Chapter 148 Finding Khaos.

Chapter 148 Finding Khaos.
KATE’S P.O.V.

I knew it would be difficult to find Khaos from the beginning. It wasn't easy during the last war against Helios, and I didn't expect it to be difficult, but to my surprise, trying to connect with Khaos was not just difficult, it literally felt impossible.

Usually, the connection to Khaos was like a low hum in the background of my mind, a constant, reminder of his presence, his moods, and his power. But now, it was gone. It felt as though a vital organ had been surgically removed, leaving behind a cold, hollow abyss. I sat on the edge of the bed, my eyes closed, straining every mental muscle to reach out, to whisper his name into the void.

But unfortunately, there was nothing, not even a flicker of light or spark. He hadn't just walked away; he had severed the link. He had locked his mind behind a fortress of iron, and no matter how hard I hammered against it, he wouldn't let me in.

Panic began to rise within me. I had to tell him, I had to warn him about the Moon Goddess’s vision and her curse if he does nothing to stop it. A greater evil was coming—something that would make Helios look like a mere kitten in a tiger fight. And if he didn't stand up, if he allowed his heart to remain frozen in his rage, the curse on him would eventually come to past. He would spend eternity as a god with the power to create worlds but unable to experience the joy of love and happiness.

I couldn't let that happen. Not just for the sake of the world, but for him. I stood up, and got ready before making my way to the courtroom. Domenic left before I even woke up. My dear husband was still looking for ways to stop Josh, but I doubt Josh can be stopped now. His mind is made up. I just need to thread carefully and plan brilliantly on how ro find the beast, but for now I needed to know the status of the war. Soon Josh would march into battle. If only we had a chance at delaying it.

When I entered the courtroom, the atmosphere was tense and deadly. Everyone was ready, ready to unleash chaos upon the world. Alpha King Raymond had also arrived. He stood at the center of the hall, looking different from the last time we met. He was in every bit a King and a warrior, but the young man I knew was now older. His beards were massive and his hair longer. He was leaning over a map and talking to Josh. The sight of them together, made my stomach turn. This war was really happening.

"Thank you for coming, Raymond," Josh said, his voice dripping with appreciation. "Your help will be needed greatly." They didn't seem to have noticed me yet.

Raymond nodded, his expression grim. "We’re with you, Josh. The Lycans don't take kindly to the murder of an ally. We’re ready to help you in your revenge." He paused, looking around the room, his brow furrowed. "But where is Lord Khaos? Is he not joining the war? We’re going to need him on our side if the dragons and faes has really joined the witches."

Josh’s eyes hardened in anger and hatred. "Lord Khaos has abandoned us."

The room went silent and Raymond looked stunned. "Abandoned us? Why would Lord Khaos abandon us? This war would end easily if he joined our side."

"Because he’s a coward! We dont need him to fight this war for us. We can do it ourselves." Giron snapped, stepping forward. His expression was sly and evil, and it didn't take a genuis to know he was enjoying this disaster that was happening.

"Lord Khaos walked away because Josh was too stubborn to listen to him! Josh pushed him until he had no choice but to wash his hands of us!" Domenic argued back in frustration. It made me happy to see that he was still doing his best to stop the war.

Josh glared at Domenic in anger. Right now he doesnt look like the Josh we all knew. The sweet loving King who promised to rule peacefully by Camille’s side. I guess grief can really change a person.

"Khaos abandoned us because he doesn't care, Domenic! He’s a god of peace and balance, right? Well, there is no balance in the murder of a Queen! He should have picked a side—the right side—but he chose to be indifferent. He ran away from his own responsibilities."

"He was created to protect all life, Josh!" I stepped in causing all eyes to fall on me. Alpha King Raymond looks especially surprised to see me. I stared straight at Josh as I continued. "Picking a side isn't in Khaos nature. It’s not in his blood. You wanted him to destroy a part of the moon goddess children who he was created to protect, how do you think that was gonna work?"

Raymond cleared his throat, looking sheepishly from the arguing brother in laws, to me while scratching nervously. "So... is the war happening or not? Because my men are camped outside, and they’re more than ready to help."

"The war is happening," Josh declared, slamming his fist onto the table with finality. We will match to destroy the witches before they cause more harm to our Kingdoms whether Khaos is with us or not."

I looked at Josh, seeing the iron resolve in his gaze. I knew then that I could no longer reach him. The man we knew was buried under a mountain of grief and vengeance.

"I know I can’t stop you anymore, Josh. But I won’t sit here and watch this world burn without trying to fix it. I’m going to look for Khaos, and I'm going to talk to him. I won't let him abandon us."

Josh looked at me, a brief flash of something like sadness crossing his face before it vanished just as quickly as it came. "You're free to go, Kate. You're his Guardian afterall. But don't expect us to wait. The witches have to pay, and every second we sit here talking is another second they think they’ve won."

"I’m going with her," Domenic said immediately, stepping to my side. He took my hand, his grip firm and protective. "I won't let her wander the world alone while a war is coming."

Raymond stepped forward as well. "I’ll volunteer two of my best trackers to go with you. If the Beast is out there, they’ll find his scent. He couldn't have gone far if he had been here before."

"Thank you, Raymond," I said, feeling a small spark of hope. At least someone here understands a bit.

We didn't waste another minute. While the palace behind us buzzed with continuous preparations for a deadly war, Domenic and I left the Kingdom followed by two of Raymond's best soliders.

I looked up at the stars, a determined expression on my face. I had hope we would find him.We have to. If we didn't, the war would destroy everything we sacrificed our lives for. And Khaos would be cursed. For some reason I can't get such harsh curse out of my mind. He has to stop this war.

"We’ll find him, Kate," Domenic whispered, pulling me closer as we hurried towards the woods.

"We have to, for all our sakes."
