Chapter 58: Saving Her
Chapter 58: Saving Her
(Allie’s POV )
A sharp pain shoots through my stomach. I cry out in pain. The tears streamed down my face dripping onto my lap. Just as the pain was about to subside, another sharp pain shot through me out of nowhere, causing me to scream even louder. Nickie lowers her hand, looking at me confused.
“ What is going on? Are you delusional? I haven’t even touched you yet! ”
“ T..The….B.Baby!” I try to say through agonizing pain. She looks at me shocked.
“You're pregnant?” She calls out.
“ Plea...se, I need to get to a doctor.” I pleaded, but the evil smirk on her face told me that she is not about to let go of her leverage on me.
“Too bad. I guess I must kill you, and the baby now. Two birds with one stone. Just think how devastated Jack would be if he found out that his Mate and unborn were killed by the rogues." A cold shiver goes through my body. To think that this is my last moment on earth. This is so unreal.
I would never live to see my unborn baby’s face or to hold its tiny body in my arms. I would have given anything to see that. My baby would never grow up to take its first steps or to know how it would feel to go to school. It will all be taken away from my little peanut before he is even born.
I Close my eyes as Nickie steps closer. This is it! I never got the chance to tell Jack how much I loved him and how excited I was to become his wife. I hear Nickie as she approaches, but I can’t focus on her footsteps approaching me right now, because the pains started to come back. I bite down hard, bracing myself for the pain. I have accepted my fate. The pain wouldn’t last long, because Nickie is going to kill me now anyway. Soon the pain would all be gone. The pain builds gradually until I can’t take it anymore, and I scream, unable to hold it back. My body starts to shiver, but I am not even cold.
After the wave of pain had subsided, I realized that Nickie had quiet completely quiet. I should have been dead by now, but I wasn’t. I open my eyes, lifting my head weakly, my eyes widen as Jack quietly enters the room, shutting the door before rushing to my side. Nickie stands frozen in shock, her face turning as pale as a white sheet. Something tells me that she didn’t expect Jack to show up.
I look up at Jack, his eyes are drained and tired, but nevertheless grateful to see me. He turns his gaze to Nickie, anger visibly showing in his eyes.
“ J..Jack, I can Explai.” She barely finished, when Jack’s hand latches onto her throat like a snake suffocating its prey before devouring it.
“ This is the last time you would ever try to hurt my Mate again.” His grip around her neck tightens. Her claws dig into Jack’s hand, trying to free herself, but she is unsuccessful.
I watch in terror as her feet lift from the ground and she struggles to fight free. With one swift motion, Jack threw her across the room against the wall. Her body falls to the ground motionless. Jack rushes back to my side, tearing the ropes that were tied around my hands and feet effortlessly.
“ Oh Allie, My sweet Allie.” He cradles me in his arms. He rocks me back and forth to soothe me.
“ What have she done to you?” He kissed me all over my face, while my glossy eyes peered up at him. I force a smile.
“ You found me. I knew you would.” I whisper.
“ I am so sorry That I didn’t find you sooner.” We sit huddled together for what feels like decades. Jack caresses me softly, whilst I hold his hand in mine, cherishing his touch. If only we were far away, back home, in the comfort of the Lakehouse, next to the calming water.
But reality hits us like a ton of bricks. I can barely stand on my own two feet, and Jack is trying to pick me up so he can carry me and help me escape, but those few short minutes of joy are investable shattered as the door of the room opens once more, and three men stand in the entrance of the door.
Fear infects my insides as all three of them stand there with devilish glints in their eyes. Jack immediately releases a warning growl and stands defensively to block me with his body, guarding me. I must move slightly to the side to see past him.
“ Your dead Alpha Prince!” One of the rogues shouts. His eyes shine with terrible mischief.
“ We knew it would be hard to get to your precious Mate if she was in the city, so we waited patiently for her to leave without you.” His gaze narrows.
I see Jack’s shoulders tense, with only being able to see his back, I watch his muscles shift with each breath before finally hearing him speak.
“ Even if all three of you tried to fight me, you still wouldn’t be a match.” I doubt Jack Is trying to force them into a fight. Instead, he is trying to ward them off, making them second-guess trying to fight him.
If Jack had to fight, he would be lured away from me. But Jack’s warning doesn’t scare them off. One of the guys launches himself at Jack, and the two battle in their human forms, throwing blows and taking punches as they clash with terrible snarls and growls emitting from their human lips, but as expected, Jack has the upper hand. He is an Alpha and built more muscular.
Seeing that the other guy alone is no match for Jack, the two other guys also jump in, both hitting Jack from either side, but Jack’s reflexes are sharp and quick. He splits his focus between them, blocking and attacking each correspondingly. In the midst of this, I notice Nickie, slowly regaining consciousness, collecting herself off from the ground. I watch her as her gaze grows more desperate and concerned, and she lunges out of nowhere, towards Jack.
The third member increases the workload for Jack, and whilst he’s still able to maintain control over the situation, he’s slowly growing overwhelmed, and is drawn further, and further away from me, and the four still can’t manage to take him down.
I notice that Nickie’s gaze every so often flickers at me. With Jack distracted, I am left exposed. I begin to wonder why Nickie is more focused on me than on her opponent, till I realize her plot. She is forcing Jack to move further away from me. Suddenly, Nickie’s feet shift positions, and her form turns towards me. Jack then suddenly realizes his mistake. I can barely move. My body is so weak that I am unable to save myself. I feel myself almost surrendering to whatever attack Nickie has planned, and I close my eyes once more in fear.
Even with my eyes closed, I can feel the powerful force coming at me, till the blow never came. I open my eyes to see Jack as he faces me. He cages me against the wall with his strong arms, leaving his back vulnerable to the onslaught from Nickie and the other three guys.
My eyes well up with tears as his face flinches in hurt. The scent of blood is now prominent in the air and Jack is losing a lot of it as all four of them pound and claw at his back.
Out of nowhere, a growl came from the door, distracting Nickie and the other guys, and giving Jack enough time to shift into his wolf form. I don’t know who the wolf by the door is, but it looks like it is on our side as Nickie backs up from Jack.
“ Hello, cousin. Nice to see you again.” She speaks. Now realizing that the wolf in the doorway is Matt.
Matt lurks closer to her, and she backs up with her back against the wall, before going down on all force. The bones in her body started to crack and light-colored hair covered her entire body. Matt’s wolf patiently waits for her to finish her shift, before he storms for her.
Jack is still fighting the other guys, from which only two are left. The one was already defeated and lying on the floor.
Jack doesn’t give the two guys a chance to get near me. Now that he is in his wolf form, his reflexes seem to be even faster. There is confidence in Jack’s movements that I realize is from his understanding of the best way to fight them off. Up close, it is rather obvious that they are no match for him, but I still can't help but feel afraid. While Jack and Matt fought the rogues, my stomach pains started to return.
