Chapter 39 Chapter 39

Chapter 39 Chapter 39
Selena

My heart raced as I searched the drawer while keeping my ears on the door.

I was so stupid.

I shouldn’t have left my phone on the couch. Maybe if I had it with me, I would have been able to ask the lady where to find the document instead of roaming around everywhere.

I had checked the room given to me, while stalling to see if I was followed. And after a minute of being sure, I left the room to his.

I’ve checked everywhere, yet found nothing. It was almost like he didn’t even live here. Another thing, his room was oddly black.

The walls were painted black, and there was a large painting that looked like something that could belong to Alexei’s collection.

It was a painting of fearful eyes, its expression terrified as it looked at the hands above it.

It was deadly, and I dare not look at it again.

“Where could it be?” I breathe heavily, I was going to get caught at this point.

I turned around the room, my eyes avoiding the painting above the bed.

I stopped. I didn’t notice it before, but the way the curtain beside the painting looked was oddly different.

I walked to it, trying my best not to look at the painting. Then I stretched my hand to move the curtain aside.

“What are you doing, Selena?”

I froze, my hand hanging up.

It was Theodore.

His voice was cold as ice as he questioned, casting my whole body into worry.

How did he get here?

I haven’t heard the door open, or the sounds of his footsteps so how come?

Most importantly, how was I going to leave this situation? My heart beat speedily. I could hear a ringing in my ear…..

‘The painting.’

An idea stuck.

I turned my gaze to the painting, retreating my hand to my body.

I should think, think of anything to make me sad. I widened my eyes, looking at the creepy details of the painting. My eyes itched and tears dropped.

“How..how can you have something this scary in your room?” More tears dropped and I turned to him. His gaze was empty, but I wasn’t about to drop my act.

“What are you doing here?” His voice deepened as he asked again.

I closed my eyes, letting the tears fall more. I should probably go into acting after these six months.

I opened my eyes. “I finished using the bathroom, and decided to look around since here feels so foreign and ..and then..” I turned to look at the painting again.

Alexei should be sued for this painting. . “And then I saw this painting. It’s heartbreaking.” I sniffed harder.

God please, let him believe my ass. If not, I’m going to die if he thinks I was searching for something in his room.

He took a step closer to me, and I gulped. This time, I bit my lips, allowing the pain to cloud my senses to make painful sounds.

He stopped in front of me, then his eyes looked past me to the painting and then back to me.

He leaned towards me, his gaze towering over my height, and then his hands brushed my face.

“Does it scare you?” His voice seemed sincere as he asked but there was something more, something cold underneath.

I gulped. “Yes,” I murmured involuntarily.

His lips broke into a smile, and somehow that sent shivers down my spine.

“Look Selena,” He placed his hands on my shoulder, and turned me around to face the painting again.

I closed my eyes, not only for pretenses, but because the painting was dreadful and unpleasant.

“Open your eyes, Selena. Look, there is nothing in the painting.” He whispered into my right ear and all of a sudden, my body was aware of his touch, his body to mine as he stood behind me. so close that I could feel his breath over my neck.

God, how I wanted him to wrap his hands all over me and maybe take me?

I bit my lips.

“You don’t have to be scared, Selena. It’s just cruel hands. There is nothing more.”

I am brought back to the painting.

It wasn’t just a painting. There was more about the painting and maybe my head was being influenced by the paintings of Alexei that I have seen online.

“Do you know Alexei ?” I decided to ask.

“Who is it?” He asked.

I sighed. He is a famous Russian painter, but he isn’t known by his face, but by his work. This’s just like his work.”

“And what do you think of him?”

He whispered again in my ears.

The first time I spent time on Alexei’s Page was filled with dreadful nightmares. I had to cuddle Josh to sleep that night.

Alexei was sick.

“Haunting,” I murmured. Yes, it was haunting.

“Hmm,”

Slowly, softly, His hands moved down to my hands. His body seemed to have moved closer to me. Yes, it was, because I felt his member to my ass.

I swallowed.

Slowly, I’m turned towards him, and his gaze terrified me.

Needs.

The look to own as he towers over me.

“Do you know when you are most attractive, Selena?”

I shook my head, enchanted by his green eyes. “No.” I wasn’t sure I said something because I couldn’t hear myself.

“When..” His fingers reached my face, and he trailed slowly to my chin then to my cheeks and then he stopped at my eyes.

“When your eyes are filled with tears,” He rubbed my right eye, slowly, softly, Like it was the best thing in the world he had seen.

“They sparkle, Selena.”

How?

It was the second time he had spoken about my eyes and again, it sent something unpleasant to my bones, because his gaze wasn’t one of normal admiration as his fingers trailed after both eyes.

“Why? There are normal eyes. There is nothing special about them, so …why?” I asked, forcing it out of my throat.

Unlike his eyes, which were beautiful, mine were what normal people had—brown eyes.

“No, don’t say that,” His hand held my chin this time. His gaze held a frown, one I have never seen on him.

I dwell in his searching gaze as he holds me.

He eased his lips open, running his tongue over his lower lip, and my eyes followed it—his wet tongue, and at that moment I would do anything to have it in mine.

“Be my muse, Selena.”
