Chapter 306 She's Ill

Chapter 306 She's Ill

"Mom, Emily!" What James and Michael looked forward to most now was Friday evening after school.

Sophia and Emily would always wait for them at the school gate.

"James, Michael!"

Emily ran toward them with cheerful steps.

James quickly caught her, already used to Emily's usual charging momentum and prepared in advance, perfectly catching Emily as she ran over.

During this time, both he and Michael had grown taller, making Emily seem even smaller.

Emily looked up at him and said with a smile, "James, Michael! I'm here to pick you up from school."

She held each of their hands and led them toward the car by the roadside.

Lyra leaned against the car door watching the three siblings approach, her curly hair blowing in the wind, charming and graceful, with a hint of envy in her eyes.

She nudged Sophia's arm with her elbow and teased with a wink, "Sophia, you already have three treasures. Are you really not going to give me Emily?"

Sophia just gave her a look, and Lyra sighed and shook her head.

They had just come from submitting their application at the court, arriving just in time for James and Michael's school dismissal.

Joe honked the horn, reminding them to get in the car quickly.

When the car pulled into the 'Hidden Feast' restaurant, it was right at dinner time.

Sophia had already asked the restaurant manager in advance to close the place, not wanting anyone to see Lyra and spread bad news on social media.

But just as she got out of the car holding James and Michael's hands, she saw Philip walking toward them, with Kaitlyn in a white dress by his side.

"Philip, who owns this restaurant? Why did they close so early?"

Kaitlyn's voice was soft, and the angle at which she turned her head toward Philip showed off her most beautiful profile.

But Philip's gaze was now locked on Lyra getting out of the car.

Philip's eyes flashed with uncontrollable delight, and he walked quickly over, saying, "Lyra, you're back?"

Lyra, who had just lifted Emily out of the car, heard the commotion behind her. Her eyes flashed with the opposite emotion—disgust-and she started to find Philip's voice really annoying.

Kaitlyn followed with small steps and said in surprise when she saw the child in Lyra's arms, "Lyra, your daughter is already this big? She doesn't look like Philip at all."

Sophia, Lyra, and Emily all rolled their eyes at the same time, their movements perfectly synchronized.

James and Michael looked at the familiar Philip in front of them, thought about his relationship with William, exchanged glances, and tacitly chose to stay silent.

Sophia, Emily, and Lyra seemed to really dislike them.

It was best for them to keep quiet right now.

Sophia gave Emily a knowing look, and Emily immediately showed a bright smile, rubbing her hands together and getting ready for her performance.

While abroad, Kaitlyn had only asked people to follow Philip's situation. When she learned that he and Lyra had registered their marriage, she wanted to kill her.

But when she found out they had divorced just days after getting married, she felt nothing but satisfaction. Sure enough, in Philip's heart, living with someone he didn't love was unbearable torture.

She knew better than anyone that Philip was a natural hedonist.

Kaitlyn waited for Lyra to mock her like in the past, so she could cry in front of Philip and make her experience the pain of being ignored by Philip again.

But instead of hearing her speak, she heard the little girl say to her, "Why would I look like your Philip?"

Emily thought to herself: 'If I looked like Philip, William would go crazy, right?'

The woman in front of her was suddenly stunned. She turned to look at Philip, only to find his eyes glued to Lyra, and the jealousy in her heart kept growing.

"Lyra, why won't you talk to me? Are you still holding a grudge about what happened back then? I wanted to explain, but I was too seriously injured and fell into a coma. Later, I was sent abroad to recover and was controlled there."

Emily looked at her curiously and asked, "Madam, whenever you talk, why do your shoulders keep shaking? Are you sick?"

She turned to look at Philip and said very seriously, "Sir, she's sick. You should take her to see a doctor."

Kaitlyn fell silent. She felt like the child's tone was insulting .

Lyra's beautiful eyes narrowed, her bright and bold features making her look even colder and more glamorous.

Lyra said sarcastically, "Yeah, hurry up and take her to the hospital to have her brain examined. Someone who's been dead for four years can come back to life—people who don't know might think it was deliberately staged."

Kaitlyn walked over to Philip and tugged at his sleeve. She bit her lip and said pitifully, "Philip, Lyra really does blame me, but I truly didn't mean it."

"I didn't expect you to blame Lyra for my death and torture her for two years." As Kaitlyn said this, her eyes kept wandering over Lyra, hiding her contempt for her rival.

Sophia had seen many women like Kaitlyn when she was by William's side. She stared at Philip and Kaitlyn standing close together and sighed at how similar their fates were.

For Kaitlyn, tightly grasping the lifeline beside her was a habit she had developed since childhood.

Kaitlyn liked Philip, but she knew she couldn't control him, so she wanted to leave an indelible mark in his heart, making him feel heartbroken every time he thought of her.

So she found a control group—that little girl who always followed behind Philip, secretly watching him with her eyes, thinking others couldn't tell she liked him.

She used a fake death scheme to make Lyra her stepping stone to climb .

The facts proved that she did not only did it but was very successful in it.

If it weren't for the stupid Cheryl leaking her whereabouts, Kaitlyn should have had a "chance encounter" with Philip in a foreign country, had sex with him, and from then on, she would be the number one woman in his heart.

It was all Cheryl's fault! She actually dared to covet her man!

Kaitlyn lowered her head, pretending to look very guilty and sad, while Philip, standing beside her, only came to his senses when he heard Lyra's voice and didn't pull away from Kaitlyn.

"This has nothing to do with you."

Philip explained Emily's identity to her, "She's William's daughter, not mine."

To the hearing of others , this sounded like he was proving his innocence to the woman he liked.

But who knew that his next sentence would be asking Lyra to go home with him for dinner, as if the fact of their divorce was just a joke.

"Lyra, since you're back in the country, perfect timing. Come home with me for dinner this weekend. Grandpa and Grandma really miss you and insist I bring you home for dinner."

Seeing how his eyes never left Lyra, Sophia had a bold guess pop into her head.

Could Philip have fallen in love with Lyra?

If it were true, then the stakes of this show just got a lot higher without any price increase.

Emily lifted her chin and snorted, "Sir, why would my mom have dinner with you?"

At the same time, she turned to Kaitlyn and sighed, "Madam, you really look super concerned."

"But you don't need to feel inferior. Although you're not as pretty as my godmother and don't dress as nicely as my godmother, you are better than my godmother in one thing—you're really shameless."

She stretched out her hands to show a super big distance. "This is shameful."

Kaitlyn yelled, "You!"

"Madam, you're so mean. You're bullying a child."

As soon as Emily started crying, the bodyguards William had arranged to protect her immediately rushed out. Regardless of her struggles, they pulled Kaitlyn aside, their eyes fierce, warning her not to bully the child.

At this moment, in a primitive forest in a distant city, a pair of eagle-like eyes sharply locked onto a shadow hiding in the distance.

Under the man's shocked gaze, William's shot hit his arm, and red smoke immediately appeared on his body.

Another small dot on the map immediately dimmed.

In a split second, William felt his nose itch. He held back the urge to sneeze, crawled forward quickly to hide in the other party's blind spot, and extinguished three or four more red dots.

On the other side, in a camouflage-colored tent, a man looked at the display screen in front of him, his eyes showing deep appreciation. "Not bad."
