Chapter 184
AMELIA
Father, help me protect my people.
With all my strength, I ran with the sword on my side gripped by both of my hands. The director aimed at me, swinging it right into my neck. It was merely an inch away before he could separate my head from my body. All my hopes were slowly fading away.
I sucked in a breath. Chills ran down my spine as I ducked, deflecting the blow, and slammed my foot on his knee as hard as I could.
When I heard a crack, I knew I had broken it, and it would slow him down a little bit.
He shrieked in an animalistic kind, and he staggered and fell on his unaffected knee. Then I stood up and screamed as I jumped high to point the tip of the sword on my neck, but I missed it. I stabbed it on his shoulder while he swung his sword around.
Then he twirled his wrist before I could pull out the sword from his shoulder, piercing the skin on my arm.
I hissed in pain. Then I smelled more blood and felt it dripping from the cut down to my hand. I drew a deep breath so I could heal fast. I watched him alter his movement on his left shoulder.
“Guys, shift!” I ordered them.
I was surprised they followed me even with their alphas around. Growled erupted and thuds rolled.
At least fifteen werewolves shifted into their wolves, except Lucius, and the elemental ones.
Before the director could make a move, I took a new fighting stance with my sword held high. Tightening my grip, I lunged forward, driving the force of my power into the blade, and aimed it into his gut. Then I took a step back when the wolves charged at him.
When my skin tingled, I asked Lucius, “When is the last sign? I can feel him changing.”
Even if the director was a demon, there was still the blood of the Nephilim in his veins and somehow, it bound to me, that it was just a manifestation of him getting stronger.
“Wait before that body dies. He will change.” He gripped my shirt and tore the seam off. Then he wrapped it around my cut. Once he was done, he looked at me and cupped my head. I felt my heart swell when he kissed me on the forehead. “You can do it, angel. This is your destiny.”
I nodded a with tight smile. “I feel like you’re still holding back info, Lucius, but thanks for the vote of confidence.” I just finished my words, the rumbling shocked us both.
“That’s it, sweetheart. A dormant volcano was about to erupt.”
I was about to say something when a huge growl roared. I watched the wolves being thrown away.
“Oh, Goddess.” I gasped as I stared at the director began changing.
My heart thudded almost making it difficult to catch a breath. His ripped clothes were shredded. Every part of his body began to bulge, growing, his muscles popping, bones cracking, and his head began to form an animal face. He grew taller so quickly. Every step he made, shook the ground.
Another growl roared. This time came from behind me. My eyes bulged out as I stared in awe at Ryden’s bigger wolf, coming to my side, walking in flame.
“Showing off much.” Lucius snorted.
Ryden snarled at him before he ran towards the growing demon.
“Ryden, no!” My jaw dropped.
“He’s gonna get himself killed,” Lucius muttered.
Narrowing my eyes at him, I snapped. “Don’t say something like that!”
“Zarah, Samarah! Ready for the gate!” Lucius yelled at them before I followed Ryden.
I was so glad Samarah healed and got her power back. I didn’t know how Zarah did it, but I was beyond impressed.
He lunged at the demon about ten feet taller and still increasing its size. The witches began chanting a containment spell to trap the demon, who now had grown the horns of a goat, but somehow, it was immune to their spell.
As the ground began to shake again. The demon had transformed into a malevolent being. Its skin eroded from its body, dripping its flesh as it got even gigantic.
With each step it made, it set the ground on fire, leaving bloody corroding mucilaginous footsteps in its wake. Its slanted eyes were fiery crimson. His fingers were shining in dark sharp claws.
“Holy shit!” I skidded to a halt and called Ryden. “Stop!”
The demon just flapped its monstrous wide wings, similar to a bat. Too late for Ryden. My heart nearly stopped as its wing slammed into him, hitting his wolf hard, and landing him far in a thud.
“Enoch, if you still have power left for me, I could use help now,” I said as I took a step back when the demon started to stalk me.
I’d never been so scared in my life until now when I knew when and where I was going to die. I was sure with the big holes in his nostrils, he could smell my fear.
“This is so unfair, dude. How can I fight against you when I’m the size of an ant?”
It flexed its arms and growled up in the sky in an ear-splitting cry, making me grimace. He just showed us how weak and pathetic we were and how powerful and strong he could be. His voice echoed like a laughing giant walking through mountains if it even made sense.
I didn’t have any options left to fight against this being. I’d never fought a giant before let alone a demon as tall as a tree with a fire burning on his body.
“Guys, I’m so sorry if I let you down.” I jabbed my sword on the ground and kneeled before the demon.
And he just laughed that came from within his chest. I guessed he couldn’t talk anymore, only in an echoey muffled voice.
Then the demon said, “Too late to bow down. I don’t have mercy for someone like you.”
