Epilogue I

Hope

We heard the helicopter approaching the territory before we saw it. I took the day off to spend some time with Alexander after dropping off the twins at their respective schools to start the semester.

"Can that be Derrick?" I asked Alexander. We were both standing outside, looking at the helicopter as it approached. He shook his head.

"Derrick uses our company's helicopter when he flies," Alexander said. A cough from behind us grabbed our attention. We both turned around to find Mark, grinning. Obviously, it was good news.

"Alpha, the pilot just radioed in that Drew Long-Drago is requesting to land." Alexander's face lit up instantly.

"Who's Drew Long-Drago?" I asked curiously. I haven't seen Alexander this excited to see someone. He was only this excited when I wore sexy lingerie in the bedroom.

It was puzzling though. I have seen most of Alexander's past, but there were portions which were obscured from my sight almost purposely. I always wondered how that was possible.

Maybe Drew was a mage or maybe his mate was.

"Drew was my bestfriend while we were in school. Oh my Goddess! It has been what? Twenty-three or twenty-four years. You are going to like him, Hope. He's your boy next door kind of guy," Alexander rambled. I smiled. He had only kind words for Drew. He must be a really nice guy.

As we peered up at the sky, waiting for the helicopter to descend and land, we suddenly heard a very loud noise. From the right side of the territory, a bright object flew across the sky with smoke billowing behind it.

"RPG!" Mark exclaimed. "It's going to hit the chopper!"

"No, it's not!" I yelled. I raised my hands in the air and quickly created a shield around the helicopter.

The rocket propelled grenade hit the tail area of the helicopter, the impact creating enough force for the helicopter to lose its balance making it spin out of control.

My mother's favorite ring began to glow, its magic helping me secure the helicopter. It took me time, but I maneuvered the chopper to land safely on the ground.

Once it was on the ground, I collapsed onto my knees. The helicopter was heavy and my magic was rusty. If Anya was here, she would have done everything effortlessly.

"Mark, take David and a team of men. Find who shot that RPG at the helicopter," Alexander said while pulling me up in his arms. Mark bowed and went off to find the culprit who almost assassinated Drew. "You okay, Hope?"

"Just a bit rusty, I'm afraid," I answered, hugging him. His warmth always gave me strength. "This isn't good, Alexander. Whoever planned this wants us to take the blame."

"And cause a war among wolves," Alexander mumbled, the disbelief in his eyes. "But who?"

"We'll get answers from your friend," I said, tugging on his arm to assist me. "Come on. Let's see how he is. I'm afraid I wasn't able to shield them from the impact."

"They're alive, Hope. Thanks to you. If the pilots need medical attention, we'll bring them to the hospital."

Inside the helicopter, the two pilots seated in front were unconscious while the lone passenger, a tall man wearing a dark gray suit sat in his seat unmoving with blood trickling down the side of his head. He had light brown hair that had specks of white in it and was as tall as Alexander. I could smell his Alpha aura.

"Drew!" Alexander yelled. He hurriedly unfastened his seatbelt and pulled him out of the helicopter, laying him gently on the ground.

I placed a hand over his wound and proceeded to heal him. After several moments, he opened his eyes and looked at me confused. I could see the fear in his light brown eyes as he surveyed his surroundings.

"Drew, buddy. It's okay. This is my mate. She's here to help," Alexander said, crouching down.

"Leia? She doesn't look like Leia."

"Uhm, Drew, don't you remember I broke up with Leia?"

He sat up with his brow furrowed. "Why do you look so old, Alexander? There's white in your hair."

Before Alexander could say anything else, I intervened. "Hi! My name is Doctor Hope Ulrich. Let's get you inside." I helped him up and he smiled gratefully, relaxing a little, knowing I was a doctor. "Alexander, call 911 for the pilots then call the High Elder. His mate must be worried."

"Isabella? I doubt Isabella Cuevas cares where Drew is," Alexander scoffed. I didn't know who Isabella was, but I didn't agree that Drew's mate did not care for him.

"Look at his face, Alexander," I said as I watched him look around the territory. He was searching for something, for someone... as if there was a part of him that was missing. "This is a wolf who is loved. Look at the lines on his face. He spent years smiling and laughing." Alexander didn't look convinced. "Fine, I'll call Amelie. I have a feeling she will know what to do." I placed an arm around Drew's shoulders. "Come, Alpha Drew."

He squinted his eyes towards the blue sky and shook his head.

"Do you remember something, Alpha Drew?"

"Blue eyes. The bluest of blue eyes I've ever seen... even bluer than the sky. Blue eyes like the color of the ocean during a calm sunny day."

There was a yearning in his brown almond-shaped eyes while his voice sounded like a caress as he spoke. He was in love with someone with the bluest blue eyes.

I smiled at him tenderly. "While we walk, why don't you describe these blue eyes to me." He smiled weakly and lowered his head like he was ashamed of himself.

"I know this will sound strange, but have you ever felt that there's a person out there who completes you? Whenever I see those blue eyes in my mind, I feel whole... complete."

I nodded my head and glanced at Alexander. "Alpha Drew, you and I, we have something in common."

