Tanya:
My eyes widen at his words, and to my own surprise, I realize that such a prospect suits me perfectly. A wild, unbearable desire surged inside me, so strong I was ready to accept everything the beast promised me—right here, in the middle of the park bushes!
I remain silent, watching the wolf, waiting for his next move.
With a heavy sigh and a low growl, Zavir shook his head, reluctantly pulling away from me. He stood and then reached out his hand to help me up.
"I can’t treat you like this. You’re far too precious. Things must be done the right way," the blond murmured, almost as if thinking out loud. His words startled me, leaving me both surprised and just a little disappointed.
"We have a date tonight. Two hours from now," he confessed bluntly, then pulled me into his arms, holding me tightly against him.
"Alright," I whispered hoarsely, still somewhat disoriented. "Then I’ll go home and get ready."
"Oh no, no way," he rumbled, tightening his embrace until I could hardly breathe. "I’m not letting you go anymore! Right now, we’re going shopping together. I’ll buy you a dress, shoes, lingerie—everything you need for our date. Then, if you’d like, we’ll stop by a beauty salon. That’s not a necessity for me, but it’s entirely up to you. After that—we head straight to the restaurant!"
This wolf had thought of everything. There was no way to wriggle out of it. Not that I wanted to run anymore.
"And what if I already have plans?" I asked cautiously, only to be scorched by the blazing fire in his eyes.
"Tanya, your plans are me now! You’ve been running from me for far too long. Now it’s time to face the consequences!" With a deliberate sway of his hips, the wolf made his stance perfectly clear. "Have you been with someone else?"
I froze at such a blunt, tactless question. Outrage and anger began boiling in my veins.
"And what about you?" I shot back defiantly, narrowing my brows as I stared at him.
"Oh! I’m glad you asked," Zavir grinned darkly, dragging me toward his car. "I HAVEN’T, TANYA! Not once. But I promise you—in the shortest possible time, that will change. So?!"
"Yeah, right. I don’t believe that for a second," I muttered under my breath, refusing to accept it. "Impossible. What about your little story—‘she worked with her mouth, and I with my fingers’? How many mouths like that have there been?"
"I’m not telling you this to make you believe me," the beta growled, his voice rough. "I’m telling you so you understand the scope of the work ahead of you!"
"Pff!" I scoffed.
"And I asked you a question! Have you?" he roared again, punctuating his frustration by kicking a loose stone across the path. A bit unhinged, clearly.
"Well, you’ll find out soon enough, won’t you? My fate’s already sealed!" I shot back with equal defiance, locking eyes with the furious man as we came to a brief halt.
Zavir’s jaw tightened; his lips pressed together while his teeth ground audibly. He glared at me with a dangerous intensity. And God, he looked so devastatingly handsome like this it stole my breath away. Why on earth did I love provoking him so much?
"You can’t crush genes with a finger," the brunette muttered, drilling me with his stare. "Your sister, you… two apples from the same tree."
He shoved me into the car, and to my surprise, I found Lakisha already inside. Her presence startled me, but joy quickly replaced it—I was genuinely glad to see her. We greeted each other warmly and shared a tight hug.
