“Come on—beg!”Giselle’s voice echoed around the room, sharp and cruel.
A young female crawled on the cold marble floor, a leash wrapped tightly around her neck like a chained dog. Her eyes were swollen from tears, her lips split and bruised from the countless slaps she had endured.
“Are you deaf?!” Giselle screamed, her voice breaking into a high-pitched shriek. She tossed her glass cup at the ground, shattering it into glittering shards. The sound echoed through the silence.
A manic laugh escaped her lips as she looked down at the trembling female “I’m sorry…” the woman sobbed, her hands pressed flat against the cold floor, too terrified to look up.
“Sorry?” Giselle repeated with venom. Her cruel smirk twisted into something darker. She stepped closer, her heels clicking against the tiles. Then without hesitation, she pressed her stiletto heel into the woman’s hand.
A scream tore from Emily’s throat, echoing through the room, but no one came. No one ever did.
Behind them, Giselle’s manager, Freya, stood frozen, her head bowed. She knew it was only a matter of time before Giselle turned on her next.
“You tried to steal my role.” Giselle’s voice dripped with disgust. “You think you’re worthy? just because you won one award?”
“I—I would never…” Emily gasped, her voice trembling as tears streaked down her bruised cheeks. Blood smeared her hands where the heel had pierced her skin, yet she dared not move.
It wasn’t the first time Giselle had beaten her. And deep down, Emily knew...it wouldn’t be the last.
Ever since she joined EST Entertainment, her life had been nothing short of hell. At first, she thought being chosen as Giselle’s personal assistant was an honor. Giselle, the nation’s beloved actress: elegant, charming, adored. But the truth behind the mask was something monstrous.
She’d seen the temper, the obsession with control, the sadistic pleasure in others’ fear. Emily had tried to escape once. She was punished worse than ever before. The threats that followed made her too terrified to even think of running again.
Then, when fate gave her a small victory, her first acting role....Giselle’s jealousy turned rabid.
The day Giselle returned from her vacations, Emily’s welcome was a slap so hard it sent her crashing to the floor.
“How dare you try to replace me, you street rat!” Giselle had screamed.
Emily had turned down offers since then, just to keep herself alive. Until one major agency demanded her, not Giselle.....for their next production..
“Please, I’m not competing with you,” Emily cried, mucus and tears running freely as she begged.
Giselle only laughed, grabbing a fistful of Emily’s hair and dragging her across the room. The sound of fabric tearing filled the air, Emily fought weakly at Giselle’s wrist, trying to break free, but Giselle’s grip was iron.
She threw Emily to the floor like trash, making her hit the ground hard, gasping for air.
“Eat that,” Giselle hissed, pointing toward the shattered glass glittering under the light.
Emily froze, horror dawning on her pale face. “I—I can’t…” she whispered.
Giselle’s laughter turned angry. She grabbed Emily by the neck and slammed her face toward the sharp edge of the glass; the jagged glass pressed dangerously close to her eye. Emily’s breath hitched....this could be her end.
“Please! Don’t!”
Freya suddenly moved forward, clutching Giselle’s arm. “Stop! If anything happens to her, we’re finished! Think of the agency, who would take you if they found out?” she pleaded desperately.
Giselle’s nostrils flared, fury burning in her eyes, but slowly, she released her grip.
“Who else would want me?” Giselle whispered, her voice venomous as she turned toward Freya.
Freya stepped back, trembling. “I—I didn’t mean......”
SLAP!
The hit was so hard it sent Freya stumbling to the floor. Her cheek burned, her eyes stinging with tears.
“I didn’t mean it,” Freya whispered, immediately falling to her knees, her forehead pressed to the ground. “I’m sorry, please…”
Giselle smirked, flicking her hair over her shoulder, that cruel smile curling again on her lips.
Then, without warning, she lifted her foot and pressed it onto Freya’s head—hard. Freya’s muffled cry echoed as Giselle increased the pressure.
“People like you disgust me,” Giselle murmured, grinding her heel into the back of Freya’s skull. Blood trickled from Freya’s temple as she struggled to breathe.
Emily could only watch, frozen in terror. Her body refused to move.
But the door suddenly burst open.
Everyone froze.
A staff member stood at the doorway, pale as death.
“What?” Giselle barked.
“T-they’re here… to sign the contract with you. They don’t… need Emily anymore,” the staff stammered.
The words made Giselle’s lips twist into a delighted smile. She slowly withdrew her foot from Freya’s head and turned toward the mirror.
With deliberate calm, she wiped the blood splatters from her face with a handkerchief, adjusted her hair, and smiled sweetly.
“Perfect,” she said softly. “Let’s go.”
Her heels clicked as she walked out, leaving the two broken women behind.
When the door finally closed, Freya exhaled shakily, walking towards Emily with wobbling leg...she helped Emily to her feet.
“Let’s get you to a hospital,” she whispered. “We’re safe… for now.”
Later that day, in the glittering conference room of EST agency, the marketing director laughed heartily.
“Giselle is a star, any movie project with her involve will explode in ratings,” he said.
Mrs. Sulli, smiled. “We know. She’s much more… composed than Emily. That girl had the nerve to reject our offers. Such audacity for a newcomer.” she spat her smile widened as she sighted Giselle walking forward..
Giselle entered gracefully then, every inch the goddess they believed her to be—poised, elegant, untouchable.
“Mrs. Sulli, welcome,” she said, her tone honeyed.
Sulli smiled, whispering to her team “She’s perfect.”
Then she laughed lightly. “She’ll be a fine substitute.”
Giselle froze, the smile on her face faded for half a second.
“Substitute?” she repeated softly.
The marketing director chuckled nervously. “Of course not, Giselle! You’re irreplaceable.”
Sulli continued, oblivious to the tension. “She’s talented, yes...but Emily… she had those big eyes, that heart-shaped lips perfect for this role. Giselle’s look is sharper, colder—it’ll take more work for the makeup artists. Still, she’s skilled. We’ll make it work.”
She said signing the contract with a smile.
Giselle smiled through gritted teeth. “Of course,” she murmured....
When Sulli left, the smile vanished completely.
“Substitute?” she repeated again, this time her voice dripping with ice.
The marketing director tried to laugh it off. “She didn’t mean it, Giselle—”
But Giselle was already walking away. “Bring my cooler to my dressing room,” she said to a passing staff with a smile that didn’t reach her eyes.
The staff shivered in happiness feeling graced upon by Giselle smile., If she only knew who she truly was, she wouldn’t dare admire her.
DRESSING ROOM...
Her phone buzzed and she picked it ip “Yes?” she answered sweetly.
“Get ready,” Carter’s voice said through the line. “You’re going to be the face of Lorenz.”
Giselle’s eyes widened, her heart raced and her lips curled into a wild grin.
“What?” she gasped.
“See? Your boyfriend delivers,” Carter teased.
Giselle laughed, ecstatic.
Finally, her fame was stretching beyond her wildest dreams.
