Chapter 57: Secret tunnels
( Jack’s POV )


Matt and I left early this morning to take a run around the borderlines. We have arranged for guards to accompany Allie and Sasha to the human town, to keep an eye on them while we inspect the border lines for rouges. We won’t be here long before we return to the girls.
I couldn’t tell Allie to stay and wait for us to return. I could feel that she was anxious and eager to return. I didn’t want to upset her by telling her that I didn’t want her to leave my side at all times. I don’t want her to feel trapped in a cage.
There have been more rogues crossing our territory without permission lately. If other packs find out that these rogues can cross our borders without consequences, then every wolf will take a chance by intruding on our lands. Permission has to be granted in order for them to enter our land, any pack lands that aren’t their pack.

“ Your Highness? Please hurry!” One of the guards Mind-linked us. “ Yes Luka, I am here. What is going on? Did you find more rogues? ” There was silence before Luka spoke again.

“ We have been ambushed. The girls were in an accident, and Allie was taken by the rogues while they were on their way to the human town through the forest road!” My body goes cold with fear. This can’t be happening.

“ God dam it!” I shout with frustration.

“ How the fuck did this happen, Matt? In our own territory! Right under our noses. These rogues have been taking me for a fool! ”

“ They took us both for fools. It must have been an inside job. How else would they have known that we were going to be out on patrol.”

“ Luka, Is Sasha, okay?” Matt asked concerned.

“ She tried to fight them off but got hurt in the process. She is being taken to the infirmary as we are speaking."

" Fuck!" Matt shouts, turning his gaze to mine.

" Go, Sasha needs you. That is an order." He sprints off in his wolf form in the direction of the city.

" Luka, where are you now?"

" We are at the accident site. Just three miles from the border gate of the city."

" Wait for me there. I am on my way." I ran through the forest at lightning speed. My wolf fumes with rage. His has completely taken over." We must find Mate." He growls.

In a few minutes, I was by the crash sight. I noticed the car crashed into the tree, and my mind immediately went to Allie and the baby. Why didn't I feel that she was distressed or in danger?

" Your Highness, we are so sorry. We tried to keep our distance in the forest like you told us, but these rogue wolves appeared out of nowhere. We tried to fight them off, but they were too many for us. Sasha was brave. She managed to injure one of them before another rogue got ahold of her."

" What about the other girl, Becky? "

" She went to the infirmary with Sasha. She didn't get hurt."

" And Allie. Was she okay when they took her? "

" She was unconscious when they took her from the car. She must have passed out from the accident." My wolf howled in pain.

" We must find Mate immediately." He growled.

I mind-linked more wolves to help with the search. Luka and I set off into the forest following the scent. There is no time waiting around for the rest of the pack to arrive. We follow the scent through the forest until we reach what looks like a tunnel dug into the ground. It must be new because it wasn't here before. There is no scent coming from the inside of the tunnel. They must have used a scent masking spell from a witch to cover their scent.

From the look of how deep the tunnel is, it looks like they have been planning this for a while. Just as we were about to go inside the tunnel, the rest of the pack arrived. Some of the wolves stand guarded by the entrance of the tunnel, just in case some of the rogues try to escape.

My wolf is howls. He can't wait any longer. He wants his mate. I try to hold him back a little while longer to make sure that we aren't entering a trap, but he is too strong. We rush into the tunnel with super speed until reach a fork in the tunnel. I order Luka and the rest of the pack members to go down the tunnel on the right, and I go into the one on the left.

It is pitch black with darkness. If it wasn't for my wolf vision, I would be walking into the walls and stumbling over rocks.

I can't help but worry about Allie. If they as much as lay one finger on her, I would kill them and all bets will be off for the rouges having their own land. I would kill everyone who helped arrange the kidnapping of my mate.

Just when I thought that I was close to the end, I reached another fork in the tunnel. I take the one on the right this time only to end up with a dead end, forcing me to turn around and go back. Arriving back at the split tunnels, I take the one on the left this time.

" Jack? Are you there?" Matt mind-links me.

" I am here. How is Sasha doing?" I asked concerned.

" It is not looking good. Her leg is broken and she has two broken ribs. Luckily, she is a werewolf now, and she will be all healed by tomorrow, the doctor said.

" That is good news, my friend. I am glad she will be okay."

" Do you have any news about Allie? Have you found her?"

" No, not yet, but we did come across a tunnel leading into the ground. judging by how deep the tunnel is, with many split forks, I would say that they have been hiding here from us for a while, planning on how to ambush us."

" I will come and help you with the search, that way we can find her faster." He breaks off the link before I can tell him to stay with Sasha.

I continue down the dark tunnel only to end up at a fork, yet again. This time, I decided to take the tunnel in the middle. This tunnel is a lot narrower and air is getting scarce. I have to crawl on my belly the squeeze through the tunnel as it gets narrower by the second. I was just about to give up and turn around when I heard a thud sound above my head. I look up and notice a small wooden door. I can smell Allie's scent coming through the gaps between the wood.

I hear a woman's voice. I spread my ears to listen more carefully. It's Nickie's voice. She is talking to a man.

What the fuck is she doing here? Is this where she has been hiding all along? That is why Matt could never track her down. She was hiding right under our noses, covering her scent with a witch's spell, and I already knew who the witch was. You would think she had learned her lesson after I threatened her last time.

Nickie is the one who has arranged all of this, even the capture of Allie. My wolf is fuming with rage. " Let's kill that psicho bitch." He groans. " Not yet. We still have to find where they are hiding Allie.
