Chapter 119 No Wonder William Slept With Her and Dumped Her
Sophia cast a cold glance toward the doorway.
Seeing her stunningly beautiful face, still gorgeous even in a hospital gown, Tanner squinted his beady eyes with an obsessed and sleazy look.
"Hannah, So this is Sophia. She really is beautiful."
Unable to push past the bodyguards blocking his way, Tanner simply stood at the door and spoke.
Tanner recalled the name Hannah had mentioned to him before, and tried to act familiar: "Sophia, I'm your uncle. If you ever need anything, you can come to me."
"No matter the hour, my 'door' will always be open to you."
When he said "door," he deliberately raised his voice. The smile on his lips, combined with his disgusting face, made him even more revolting.
Last night, the Johnson family bodyguards had all been injured. The ones left at the door were basically all Smith family bodyguards, plus some people transferred from the Smith Manor—several familiar faces that Hannah had seen before.
In front of them, Hannah always put on a gentle appearance.
She turned to Sophia and said, "Sophia, look, we're all family. Tanner even put aside his company business to come see you. Why don't you let him come in, sit down, and have some water?"
Hearing this, Tanner immediately held up the gift box in his hand. "That's right, I bought you some nutritional supplements, all good for your health!"
Sophia sneered and pursed her lips without saying anything.
Their self-satisfied manner really made it hard to tell she was William's stepmother.
She still couldn't figure out what Henry saw in Hannah. Luna had been superior in every way.
Not only were her looks, personality, and family background inferior to Luna's, but her perspective was also extremely shallow.
Could it be that rich people these days prefer women like Hannah?
Tanner's intentions were practically overflowing from his eyes, yet he still tried to put on a kind and benevolent expression, which completely contradicted his petty demeanor.
"Who said you could claim me as family?"
"I have a father, a mother, and relatives. If you really want to claim this relationship, remember to go to heaven and ask them if they agree."
Sophia's voice was cold and distant, her mocking gaze seeming to ridicule their wishful thinking.
Both Hannah and Tanner's expressions changed!
Tanner directly scolded her angrily, "How can you be so stupid? My brother-in-law, Henry, is the former president of Peace Group. He's elevating your status and you don't even know to appreciate it. No wonder William slept with you and then dumped you."
Hannah pretended to sigh, "Tanner, don't talk about Sophia like that. She just hasn't recovered from yesterday's trauma yet. I don't blame her."
In the hospital room, Sophia couldn't help but laugh out loud.
"You two must be nearly a hundred years old combined, yet you still think like children."
Hannah and Tanner fell silent.
"The Henry you're bragging about is my son's grandfather. What do you think he can do to me?"
Her gaze toward the doorway was like a bottomless abyss in the darkness, sending a bone-chilling coldness that made Tanner's scalp tingle.
"When claiming a daughter, don't just look at whether others are suitable—also see if you're qualified enough."
Those beautiful almond-shaped eyes were now covered with a layer of indifference and coldness.
A wave of shock and anger rose in Hannah's eyes. She had just opened her mouth when she heard Sophia's voice.
"If you want to be my mother, you're not qualified."
"Sophia!" Hannah's questioning voice was mixed with anger.
The fire swirling in her chest was forcibly suppressed when she saw the bodyguards at the door and the occasional passing doctors. Her eyes turned red from holding back her rage.
"There's one more thing."
Sophia looked at Hannah with sharp eyes, full of scrutiny and suspicion.
"The decision for me and the child to go to the Smith Manor last night was only made in the morning. How did Lily know about it?"
"And she just happened to have so many people hidden on Greenfield Avenue, with the timing perfect too. It's all like someone was secretly tipping her off."
Sophia's gaze was ice-cold. Just meeting Sophia's eyes made Hannah feel a chill down her back.
The sunlight outside was bright, but Hannah felt like she was in an ice cave. Her stiffly tensed spine silently revealed her inner anxiety.
Even Tanner at the door suddenly quieted down, his eyes darting away, too guilty to meet her gaze.
Sophia said, "Alice also appeared at the scene..."
Hearing this name, Hannah's breathing clearly skipped a beat, her heart so nervous it felt like it would jump out.
She pretended not to know anything and looked up at Sophia.
"Perhaps a servant at the Smith Manor leaked this information."
"After all, if you were coming, they'd have to prepare meals in advance. Maybe someone was bribed."
Seeing her frightened expression, what more confirmation did Sophia need?
Sophia said seriously, "Is that so?"
Although she was sitting in a wheelchair, she gave off an extremely strong sense of pressure.
"If that's the case, then I'd better remind William to thoroughly investigate everyone at the Smith Manor—phone calls, transfers, and personal contacts. Can't let any fish slip through the net."
Her voice was low, but it had an inexplicably profound feeling.
Hannah had a guilty conscience, anxious and afraid.
Tanner kept making eye signals at Hannah from the doorway, telling her to quickly bring up the ZN laboratory matter, but Hannah was so distracted that she didn't notice his reminders.
He had just taken half a step inside when he was expressionlessly blocked by the bodyguards. Tanner was both angry and helpless.
The wind from outside brought the warmth of summer that hadn't completely faded.
Sophia maneuvered her wheelchair to turn in a different direction, glanced at her, and said to the bodyguards, "Show them out."
Two bodyguards immediately entered and made a gesture of invitation to Hannah.
It wasn't that Sophia didn't want to slap Hannah right away.
But compared to the immediate satisfaction, she enjoyed the process of cat and mouse more—watching the mouse live with its tail between its legs in constant anxiety, trapped in a tense atmosphere at all times.
More importantly, compared to open schemes where people had leverage over you, she was better at playing devious tricks.
"Hannah, about the laboratory..."
Tanner was about to speak when Hannah pulled him away. Right now, she didn't even know if she could continue staying with the Smith family, let alone talk about laboratory matters!
If she had known Alice would be so useless, she wouldn't have cooperated with her, and wouldn't be in this difficult situation now.
Sophia said, "Wait."
Tanner's eyes lit up, thinking she had changed her mind, but then he heard...
"Take this soup container with you."
Before leaving, Tanner's gaze lingered on her face and the area below her collarbone. When his already small eyes half-squinted to look at people, they were filled with lewd intent.
Tanner secretly made up his mind: 'Since Sophia won't cooperate, I'll have someone kidnap her to my private residence. Once I've had my way with her a few times, she'll have no choice but to agree!'
Sophia looked up, keenly sensing the malice and ferocity in Tanner's murky eyes.
After the hospital room became quiet again.
She immediately took out her phone and sent Monkey a message: [Look into Hannah and Tanner.]
Over the next few days.
Perhaps urged on by Tanner, Hannah tried to come to the hospital twice, but was blocked at the hospital room door by bodyguards both times.
She didn't know that the first time she successfully entered the room was because Sophia had already suspected she was the one who gave Alice the information, and had instructed the bodyguards at the door in advance.
After James and Michael recovered, Sophia had William send them home.
And after staying in the hospital for over a week, she was also discharged.
During her time in the hospital, Sophia had Allan prepare three meals a day for Raymond.
And she also recalled in her mind possible treatments for his leg condition.
In the end, she really thought of something!
At the top floor of Peace Group.
William looked at James and Michael in his office, and Emily holding their hands, and frowned.
"Where's your mother?"
