EPILOGUE
“With the moon's shackles as a witness and the pack's roar as a guide, I entwine the destinies of the wolf and the Succubus. Sealing shadows, I weave the magical veil that will protect the beast, where the alpha's mind and the essence of the Succubus will merge in an indissoluble pact. May the raised veil be an impenetrable shield, where not even the shadows of temptation dare disturb lupine harmony. So be it, under the moonlight, sealed in eternity.”
Years had passed since the last battle against the dark witch, a lapse of time that felt like an eternity without catching a glimpse of my beloved nephew. I stared at the sky tinted with orange hues by the sunset, heralding the imminent night that unfolded to make way for lunar majesty. A sigh escaped my lips as I closed my eyes at the riverbank, chanting a prayer of protection to the ancestors, imploring them to safeguard my descendant wherever his journey might lead him. I wished for him to find peace and love, yearning for a day when he could forgive my faults and weaknesses.
“He'll be fine!” Harvey's voice sounded behind me, interrupting my thoughts. He approached, crouching down beside me and provocatively splashing water on my face.
“I know...” I replied, splashing water back at him with a smile. “I just wish to shield him from the world and more pain.”
Harvey nodded and playfully threw himself on me, capturing my lips in an impetuous kiss. It was incredible how destiny had gifted me with such intense love, especially when it came to such a challenging Alpha.
“And the mental isolation barriers?” I asked, raising an eyebrow as I observed him.
“Firm, the beast, and I can communicate when he crosses the magical veil.” The Lycan king smiled crookedly, lifting me from the ground and sliding his finger across my lips. “But if you're wondering if I can sense the Beast's enjoyment with the Succubus in my core, no, you deprived me of that spectacle!”
“Maybe I should go have some fun with the beast too!” I teased, returning the provocation.
“I'll kill the creature before it touches you!” the alpha growled, clenching his fists with jealousy. He pulled me by the waist, inhaling the scent of my neck and biting gently. “You're distracting!”
“Me? You came to hunt me...” I smiled, wrapping my arms around his neck and standing on tiptoes to reach his lips. “It's tonight, isn't it?”
“Yes, I'll take the young wolves to the top of the mountain for the first transformation ritual.” The Lycan sighed. “Not how I would have liked to spend my night.”
“I'll prepare a surprise for you when you finish your duties as King Lycan.” I bit the tip of his ear and whispered. “I guarantee you'll like it!”
He squeezed my buttocks, growled, and bit my lower lip before succumbing to a voracious kiss, laden with desires and promises. Transforming before my eyes, I saw him vanish up the mountain, smiling with anticipation. At least that part of our lives was in sync!
Night fell, and as I gathered night-blooming flowers in the forest, illuminated by the moonlight, I trusted in the preparations I had in mind for when my mate returned. However, a burnt odor disrupted the tranquility, raising the hairs on my arm, and my she-wolf howled, alerting me to imminent danger.
“The pack!” I transformed into my lupine form, running as fast as I could towards the danger.
Strident and ominous noises, like the wail of shadowy creatures, echoed incessantly from within the devastated city. The atmosphere was thick, saturated with smoke intertwined with darkness. Entering that nightmare, I encountered lifeless wolves, inert witnesses of the unfolding chaos. It was a true hell—a vivid vision of an incarnate nightmare.
An icy chill ran down my spine as I stood still, immersed in haunting memories. My heart pounded uncontrollably, each beat an echo of the oppression hanging in the air. The weight of the environment was reflected in the steps I took as if the very air had become dense in my lungs.
The smell of rust permeated the air, a macabre symphony composed of the screams of pain echoing incessantly. Fear and terror emanated like a disturbing essence. Abominable creatures, which we had faced before, now reigned in desolation. Without hesitation, I brought down some of them, liberating the matriarchs from their cruel dominion. Their bodies, marked by the brutality of the confrontation, testified to the intensity of the battle waged in that apocalyptic setting.
“Run from here, seek a safe refuge, and take as many wolves with you as possible!” I growled, determined, the words echoing with urgency.
“Thank you, Luna!” The unified response echoed in gratitude.
My steps froze in place as I witnessed one of the shadowy creatures tearing apart a small cub, with the mother wolf lying inertly beside it.
“Cursed!” I exclaimed, brandishing my claws to decapitate the monstrosity. “What the hell is happening here?”
My eyes turned to the sky and to the moon, which was tinted red. I squinted, perplexed by the lack of logic. A sinister glow captured my attention behind the gates; malevolent red eyes amid flames stared at me, displaying a demonic smile on their lips. I headed in that direction, but a thunderous roar caught my attention.
“Oliver!” I recognized that he was in danger.
I ran towards him, freezing abruptly when faced with a white werewolf, with black spots all over his fur, smiling between his fangs. He held the beta's body in one hand and, in the other, the head he had torn off.
“Conan?” My voice came out in a whisper, shocked by the macabre scene before me. I felt my pulse quicken; his scent had turned into something sinister, similar to that of the shadow king. His aura was murderous, and his predatory gaze was staring fiercely at me. “What have you done?”
I gasped, widening my eyes in shock.
“Shhh, aunt, calm down... I killed the big bad wolf!” Conan put a claw over his mouth, producing a sinister sound.
I stepped back in fear, and in the distance, I heard the roar of King Lycan, signaling that the beast was under control and heading towards us.
“Harvey...” I covered my mouth as I returned to my human form. “No, this can't be happening!”
Conan grabbed me firmly by the arms, displaying a psychotic smile.
“It's time for a family reunion!” Conan shouted, making me disappear with a touch of magic.