All of a sudden, we heard a commotion coming from the right side of the territory. Mark and David were back from their search and they were dragging someone wearing tactical gear. I inhaled deeply and noticed the wolf was a rogue. I sighed. Here we go again.

"Remove his mask," Alexander said. David quickly took off the black ski mask to reveal an Asian wolf in his thirties underneath.

Alexander asked him something in Chinese. I didn't know Alexander knew how to speak Chinese. French and Spanish yes, but not Chinese. Due to the obscured portions of Alexander's memories, there was still some things I didn't know.

"I know how to speak English, Wolf," the Asian man said, scowling at Drew. "My name is Chao. I am here on behalf of your uncle, Alpha Drew. He sent me to assassinate you."

"Uncle Kai wants me dead?" Drew asked, shocked.

"Yes, he wants all three of you to burn for banishing us from the pack. You, Luna Fire, and your daughter Crystal," he spat. Alexander growled and punched him in the face

"Take him to the dungeons and make sure the silver burns his skin," Alexander told Mark. Mark smirked. It's been a while since he escorted someone to the dungeons.

"It will be my pleasure," Mark replied. He grabbed the Asian man by his hair and dragged him towards the back of the territory.

Drew was clutching his forehead, trying to remember. I quickly led him into the mansion and sat him down at the dining table. I gestured for one of the housekeepers to serve us some tea.

"Can someone get in touch with my father, Elder Dante Drache? I have a daughter and a mate who's in grave danger. I may not remember who they are, but I feel it's my duty to protect them. Please, Doctor Hope."

"Sure, Alpha Drew. Have some tea and biscuits while I make the call."

I took out my phone and dialed Amelie's number. I needed to get to the bottom of this.

"Ah, ma cherie, I was expecting your call," Amelie said.

"So you must know why I'm calling," I answered.

"Yes, I do. Is it possible that you keep Alpha Drew there as a guest for the time being?"

"About that, he is suffering from amnesia, High Elder. I'm afraid the impact from the blast caused some trauma," I explained.

"The amnesia is temporary," Amelie said. "A spell placed by his mate, the Wolf Enchantress, to protect their daughter who is currently at Oxford Univeristy and to protect the location of the Flaming Sword in case he is abducted."

"The Wolf Enchantress?" I asked, surprised. No wonder Drew was speaking about someone with blue eyes. "I read a book about her, but I thought she was a myth. How do I get in touch with her? Is she in England? Is it possible for us to meet?"

Wow! Alexander's bestfriend's mate was THE WOLF ENCHANTRESS! How in the world did I not know this?!

"You sound like a fan," Amelie said, chuckling.

"I am. I've always wondered if vampires were real and she is the only wolf who can answer that question," I squealed excitedly. "Amelie, please! I have never asked you once for anything. CAN I PLEASE MEET HER?" I heard Amelie sigh.

"Come to New York after Alpha Drew is picked up by his father. Elder Drache is already on his way there. And oh, the Wolf Enchantress specifically requests Alpha Alexander and Mark to accompany you. Only the two of them. By the way, Alpha Hope, dress for royalty. The Queen is here."

"Queen? What do you mean by-"

The line suddenly went dead. Typical Amelie... She always wanted to surprise everyone.

I placed my phone back in my pocket and giggled. Oh my gosh! I needed to get ready.

"Alpha Drew, your father is on his way to pick you up," I told him. He smiled gratefully and continued drinking his tea.

I excused myself and ran outside to find Alexander. I made a bubble around us so no one could hear our conversation.

"Alexander, we're flying to New York!"

"What?! Why? Does Anya need something?"

"No. We are going to meet the Wolf Enchantress!" I exclaimed happily. He rolled his eyes at me.

"Hope, here we go again with this obsession with vampires. Vampires aren't real and the Wolf Enchantress is a legend...a myth...a story."

"No, she's not, Alexander Ulrich! She's Drew's mate and is currently in New York with Amelie," I answered. "Drew's father is coming to pick him up. The Wolf Enchantress put a spell on him for security purposes. I'll place an invisibility spell on him and his father just in case his uncle is still looking for him. By the way, Alexander, the Wolf Enchantress requests for you and Mark to accompany me, only the both of you."

"She requested for me?" Alexander asked, startled.

"Specifically. So, do you think she's still a myth?"

"I'm still not convinced, but if she's with the High Elder, then there must be some truth to the matter," Alexander said, his tone dismissive.

I stomped my foot angrily. I saw the scared expression on Alexander's face. My eyes must have turned green.

From a distance, thunder rumbled.

"Alexander, ARE YOU COMING WITH ME OR NOT?!" I asked annoyed. "Because I'm going to New York with or without you!"

"We're going... we're going. Sheesh!" Alexander exclaimed. "I'll have Mark get everything ready for our departure." I kissed him on the cheek and saw the relieved expression on his face.

I quickly returned to the mansion. I needed to pick an outfit for royalty.

After assisting Drew to the couch to watch some television while he waited for his father, I excused myself and went upstairs to pack.

I was so excited... I was going to meet a legend!
