down her much smaller frame. He smiled and nodded in agreement. He walked up to her, rubbing the back of his neck, something was on his mind. From his actions it was clear he either wanted to do or say something, yet he was greatly hesitant. A pinkish tint on his cheeks was evidence of his underlying shyness as well. Ava's soft smile widened and before long she dashed into his arms, jumped up and latched onto his torso then clumsily kissed him on the cheekbone.

To say the least, he was taken aback.

‘One kiss is all it takes, to fall in love with me–’

‘Shut up, Nathan.’

‘You shut up.’

‘Are you back talking me right now?’

‘Yeah, the fuck are you gonna do about it dickwit?’

‘You little fur covered brat–’

Ava grew concerned seeing Nox just stare at her and do nothing. “Waverly?” her voice was feather soft and held the sweetness of honey.

The argument with his wolf ceased and he gazed into her precious green gems. He smiled at her, his right hand moving to hold her nape. His head cocked to the left and all of a sudden his smile was gone, replaced with a lustful look as he took in the sight of her succulent lips. Wave ran his tongue over his own lips, then leaned in and claimed hers. This was no normal kiss. Electricity zapped through them so much Ava had to pull away, she swore she had been electrocuted.

“Is that...”

“The Mate-pull? Yes, it wants us... Well, It's telling us to do much more than kiss. But I want to take things slow. There's no need to rush things since you're already mine,” he winked.

Ava blushed and Nox took the initiative to kiss her, sparks once again flew but neither would stop this time. Nox held her waist with his strong arms, she clung to his body with her legs and pulled his face closer with her hands. Her fingers softly rubbed the back of his neck while her other hand stroked his bicep, Nox–and Nathan–loved the way her fingers felt. Both imagined how her hands would feeling roaming over the body they shared while in the throes of passion.

Just imagining what she would look like moaning under them made them aroused. If Nox didn't pull away he'd skip the whole process and fuck her right then and there. So, he reluctantly pulled away.

She smiled but secretly didn't like the loss of contact. She slid down his body and gave him a final hug before running off with the people who called her attention.

····

After spending the evening with the women and pups, Ava hurriedly showered and was led into the surrounding forest by Storm. She noted how good he looked, and young, she inquired about his age.

“I'm thirty, Luna. Werewolves live to see up to four hundred years, but I am a Lycan so my life expectancy goes all the way to eighteen hundred. But the whole species stop aging in their twenties, some in their late teens.”

Since she already learned about most things in the pack and about Werewolves, this piece of information was added to the mental notes she took. And then it dawned on her. Everyone around her were werewolves who could live for centuries, while she was a human. While Nox would look as fine as ever in his seventies she would be old and wrinkly. The realization broke her heart. But then she brushed it off, if that was the case then all she had to do was spend enough time with her mate.

In the forest they reached a clearing where the men were shirtless and the women were clad in thin and near see-through dresses. No one wore shoes. Stepping out from the crowd was Nox, and boy was he bulked up. He greeted her, held her hand before facing his pack members.

“Wolves and She-wolves, it's that time of week again where we let go of human tendencies, instincts and etiquette to be who we truly are. What are we?”

“Werewolves!” they howled in unison.

“Exactly. So let's run wild and feel that wind through our fur!” all the people went on all fours and began turning. Some jumped onto trees and in a split second jumped down and were wolves.

Their bones broke and rearranged, they shed their skins to reveal brilliant fur coats. Hands and feet morphed into paws, noses enlarged to become snouts, teeth elongated to become sharp canines. It was fantastic. Ava couldn't believe what she was seeing, she couldn't believe she got to witness something like this!

When everyone was done they didn't wait, they dashed between the gaps in the rosewood trees and howled alongside the blue jays that cursed at the other birds around. Only Nox, Storm and Fritz stayed around. The Alpha layed down and let her climb onto him, she held his fur tight and soon they were bounding up the mountain side like there was no such thing as tomorrow. The trees on either side of her were blurred and her body jerked as Nox skimmed up the mountainside. The howl of all the wolves seemed never-ending but it was the most beautiful sound she'd ever heard.

Tears threatened to fall.

At the top of a mountain was another clearing. The firm earth was covered in lush green grass, and here they could see the sun setting just behind Imperial City. The sky was painted in pink and purple with little white dots. All the wolves laid down to just take in the sight, and a sight it was.

Nox–well actually Nate–nudged her and she sat down, he placed his head on her lap. Ava smiled with a full heart and played with his head. As the sun swiftly sank and the sky darkened, she thought of two things: How she wished this moment could last forever, and if Donatello could've seen this.

Little did she they'd meet again sooner than she thought.
