Chapter - 64: Castor's Suspicion
(Castor's POV).
I moved my gaze away from her direction as she stormed into the room. I got an unsettling feeling in the pit of my belly, thinking of all that had happened these past few days.
I missed her terribly. I missed the petty little talks I had with her. I wish I could take back all my actions. My feelings were on the lease, acting just as they deemed fit, going haywire. I felt my belly churn a bit.
It struck me suddenly as I realized she seemed to have been crying as she walked past. I clenched my palms into a fist, a frown etched on my face as I walked towards the main entrance.
I exhaled deeply; maybe I had taken the wrong approach on the whole issue; I had almost believed I was at fault for most of the things; and for starters, I was sure to have my feelings in check, but I knew I had gotten attracted to her, and the attraction grew only worse with each passing day.
I had aimed to steer away from my emotions, but my actions had an even worse consequence, perhaps a little because I had been away from her for way too long. I had heard the whole thing even before, but I was scared and worried sick of running into her, so I kept to myself, not daring to do or say a thing.
My senses shook a bit, and my nerves tore apart, seeing that he had been crying.
I shouldn't have allowed her to co-exist with the fact that the goddess knows what date Zed had proposed; it was not like I had been given a chance to speak, and neither did I have any right over her. It was all accordingly, and I had myself all wrapped around my emotions.
I swallowed hard before storming towards the balcony in search of Castor maybe I had a point to prove as well. He had been the nicest towards Faedra but it didn't make sense seeing as she suddenly cried after spending time with him.
That was the only thing permitted by me; so far, I had been living under harsh conditions of several types, and just when I believed she was finally safe,
Safe away from prying eyes, safe away from the other maids, safe away from everyone and their harsh treatment or not bothering caring about how she felt, there came up another scenario with pain and the likes involved in it.
It was all connected; the dots were evident now, her being drugged even when she was heavily pregnant, and also the petty talks that ensued, her being beaten up by the maids, ending up in a hospital...
Faedra was the target, her babies, our pups; there was something that they were on; whoever had kept all of these had planned it out perfectly; There were no loose ends, which bore me to thinking,
What if there actually were?
No one had expected that Zed would catch up so soon, so how about the loose ends were actually found out? How then was the whole thing to be counted?
I swallowed hard. Faedra must be protected; it wouldn't be helpful if anything happened to Faedra. We've gone, though, just enough to know better than letting her get into any other accident of any sort.
“Shade!” I called out after him, and he glanced up in the direction with a frown before proceeding towards me.
“Yeah! What's with your noise? A little tired but here I am, all worked up.” He added faintly, and a snort escaped my lips while I took a long and lasting glance at him.
What was his deal, to be exact? He had been working me up for a whole lot of reasons, and as much as I wanted to think long and hard about it, something was up with him.
“I need you to come with me,” I added in quite hastily, and he didn't seem to be pleased one bit with all that had been said.
The frown on his face deepened; it made me really uneasy.
“What for?” he asked with an arrogant air of nonchalance.
“We need to find out who has been responsible. We would take responsibility for Faedra, but if we aren't careful, it doesn't sit right with me, to let Zed do everything on his own. Faedra is the mother to our pups, not his; he shouldn't be doing way more than we are.” I explained this to Shade, who's still got a stone-cold expression etched on his face.
“Yeah, so what? He's zed; he likes her. What's new? If he wishes to, then you will.” Zed responded reluctantly, trying hard to keep his frown hidden from me.
“Zed could help by saying we have to do something; she's in danger right now, and I can't help but feel like the perpetrator must have loose ends down; we need to find out what this is all about; if we had done it, I would come around to tie loose ends and we would have to catch him or her in the act,” I explained, but the same uninterested look remained on Shade's face.
“You do as you wish; I have a date with Sheila later on; I can't make it.” He responded before pushing past me into the house while I remained fixed on the spot.
I wasn't sure what the deal with Sheila was, but I didn't trust her one bit; she left him many years ago and disappeared without a trace. A few years later, she pops up with some sorry-ass stories.
Maybe she was telling the truth; perhaps they were nothing but lies being spoon-fed to him; all I was certain about remained just how blinded by love Shade was at the moment.
A few weeks ago, he had been planning all over, saying he needed to get over the feelings he had for her, yet in a matter of days, he had gotten wrapped around her fingers.
I didn't like it; I felt sick to my insides.
Something was fishy about Sheila. and I was bound to find out what it was about either soon or later.
