Chapter 312 Mr. Smith, Beat Him!
Chapter 312 Mr. Smith, Beat Him!
He held Emily a little tighter and adjusted her hat.
Seeing how eager Emily was to get revenge for Sophia, William turned to look at Philip in the car with bloodshot eyes, his gaze growing colder.
"James, Michael, it's cold outside. You two wait in the car. I can take down the bad guy by myself."
James and Michael looked at each other, hesitated for a moment, then nodded.
With William there, Emily definitely wouldn't get hurt.
"Mr. Smith, it's him!" Emily pointed at Philip's gloomy face, huffing in anger.
Philip had just gotten out of the car, ready to have a proper talk with William about his ex-wife and daughter targeting him, when William kicked him in the knee. The pain made him drop to one knee on the ground.
"William, have you lost your mind!" Philip instantly sobered up.
Just as he was about to stand up, Emily punched him in the cheek.
Although the force was barely noticeable, like a light brush, being hit by a child was still quite embarrassing.
Emily waved her little fist, warning Philip, "Don't you dare bully my Lyra and my mom anymore, or I'll... beat you up!"
Philip, who had just stood up, "?"
So William had brought Emily over early in the morning just to stand up for Sophia?
William wrapped his palm around Emily's hand and gently rubbed it, saying, "Does it hurt? Leave these things to me from now on. He's thick-skinned, it's easy to hurt your hand."
Shocked by his words, Philip looked at him in disbelief, "William, are you crazy? Coming to pick a fight with me first thing in the morning!"
William raised his eyebrows coldly, "Got a problem with that?"
Philip looked coldly at William in front of him, mocking sarcastically, "I really misjudged you. Now your mind is completely on Emily and Sophia. What a waste of our friendship."
Having spent the whole night sleeping in the car without proper rest, and unable to communicate with Lyra, Philip was now easily provoked by William.
But do you think this was the end?
William asked back, "You made my daughter cry, aren't you in the wrong?"
"When did I make your daughter cry? Don't slander me! With Emily's way with words, I'm being nice. Otherwise..."
Emily, having been called out, reached out from her fluffy sleeve again, clenched her fist, and waved it in front of him.
She threatened, "Say more, and I'll hit you again."
Philip fell silent.
He caught something off about how Emily addressed William, and his anger made him take it out on William with words that were blunt and sharp, striking right at William's heart.
"Your daughter? Look, she won't even call you dad. And you call her your daughter?"
Hearing Philip's mocking words, Emily turned to look at William, who was holding her, wanting to see his expression.
He rubbed her little head and said, "Emily, you can call me whatever you want."
"Okay." Emily showed a sweet smile.
She turned and stuck her tongue out at Philip, throwing his mockery right back at him.
William wasn't provoked by his words. Instead, he glanced at the white suit on the passenger seat of Philip's car.
His next two sentences, half-mocking, half-sarcastic, directly enraged Philip.
"Whether she calls me dad or not, she's still my daughter."
"But you—you won't have a wife much longer."
Having his sore spot poked, Philip swung his fist directly at William's face.
"I'm telling you, Lyra and I will never divorce!"
"You're the one without a wife!"
William calmly pulled up Emily's hat and kicked Philip in the stomach.
After this period of training, his physical fitness had improved dramatically.
Having not rested well all night and not eaten for a full day, Philip was kicked to the ground.
"Be good, go wait in the car."
James and Michael quickly got out of the car and walked her back toward it.
Worried her hands were cold, they tucked Emily's hands into her sleeves and had just taken two steps holding her sleeves when they heard fighting sounds behind them.
Compared to Philip's frenzied moves, William's were clearly more methodical.
"William, are you serious?"
"What do you think? Philip, I can't control you hurting others, but I told you, don't touch Sophia and my daughter."
William's words were like a fuse, igniting all of Philip's emotions.
The two men tangled together again.
But clearly, William's skills and strength were superior.
Lyra, who had slept comfortably until she woke naturally, had just come downstairs when the butler said that William and Philip were fighting.
Confused, Lyra asked in surprise, "William came?"
The butler nodded, "Emily's here too."
Lyra couldn't be bothered with breakfast anymore. She quickly put on a coat and headed to the door. Thinking of Emily, she grabbed a shawl too - couldn't let Emily catch a cold.
Sophia, who had just received Lyra's video call, had only recently finalized with Ember the adjustments needed for the experimental base.
She pinched the bridge of her nose and asked, "What's wrong?"
Lyra immediately turned the camera around, pointing it at Emily, who was gesticulating excitedly.
"Wow! Mr. Smith is amazing!"
"Mr. Smith was mean to Mom and said, ' Don't push your luck."
Don't let Emily's young age fool you—she had an excellent memory and repeated all the things Philip had said to Sophia before.
Great, William's fist hitting Philip's face got even harder.
Philip couldn't defend himself. He did say those things, but definitely not in the tone Emily was repeating.
Lyra, who had been worried about Emily getting cold, now stood in a corner by the door, looking at the black windbreaker over Emily's fluffy clothes, then at William in just a shirt, and realized she'd worried for nothing.
"I have to say, watching William beat up Philip like this, I'm finding it really satisfying."
Sophia, seeing the two men tangling together on the other end, paused her gesture of pinching her nose bridge.
This morning, Emily said the amusement park had new little foxes and that she wanted to go buy them with her brothers.
Sophia had thought that when Emily dragged William, James, and Michael out early in the morning, they were going to the amusement park to buy new foxes.
Turns out it was a diversion.
She had actually brought William to crash the place.
Emily really was...
It wasn't until Philip was beaten down and couldn't get up that William stepped back two steps and began straightening his disheveled shirt sleeves, the sharp aura around him instantly retracting.
"Your business with Lyra, don't drag Emily into it."
"If I hear you made Emily cry again, you can forget about your private parts."
Philip propped himself up with one hand, wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth.
Looking at the impeccably dressed William before him, all the pent-up frustration from this period completely dissipated in the fight just now.
He asked William, "Do you believe that I didn't touch Cheryl?"
William gave him a 'what do you think' look.
Philip smiled bitterly. Why didn't anyone in the world believe he hadn't touched Cheryl?
Before leaving, William threw him one last line.
It left Philip, Lyra, who was walking over, and Sophia on the other end of the phone, stunned in place.
