Chapter 210 I Love Violence
Chapter 210 I Love Violence
Kira’s POV
But even as I said it, confusion swirled inside me as we moved further out with the warriors.
Can I really fight against my own father? I’d missed the better part of my life with him because he was rotting in a cell Adrian and his father threw him into.
How will he feel if he sees me joining the very people that destroyed him to fight against him? The thought made my stomach twist.
Leah’s voice was firm in my head. ‘You’re the Queen of Draven now, Kira. Your loyalty lies with your mate and your kingdom. With our family.’
The sound of the approaching rogues grew louder…massive paws pounding the ground, getting closer and closer.
Our own army took formation around us, a wall of wolves and armed fighters under the glaring lights.
Tension crackled in the air as warriors shifted restlessly, claws out, eyes glowing. The night smelled of pine, sweat, and impending violence.
Adrian squeezed my hand tightly and all my doubts ebbed away in that single touch.
Leah was right. My family is right here now.
That's all that matters.
Leah was snarling inside me like a caged beast, crouched low, muscles coiled tight and ready to rip through anything that threatened us.
I could feel her pacing restlessly in my head, fangs bared. ‘Let me out if they want war. I will gladly protect our family.’
I swallowed hard, deeply hoping it wouldn’t come to that. Please don’t let it be my father. Please.
Adrian’s hand tightened around mine again as we stood at the front of our formation, the night air thick with anticipation. The ground vibrated under our feet from the approaching horde. Then suddenly, Adrian stiffened.
“Something’s wrong,” he growled.
He turned sharply to Thomas. I looked between them. Both men wore the exact same expression…lips curled back, eyes narrowed into dangerous slits.
Then, in perfect sync, they scrunched their noses like they’d just walked into a sewer filled with week-old corpses.
I frowned, confused, until I took a sniff myself.
The scent hit me like a slap. Rotting flesh, decay, and something sour and unnatural.
My stomach turned but I fought back the urge to throw up.
This wasn’t the scent of my father’s people the last time they came. Their smell had been wild and earthy. This…this was pure rotten flesh.
Adrian’s grip on my hand tightened almost painfully. He gave Thomas a single, sharp nod and before I knew it, they’d already rearranged the entire battle plan through the mind-link in seconds.
Thomas raised his fist and gave a quick hand signal.
Every warrior around us threw their heads back and howled…a deafening, unified sound that shook the trees and sent chills racing down my spine. The sound was raw power. It was so thrilling that it almost made me cry.
Wow. I thought, eyes wide. This is my first real invasion and I think fighting might be my new favorite thing.
‘Can you feel the energy, Leah?’ I said excitedly, readiness bubbling in my veins like electricity. My claws itched to come out.
‘Relax, Mulan. Don't go doing anything reckless,’ she warned lightly.
Adrian’s voice boomed across the field, dark and merciless. “I don’t want any of them alive!”
I surged forward instinctively, but Adrian’s hand suddenly caught the back of my shirt, yanking me back like a misbehaving puppy.
“Hey!” I squirmed in his grip. “Let me go! I want a taste!”
“You will stand right here,” he ordered, voice brooking no argument. “These are not your father’s men. These are rotten rogues. I wonder how they even dared to attack the palace…and who the hell is leading them.”
His eyes flicked to me with concern. “I don’t want their stench making you nauseous in your condition.”
“I’m fine,” I insisted, practically vibrating with agitation. “I’ll be a good girl and stay by your side. Can we go now? You’re delaying me!”
Adrian exhaled, clearly torn, then muttered, “Fine. But show no mercy. These rogues are beyond saving…they can’t even shift back to human form anymore.”
I nodded eagerly and together, we charged.
The moment we closed the distance, the rotten stench became overwhelming.
It crawled into my nose and throat like thick poison. I gagged but forced it down again. No way I’m giving Adrian the satisfaction of saying “I told you so” while I’m pregnant.
My body moved like it was on autopilot. Claws extended, teeth bared.
I slashed through the first rogue that lunged at me…a mangy, half-rotted wolf with foam dripping from its jaws. Blood sprayed hot across my arm.
Another came from the side. I spun, drove my claws deep into its side, then ripped upward. It howled and dropped.
Holy shit, I thought, exhilarated. I’m really good at this. I love fighting! No…I love Violence! Can we be having more of this around here?
‘Shut up and stop distracting me,’ Leah snapped. ‘I’m the one doing all the work here and you're busy feeling like an avenger!’
I rolled my eyes internally but kept moving.
The fight grew intense fast. Snarls, screams, and the sickening crunch of bone filled the air.
I stayed glued to Adrian’s back the entire time, back-to-back, moving like we were one unit.
Every time he took down one, I covered his blind spot. Every time I lunged, he guarded mine. Blood soaked the grass. Our wolves were tearing through them with savage efficiency.
Adrian’s voice slid into my mind. “You good?”
I grinned wildly even as I buried my claws in another rogue’s throat. “Never been better. I love this!”
‘You’re being creepy,’ he replied, but I could hear the hint of proud amusement in his voice.
My eyes caught movement…a large, mangy wolf crouched low in the shadows, creeping behind Thomas. It was positioned perfectly. One powerful jump and it would go straight for Thomas’s throat.
Adrian told me to stick to his side like glue… but if I don’t do something, Thomas might die. What should I do?
Leah rolled her eyes in my head as we tore through another rogue. ‘Just mind-link him, you dramatic hero with a mid-life crisis.’
‘Oh. Right. There is that.’
“Thomas! Behind you!” I shouted at him immediately through the mind-link.
Thomas spun sharply at the exact right second, catching the rogue mid-leap and tearing its throat out with his jaws.
‘Thank you, Your Majesty,’ he sent back, sounding genuinely grateful.
The battle raged on. We were clearly having the upper hand. Our warriors moved like a disciplined machine while the rogues fought like desperate, mindless beasts.
Who the hell is their leader anyway?
Blood painted the ground crimson under the floodlights. Howls of victory mixed with dying screams echoed throughout the open space. The air was thick with the metallic tang of blood and that awful rotting stench.
I was breathing hard, claws dripping, when I suddenly saw them charging towards Adrian and I.
What the hell are they doing here?
Are they…the leaders of this rotten army?
