Chapter 182

Chapter 182
RYDEN

My limbs quaked in exhaustion. Every inch of my body ached. I had cuts everywhere, splinters in my skin, blood dripping from my forehead and my arms. I lost count of how many times I flew away, dropped, and dragged, and I couldn’t even get close to the demon.

He was far stronger than I’d ever imagined. Knowing that he had Amelia’s face, he could have taken her powers, too, if it was even possible.

Margaret’s power couldn’t even match with his. She tried harder and managed to throw him away, but he came back stronger. I didn’t know what to do anymore.

Ren, Nora, and everyone didn’t make any difference either. I lost him in Ren’s tornadoes, but knowing that the storm had formed because of his presence, it was useless, and my fire wolf fighting a demon from hell? It would only burn the skin and regenerate itself in seconds.

I looked at Lucius. His expression was pained, and he dragged his wolf to stand in exhaustion. We were all exhausted, and nothing could beat that son of a bitch.

Amelia was really gone. I couldn’t connect through her thoughts and our pack link. I was both fighting for her and for the pack, and losing her didn’t help me in my strength to fight back. The only hope I had left was our handfast still intact. I knew she was still alive somewhere, and with her resilience, she would find her way back to me.

“Are you tired? We barely even started!” She even smiled.

It was terrifying to see a demon in my Amelia’s body. How could I unsee this? How could I see Amelia without thinking of this demon?

I closed my eyes briefly. “You’re not Amelia. You’re just a low-life bitch Lucifer’s slave! My mate will come back and send you to where you belong!”

“Aw.” She gave me that mockery look of sympathy. “But where is she now, huh? She’s dead. She’s probably the latest meal of my legions. The legions out there were far bigger than the elephant. How could she survive in five minutes?”

“You underestimate her capability, bitch!” Nora said.

She laughed. “Wew. Your father was once my bitch, your mother, too, bitch.”

She angered Nora even more. Nora raised both hands to lift water from the ground and threw it at her. She just took another shower, and she was just standing there, grinning at us.

Ren gathered his wind power and formed a ball of wind, slamming it to the demon, and dragging her toward the crack.

“Guys, let’s roll out!” We ran in his direction, forcing her into the crack.

“Nora once he was down there, flood him until he drowns.”

“It won’t kill him. We still need the sword!”

“Well, shit, Nora. She doesn’t have to know!” I looked at Lucius, running beside me. He shifted in the air as soon as we were merely ten feet away from the demon. Then he jumped and I jumped, formed my hand into a fist, and punched the demon in the face while Lucius kicked him in the chest. “Nora, Ren, let’s form!”

“What form?” They asked in unison.

“I don’t know. We stand beside each other and unite our powers!”

“We still lack earth,” Ren said the obvious.

The demon fell into the crack. We stared at each other hoping she wouldn’t survive the fall. But to my disappointment, she did. She crawled out like a spider back to the ground. It was terrifying.

“Now!” I summoned the fire element. My skin heated and felt the energy rolling in my body. While I was literally on fire, I formed a huge ball of fire while Ren was trapping her in his violent destructive vortex of wind. Then Nora circled her with water. Then I tossed the fire up from the top funnel center of the windstorm. With Ren’s help, it created a wildfire.

Margaret used her magic by forming a pentagram in the air. My guess is she was trying to open the gateway to hell. “Guys, when you’re ready!”

“Ren, take her to the gate!”

“On it!” He was exhausted, too, like everyone. With all the strength he had left, he pushed the trapped demon towards the pentagram as it began to form a wormhole surrounded by a ring of fire, sucking anything surrounding it.

“You can do it, Ren!” I watched the hole pulling the vortex into it. Halfway to the breach, I walked closer, raging fire against the son of a bitch. What I didn’t see coming was that broke our last hope when she managed to grip the ring and climb her way out.

The demon jumped towards Margaret.

I sucked in a breath as I stared at her jabbing her black claws into Margaret’s chest, ripping her heart out. I fell on my knees as I lost the last hope we had left.

“No!” Lucius growled, and howl tore off his throat.

“You think you can send me back? Powerful witches had tried, and they failed.”

“Oh, no. Margaret.” Nora cried. “You’re the only hope of getting my father’s soul. This is not happening!”

“Oh, dear. Is that so?” The demon stalked towards Nora. “You could have just asked me.”

“Fuck you! We don’t need your help.” Theia walked in limply. The cut on her thigh was big. “Once my best friend gets out of your hellhole, she will kill you! I promise you will suffer a great long painful death!”

“But where is your best friend now, weakling?” Her eyes narrowed at Theia as a smile formed on her lips. “You must be so jealous of them. I mean, they have all special powers, and you’re just a pathetic dog.”

“Hey! You bitch! You’re surrounded by dogs. Why don’t you show your true face and let’s say who’s pathetic?” Guston was wounded along with Drak and Bryan, but they had started to heal.

Guston’s pack’s disadvantage though, once they shifted, they lost their protection from the demons, so they had to stay in human forms, unlike us, we were protected, wearing a sigil, and Lucius had another one from the Shaman.

“Aw. Then you’ll have a nightmare. Isn’t it a little fun as you tried to hurt this body?” She gestured to Amelia’s face.

“You’re not her. That’s not even her true body. Why don’t you cut it?” Ren challenged her. “I want to watch you bleed, demon! You’re nothing but a slave.”

“Well, too bad because I like this body, strong little a Nephilim.”

“Oh, God!” Zarah just appeared with Samarah, kneeling before the dead body of Margaret.

“How is she alive?” Nora asked.

“I’m glad she is.”

“You’re late, witchy-witchy,” the demon said to her which she ignored.

“I’m so sorry, Margaret.” Zarah hugged her dead friend and cried.

Samarah began chanting but the demon wasn’t even bothered. “A duke of hell.”

“Which one?” Zarah left Margaret’s body and stood beside Samarah.

While waiting to know the demon’s name, a bright light appeared behind Zarah, and the rift formed, splitting apart.

“That’s Bune!”

I gasped and found myself smiling. “Amelia, is that really you?”

“Where the fuck have you been?” Zeph asked his sister, both mad and relieved.

“How did—” the demon asked, seemingly shocked.

“Well, bitch. Get out of my body and show me your fucking true face. You’re ugly dragons and human face. Isn’t that your true nature? Nice try trapping me by the way, but guess what, I didn’t come alone.” Amelia faced the demon and She gestured behind her. “And I just killed your giant insect, bitch!”

“That’s my girl.” Lucius laughed.

“Excuse me?” I glared at him.

“Our girl, then.” He was still smiling.

“Over my dead body.” I snorted.

“Your wish was about to come true if she didn’t come back.”

“Very well, then.” The fake Amelia changed her face into a man, a tall handsome man in his forties with brown hair.

“Holy shit.” Lucius’ mouth gaped.

“Who’s that?” I asked Lucius.

“That’s Enoch, our father-in-law’s face,” he said proudly.

“He’s nothing like the statue.”

Amelia scoffed. “Do you think I won’t kill you even if you have my father’s face? Nice try.”
