CHAPTER 19 He could let me die, just for this chil
Outside the mansion, a man and a woman seemed to be arguing. They were Shawn and the Stephanie.
"You sure you want to do that?" Shawn grabbed Stephanie's arm, making the last struggle. In this argument, he was obviously the weak side.
"I have to take my baby out of there." Stephanie said resolutely as if she had got rid of her bloody past. "That Stephanie was dead. Now, I am a mother and I want to be with my child. Is there anything wrong?"
Stephanie's words made him feel painful. Somehow, she was able to affect his feelings. "Steph, just calm down. This is not that easy."
"I know it can't be that easy." Stephanie signed. "Jack has power so I can't do all these on my own. I need your help, Shawn. Please."
Under the moonlight, the woman seemed fragile and powerless. Nonetheless, there was infinite power hiding in that petite body, which supported her to pull herself back from the hell.
To some extent, what Shawn told Jack today was true. Stephanie came back to life as a mother, a mother who devoted herself to her child, but not a woman trapped by love.
Shawn gave in, "What are you going to do after you take him back?"
"What am I going to do?" Stephanie acted like she just heard something funny. Her mother nature was held back by her woman side again, which was revealed by the pain on her face. "We will keep away from them, for the rest of our life."
Jack had suffered insomnia since that night. Every time when night fell, his mind became occupied by Stephanie's shadow. He began to stay in that baby's room all night, as if waiting for that smell to come again. Sadly, it never happened.
Liz had always been staying with him, though it meant torture to her. The longer Jack had lost his sleep, the more envious and painful she got. Her feelings were like roaring flame, devouring her heart.
Seeing that Jack was getting worse day by day, Liz suggested him to take a vacation.
"A vacation?" Jack raised his head from his desk and looked at Liz in a poker face.
Liz swallowed the bitterness, trying to make her smile more genuine. "Yes. You've had bad sleeps for quite a while. Why don't you take a vacation and see if it helps?"
As she spoke, she went behind Jack and started massaging his shoulders. They were so close, but she just couldn't reach him. In her eyes, Jack had always been unreachable like this. Nonetheless, she wouldn't give up, even her opponent was someone dead.
Jack remained speechless for a while like he was considering her suggestion. He hated his feeling towards Stephanie, but he just couldn't help thinking about her. Is it because of the memories Stephanie left in this house? If so, going to somewhere far away would be a good idea.
He decided on the date soon. Before they left, Liz winked at the babysitter as if to imply something, after which she took Jack's arm and started off happily.
After they were back, that little bastard would be gone like his mother. Merely thinking about this made Liz feel excited. Stephanie, even if you are dead, your child will be under my control!
The car drove directly to the airport. On their way, Liz kept telling Jack about her fantasies of the incoming trip, but he barely listened. He was staring through the car window, pondering.
At the airport, their gorgeous look grabbed many people's attentions. Liz pulled herself closer to Jack complacently, as if to proclaim her ownership of Jack.
Their shuttle hadn't arrived yet, so they waited at the lounge. Liz took out her phone to kill time, while Jack was staring at the glass window and thinking something.
Meanwhile, the shadow that had bothered Jack for long occurred again. Through the glass, he saw Stephanie boarding a plane.
Was it a shadow? Jack had a bad feeling about it. No, it can't be.
