Chapter 121 121

Chapter 121 121
Julian’s POV

If there was a punishment somewhere for what I just did, I should receive the nugget form of it. I made her say what she did not have to say.

I knew.

I fucking knew how she felt about me. And even though I could not read her mind because it was so damn hard to, I knew that she was going to confess how she felt for me. It was obvious on her face and her body language.

Before now, I could tell that she liked me. There was a time when she slipped and told me when we were having sex. I can’t forget that day, but I knew she did not remember, else, she would have stayed away from me out of embarrassment or something else.

So I kept it to myself. I wanted to be the only one to enjoy that. She made it obvious in a subtle manner that she liked me.

But then, today, after the call I received, I knew it could not happen. At least not now. Not on my terms. Not until I dealt with Arnold first. He was a very big obstacle to the plans that I had. I can’t believe this is happening to me right now.

She did not want to say it again. But being the selfish person that I am, I pushed her to say it even though I knew that was what she wanted to say and that it would not end the way that she was thinking it would end. I still made her say it.

“Julian, say something.” Her voice was strung out, and it hit me deep in my gut and somewhere deep within.

I’m sure she had her hopes up. Hell, it was obvious in the way she was looking at me expectantly.

I took two steps back. I felt like a bastard to do this to her. On a day like this, at that. I never put something like this on my mind. But I know that it would mean something to her.

“You should not like me.” I finally said, breaking the ice.

“What?” She asked, her eyes wide. It was like she was trying to process what I had just said.

“You heard me, Kimberly.” She flinched, and I growled in my head, trying so hard not to touch her.

The conversation I had with Arnold earlier started to replay in my head again, and that made anger surge within me. I should do this once and for all and let it all die down. Let her know that I did not want her, even though she was the only thing that mattered in my life. Even though she’s been the one holding the edge together for me since I can remember. I had to tell her that she meant nothing.

“You don’t mean anything to me. It was all a game. It’s nothing too serious. And I did not expect you to catch feelings. I thought you understood how it’s supposed to go.” I said and stepped back again like she was about to enter the wall to get away from my harsh words.

“What are you even saying?! Are you listening to yourself?” She asked in a shaky voice that disrupted my head. She was shaking visibly. And I prayed silently that this doesn’t affect her in any way.

“Come on, Kim. This whole thing started because you wanted someone to play with, no? Even though I was crippled then. But then, I decided to play along. And we’ve been playing since then. So why do you feel the need to make this more complicated than it's meant to be?” My voice came out colder than I intended it to.

“Oh, my God.” Her hands came to her mouth, and she covered them like she was just realizing that she was being played.

Fuck.

“So, all of the care, the support, the worry that was shown to me, it was all a lie? Is this some kind of elaborate scheme to you?” She asked me, and I sighed dramatically.

“Wake up, babe.” The words came out like bitterness in my mouth.

“You’re a bastard. And I hope you rot in the pit of hell.” She snapped, wiping the tears that fell from her face angrily, and stalked away, body visibly shaking.

The noise that I had purposefully zoned out creeped in immediately when she left. It was like she took the peace she had brought to me with her when she was leaving, and I felt like I had nothing.

I can’t believe that I just did that.

The day was not over yet, but it felt like it was for me. When I was finally able to leave, I walked to the class, but then she bumped into me when she was hurriedly trying to leave.

“Stay out of my way.” Her anger rolled off her in waves. Same with sadness. And it hurt me to know that I was the cause of it. That I was the one who put that there.

I stood rooted to the same spot as I watched her leave. She looked like she was leaving school, and the only thing that was on my head was to go after her and make sure that she was safe.

“What’s up with y'all? What did you do?” Cole stood beside me, mirroring my stance.

“What makes you think that I’ve done something?”

“It’s very obvious. She was crying when she came into the class.” He said and froze.

“Fuck fuck fuck….”I said over and over as I dashed in the direction she went. Thank goodness that I had my car keys with me.

There is no way she can leave in that condition. But I was too late by the time I got to the lot. She was zooming off. On her bike.

I started my car and zoomed out of the place. The guy at the gate had a confused expression on his face, but then, he did not stop me. Not like I would have stopped anyway. I only had one thing on my mind.

Kimberly.
