Chapter 86 Shopping or Date.
My mind was on Camille the whole time I was in my office. Ever since she came into my life, I realized I've been distracted quite a lot, which is unusual for me.
After our truce last night, things were quite normal this morning. It was actually like every other morning, just that there was a bit of awkwardness in the air.
I did try to lessen the awkwardness by asking Camille if vampires could fly and all. I was glad the question made her laugh, and she explained that only fairies, faes, and dragons could fly. Sometimes witches fly with black magic, but vampires and werewolves cannot fly.
I was truly amazed that all these creatures she mentioned existed. If I hadn't seen her true form with my own eyes, I probably would have doubted her.
But I have to admit, even as a vampire Camille was truly beautiful, and her name is also very beautiful. I have to admit she's the most beautiful woman I've ever seen, so maybe it's one of the traits of being a vampire.
"Hey Josh!"
Adrian's voice rang out as he barged into my office without bothering to knock.
I snapped out of my thoughts at his presence.
"Hi, Josh."
He took a seat across from me, grinning from ear to ear.
"You know, I thought about going to your apartment to wait for you, but I remembered you now have a hot housemaid, and I don't want to be disrespectful in my best friend's house."
"You did the right thing," I told him with a bit of jealousy, although I have no idea why I'm even jealous.
"My housemaid is dangerous."
He raised an amused brow.
"What do you mean she's dangerous?"
I leaned toward him, looking as serious as ever, and whispered, "She's a vampire, Adrian, and if you're not careful, she's going to drain out all your blood."
I hoped he would believe me and stay the hell away from her.
Adrian also leaned in, looking very serious as he whispered back, "And I'm a secret vulture, Josh."
"What?" I asked in confusion, and he burst out laughing.
"Oh come on, Josh, you need to stop joking around. All you had to do was tell me to stay away from your housemaid. You didn't have to make up a lame excuse that she's a vampire."
He laughed again, but I wasn't laughing.
"I'm being completely serious, Adrian."
He grinned.
"Which is strange, because you've never been this serious about a girl. Ashley must be special, huh?"
He winked at me, and I rolled my eyes and gave up on him.
But in that moment, I realized something.
No one is going to believe me if I told them that my housemaid is a vampire. They will look at me like I've gone crazy, and my friends would only laugh at me.
I guess right now it's only right that I keep Camille's identity to myself.
\---
Camille was watching television when I returned home.
I gulped when I saw that she was wearing only spandex shorts and a black tank top.
No doubt, Camille is very beautiful, but seeing her walking around the house like this is sort of disturbing.
She noticed me standing by the door and smiled brightly.
"You're back, sir!"
In a flash she was in front of me.
My heart flew to my chest.
"P-please, C-Camille. Can you not do that? You almost gave me a heart attack."
She rubbed her neck sheepishly.
"I'm sorry. I was just excited to see you."
Her answer warmed my heart.
I stared her down again and cleared my throat.
"Don't you have anything else you can wear?"
She looked down at herself with a frown, probably wondering what's so wrong with her dressing.
"Uh, I don't have much clothes, and I've washed the ones I have. That's why I'm dressed like this."
This won't do! She can't walk around the house like this. What if Adrian came in here while she's dressed like this? I bet he would feast his eyes on her without shame, and I can't let that happen.
"Come with me, Camille. I'll give you one of my clothes and then take you shopping. Is that okay with you?"
For a second, she looked surprised, but then she nodded with a big grin.
"Yes, sir, that's completely okay with me!"
I smiled in relief.
"From now on, call me Josh. You calling me sir makes me feel kind of old."
Her smile was soft this time, almost shy.
"Alright, Josh."
My heart fluttered in my chest, and I couldn't stop a smile from slipping onto my face.
And maybe I'm really wrong about Camille. Someone as cute as her cannot be dangerous.
Camille followed me to my room, and I gave her one of my polo shirts and jeans. They were a little baggy on her, but she looked very beautiful in it, and I couldn't help admiring her in it.
She looked really nice, and if I could look at her all day, I would.
"You look very beautiful, Camille."
I couldn't hold back the compliment, and Camille's blush deepened.
Feeling a bit embarrassed for complimenting her out of the blue, I cleared my throat.
"Let's go."
I left the house, and she quickly followed behind me.
But it was just shopping, so why am I so excited about it?
It's not like I'm going on a date.
Although a part of me kind of wished it was.
