Chapter 137 My World

Chapter 137 My World
Bailey

I watch Jericho sleep beside us in his bassinet in the castle dining room while Rian and I eat dinner, and I can’t stop thinking about how fast he’s growing.

“I love him so much,” I say.

Rian glances over at the bassinet, then back to me. “Me, too.”

“I’ve been thinking,” I say.

“Should I be worried?” he asks, grinning.

“Maybe,” I laugh. “I was thinking about the Moonstone Bridge.”

That gets his attention immediately, and he looks up at me with a more serious expression.

“What if we use it so I can take you and Jericho to my realm?” I ask. “So my mother could meet him, and so she could meet you too.”

Rian leans back in his chair, his gaze moving toward Jericho before coming back to me. “Bailey… that could be dangerous. We’ve never done anything like that before. What if it doesn’t work? What if all three of us end up in different realms?”

“Believe me, I’ve thought about all of that,” I say. “But I wouldn’t suggest it if I wasn’t certain it would work. The spirit guides told me it would work. They even decorated his nursery in our little cabin. Moonstone Bridges were made for traveling between realms.”

Rian is quiet for a moment, thinking it through. “I believe you. I do. I just don’t want to take him through something like that without someone who understands it fully watching over our journey and protecting us.”

“Then we could ask Simkah,” I say immediately. “She can observe. If she says it’s not safe, we won’t even try it.”

Rian nods. “That’s what I was going to suggest.”

“Good,” I reply. “Then let’s call her.”

I call for Simkah through the mind-link and a few moments later, a crimson-orange glow fills the room, spilling across the walls and table. The light gathers in the doorway, and Simkah appears as if she’s stepping through a veil.

Her wild blonde curls frame her face, and she wears layered, flowing garments of dark purple silk, gossamer and tulle, with small silver moons scattered through the fabric. Her eyes immediately go to the bassinet.

“He’s growing,” she says, her pretty eyes sparkling as she smiles down at our little boy.

I stare at Simkah, still amazed by how fast she answered the summons. “Thank you for coming so quickly,” I say. “It’s not an emergency or anything. We just have a question for you.”

I explain what we’re thinking—taking Jericho through the Moonstone Bridge, going to my realm, letting my mother meet him, making sure Rian is with us.

When I finish, Simkah nods. “What is your question?” she asks.

“You don’t see danger in it?” Rian asks.

“Of course not,” she replies. “Bailey is a white witch. She holds the power. Moonstone Bridges were built for passage between realms.”

“Would you please watch over us?” I ask. “Come with us?”

Simkah nods. “I’ll meet you at the Alchemist Tower on the next full moon. I’ll observe the crossing. If anything is unstable, I will intervene, but don’t worry. You’ll soon see that you don’t need me to travel between the realms.”

“Thank you, Simkah,” I say, beaming.

“Yes, we appreciate you very much,” Rian adds.

“This is what the Threshold is meant for,” she says bowing.

Simkah steps closer to the bassinet, her expression softening as she looks down at Jericho. “He’s beautiful,” she murmurs. Then she lifts her gaze to us. “Farewell, Alpha and Luna Gray.”

She steps back toward the doorway, where there’s a flash of crimson-orange light, a scattering of sparks dances through the air—and then she is gone. The glow fades, leaving the room quiet and still.

“So, we’re really doing this?” Rian asks.

“I’m so excited for you to meet my mom and see New York City,” I say. “Next full moon!”

He smiles. “I’m a little nervous for both of those introductions, but I’m incredibly excited too.”

As we finish our meal, I tell Rian about New York City—how it’s never quiet, even at night, with people still moving through the streets, lights on in every direction, and trains and cars running through the city that never sleeps.

When we’re done, I gather Jericho from his bassinet and leave the dining room together.

The full moon is high when we arrive at the Alchemist Tower. Jericho is bundled against Rian, and Simkah is already waiting at the top of the tower steps, her blonde hair catching the moonlight.

“Good evening, Alpha and Luna Gray,” she says, her eyes immediately going to Jericho before lifting to us. “And little Jericho. I see you’re ready.”

“We are,” Rian says, adjusting Jericho in his arms.

Simkah nods. “Then let us begin.” She steps aside, gesturing to the stone circle in the chamber. The etched markings pulse faintly under the moonlight.

I take a deep breath, reading Ava’s instructions. Every symbol, every phrase is written out clearly. I speak the enchantment, letting the Moonstone Bridge respond to the words. The circle glows.

“Hold onto the vision, white witch,” Simkah instructs. “Do not break focus.”

I whisper the final phrases, and the world bends around us. There is no running, no walking, only the sensation of being pulled inside the air itself.

In an instant, we are inside the cabin. Everything is still—my sleeping body lies in the bed, and I sink fully into it. Jericho is in Rian’s arms standing near the bed beside me.

When I get out of the bed, I look at Simkah hovering near the doorway, crimson-orange light blazing around her. “Everything is stable. You have arrived,” she says. “Farewell, royal Gray family.”

With a scattering of sparks that hang in the air for a heartbeat, she vanishes.

Rian lets out a sigh of relief, glancing around. “We’re really here.”

I smile. “We are! I’m so happy!”

We move into the living room with the fireplace. Rian strikes the flint, and the kindling catches quickly, flames spilling golden light across the cabin. Jericho stirs in my arms, fussing a little, and I sit in a nearby chair to nurse him.

Our little family is safe, together, and finally here in my realm. I can’t stop smiling, thinking of showing my mom her grandson and sharing this place with Rian.

He steps back from the fire, and his eyes sweep across the cabin. “This place,” Rian says, “is solid, cozy, and damn gorgeous. I like it. You did well in choosing it, my love.”

“I’m glad you approve.”

“So… what should we do for dinner?” he asks.

I laugh, considering it’s near midnight and we already ate dinner. “We should order a pizza.”

He raises an eyebrow. “A pizza? Bailey… you’ve gone on and on about how amazing this New York City pizza is so many times that it had better actually live up to your hype.”

I grin. “It will. Trust me. If you’ll bring me my phone, I’ll order one. It’s charging over there.”

He looks at me like I’ve lost my mind. “Phone? Charging?”

I point to the phone. “It’s plugged into the wall.”

He walks over slowly, his eyes wide, takes my phone, cord and all, and hands it to me like it’s some sort of strange talisman. I unplug it, tap a few buttons, pull up an app, and within moments, I’ve ordered from a pizza place that will actually deliver way out here this late. Rian leans against the wall, still watching me with that half-amused, half-curious expression.

“See?” I say, smiling at him. “Easy.”

He shakes his head, grinning. “You and your magic.”

I laugh, brushing Jericho’s cheek softly. “It’s going to be so much fun showing you two my world,” I say, feeling the thrill of having them here with me this time.
