Chapter 48 Chapter 48
Selena
I rushed out of the elevator onto the ground floor. My legs felt leaden as I moved.
How did Father find out? How did he find out I work here now? I yelled internally, my head pounding.
I didn't want to be embarrassed; it would be bad if Father was causing a commotion down there.
He did, because by the time I set foot into the reception, I could hear whispers, followed by screams.
“Where is Selena? Tell her to come out now, or I’ll never leave here!” It was father's voice.
His face soon came into view in the midst of workers who now gathered, watching him. Flower vases were already broken, staining everywhere with dirt.
Just what the fuck was this?
I balled my hands into fists as I watched him. Reality taking over my mind.
Now, everyone knew who he was to me. Soon everyone will question my background or how I was able to get into this company. Some will judge why he looked so unkempt when I worked here.
And that’s what he wanted. To shame me. To paint me evil
Father had always been a disappointment.
“Do you think I’m joking!” He yelled, his voice rising as he looked around the room.
The company's security took a step back as he bent down to take a broken verse. It cut through his hands as he gripped it, pressing out his blood to fall on the floor.
He wasn't going to stop till he embarrassed me to the end.
I stepped forward, making my presence known. “What are you doing?” I yelled, and Father smirked at seeing me.
I could feel everyone’s attention on us. How I wanted to disappear.
“Here is my beautiful daughter,” Father pointed at me, laughing hectically, the glass still in his palm.
I took a deep breath.
I should keep calm, I couldn't lose it here, not in front of everyone. It was already damaging enough.
I walked closer to him. , keeping a distance of four steps from him.
Father could be crazy to want to hurt me just to get what he wants.
“Dad, why don't you go home and we’ll speak about this when I get home? This is a work environment, and you are disrupting it,” I faked a smile at him.
But he only laughed more. “Who are you trying to deceive? I don't even know where you live now! Noah won’t tell me anything, except about your workplace! And you don't pick up my calls!” He yelled, his face tightening as he threw the glass piercing his hand away.
“How dare you ignore your father, you ungrateful bitch? How dare you be ungrateful after everything I have done for you? Now that you work in a place this good, you won’t care for me? All enjoying the fortune alone?” His scream filled the space and I wanted to disappear.
Noise filled the hall, people murmuring, all eyes on us. And father?
He smiled, and my eyes turned blurry. “Dont paint yourself good!” I yelled, suddenly feeling overwhelmed by his actions.
Fine, if he was going to embarrass me, I was as well going to put him into ridicule. Tell everyone how terrible he was.
“So what if I blocked you? So what if I refused to send you money, for you to lavish on bets and alcohol? So what if I wanted you out of our lives?” I screamed at him, and as always he held the look of disgust.
I placed my hands on my waist, licked my lips, and smiled. It was painful.
“You have never been a father to us. I did everything when you abandoned us, framed Josh when you committed a crime. Then we left the house because you wanted to sell it! You took my hard-earned money for years, you made me sick, so that I actually want to die!”
I inhaled, my breath unstable at lashing out.
I faced him. This time his face held an angry snarl as he looked at me.
“Leave. As I said before, you won’t receive anything from us anymore so don't bother Josh or me ever again. And stop bothering Noah, we are no longer together.”
I looked around, everyone's eyes on us.
How humiliating.
My eyes stopped at the two security guards, who were with others, and I walked to them.
“Please take him out, and don't ever let him in. He may be my father, but it’s only on paper. I don't wish to get distracted while working.”
They both nodded, and without turning back to Father, I started walking towards the elevator.
“Where do you think you are going you bitch?”
I heard him yelling, but I didn't turn back. Maybe I should have because the next thing I felt was hot coffee pouring down on my body.
“Oh my God,” I gasped in horror, turning around.
Thank God it wasn't burning.
“You think you can get away from me? You lie Selena. Send the money or I’m not living!” He dropped the cup on the floor.
Coffee covering my face, I looked sideways at the worker who had her coffee stolen by him.
Everyone looked shocked at what was now being displayed.
I smiled and chewed my inner cheeks hard, my eyes turned blurry as I looked at father.
“To what extent are you going to go just to embarrass me? What type of father acts like this?” I spoke, my voice low.
It was embarrassing.
Being drenched with coffee in front of everyone. How was I going to go over this?
I look down, my feet finding it heavy to walk away.
God I should raise my head and walk away.
Suddenly, everywhere went silent, and everyone started walking away hurriedly.
Tears still in my eyes I turned, but my sight was turned black by a towel placed on my head. Before I could protest, a hand went around my legs and my back and then I was lifted.
I gasped. “What are you doing? Who are you?” I removed the towel from my face and then, my breath caught seeing Theodore up high.
Father's scream filled the space, it seemed he was being carried away.
“Dont tell me you were about staying there forever?” His deep voice struck something in me, his smell consumed my full existence.
“Put me down,” I panicked, realizing our position. I tried moving down.
“Stay put.” His hold on me only tightened.
