Chapter 7 Two Strange Men aka Lunatics.
I spent two days in that cave with the strange woman. She was nice to me and never made any move to hurt me or do anything bad to me. She didn't seem like a mad person either, but I was still wary and I wanted to get out of there as fast as I could.
Mom would be so worried. Quinn will be wondering what happened to me and Jason would probably be laughing his head off thinking I am afriad of showing my face to the school.
I really can't let this end like this. I have to go back home.
I had told the strange woman time to time that I needed to leave, but she kept saying that it's dangerous out there and I shouldn't go out just yet, but I have decided that enough is enough. I am leaving this cave tonight wether she likes it or not! I'm not going to live in a stone cave like an animal.
I waited when I was sure the woman was asleep. In those two days I was here, I have memorized the exterior of the cave. I knew where the exit is and also where the strange woman sleeps. There were at least two rooms in the cave, I stayed in one and the woman stayed in the other.
She told me that the room I stayed in was more like a temple for the moon goddess and I had somehow fallen onto the moon goddess alter.
She's just that strange and her words gave me a headache, but I didn't bother too much about her. I'll be leaving soon anyway.
When I was sure it was dark and the old woman was asleep, I sneaked out of my room and walked down the cold corridor of the cave. The cave was designed with artifacts and cavings on the wall. There were lit candles on many part of the cave, and it made sneaking out easier.
I had longed changed from my dirty white gown to a more comfortable long black dress that was given to me by the strange woman. It was a bit difficult to walk in it, but I did anyway because at this point I was very desperate to leave this place.
I tip toed past her room and headed straight for the exit. The moment I was out, I ran as fast as my legs could carry me. The woods was dark and cold. I could barely see everything around me, but I didn't care. I'll find my way for sure.
I ran until I got tired and decided to rest at the foot of a tree. I sat down on the rough ground and thought about my mom, Quinn. What would they be thinking now? My car was still in the middle of the road. Quinn might call the police if she doesn't find me.
But maybe they will find Domenic. He is still injured and hiding in a cave somewhere. At least he would be saved.
I thought about his smile and how he called me cute. His hot body that got me burning up without him even touching me.
I sighed as I imagined his hands on me. I know we probably won't ever see each other again, but I want to return home harbouring the knowledge that he's still alive.
I looked around me scanning the darkness. I myself need to survive this.
Maybe I just need to go a little further. I might not be far from the road. I fell into a hole somewhere close to where I parked my car and maybe the strange woman rescued me and brought me to her cave. I just need to go a little further.
I stood up again and was about to begin my journey towards the unknown. But I stopped in my tracks when I heard a loud powerful growl that almost threaten to throw me off balance.
My heart pounded in fear and my body shook vigorously.
What was that?
I looked behind me, and I gasped when I saw glimpse of glowing red eyes. In the darkness, I could not see whatever it was making that noise except it's terrifying eyes, but God knows I am so fucking terrified right now.
I didn't wait to find out what that that was. I took to my heels and ran as fast as I can. Heavy paws shook the earth and my thoughts were confirmed.
A wild animal is chasing me! Probably the same animal that chased Dominic and I that day. I can't believe it's still lurking around.
I was panting hard as it got closer and closer to me. To my misfortune, my leg got caught underneath a small rock and I went stumbling forward. I didn't get up fast enough. The unknown animal growled as it came closer.
It was dark, but I could see it's glowing red eyes, wild and evil coming closer. "S_stay away from me!" I screamed, fear and desperation to live taking over me. "Stay away!!!" I cried out, tears rolling down my eyes.
The animal kept coming closer and my heart was beating so fast.
I'm gonna die!
God I'm gonna die!
I love you mom!
I love you Quinn!
I wish we had a chance to meet again Dominic!
Fuck you Jason!
The animal pounce on me, and I screamed and turned away from it awaiting the impact, but it never came.
When I looked in the direction once again, I saw the silhouette of two men standing in front of me. One had a sword in his hand, and the silver blade glowed under the moonlight.
I couldn't see their faces well in the dark, but their eyes were glowing red like that of the animal that almost attacked me.
"It's a human girl!" A deep voice spoke into the air. Thick and masculine, but there was an edge to his tone that made his words sound unpleasant. He said it like I was a curse, a disease. Like my being human is abnormal.
"What is a human girl doing in the dangerous woods without a master?" The other spoke. His voice was softer and gentler.
"Who cares. We wasted our time saving her. She smells amazing anyway. We should have our way with her and leave her body to the monsters."
My blood ran cold at his cruel words even though I have absolutely no idea what they were talking about. But I understand the part where they plan to kill me.
"No Linus, she's a strange human without a master lost in the dark woods, and she also smells different. Enchantingly so. We should take her back to the palace let the prince decides what we do about her."
I frowned a bit offended. What the hell does he mean by 'I smell different?' Even though I lived in a cave for two days with that strange woman, I took my bath three times a day.
How rude!
"If you're gonna call someone smelly, at least can you be a little discreet about it?!" I snapped before I could stop myself. At first they did nothing but stare at me, then I stood up and glared at them. "Thanks for saving my life but I don't take kindly to insults, and what is this talk about taking me to a prince? Are we in the 17th century or what?" They remained silent and I sighed tiredly, "I just keep meeting one lunatic after another."
"How dare you call us lunatics you pathetic human slave!" The cruel guy growled as he took a step closer, but the other guy held him back.
Human slave!
The nerve of this prick!
"It's obvious she's not from here Linus. That's enough reason to take her to the prince." The other suggested.
I was still confused. My eyes found the sword in the hands of the guy called Linus. Who uses a sword in this day and age?
Wait, what's going on? Where am I?
"What's your name human?" The kind man asked softly.
I gulped as I contemplated telling them or not. I don't trust strangers. Whoever these guys are, they aren't good news. But this one is nicer. Maybe he could help.
"My name is Kate." I answered slowly.
"Where did you come from Kate?"
"California. I live in Los Angeles."
They both gave themselves strange looks. "She's from the human world!" Nice guy exclaimed. "How did you get here?!" He asked again urgency in his tone.
"I fell into a hole and tada I found myself in a cave with a strange woman and..." I stopped and frowned at them, "what's with all these questions?"
He paused for a second before speaking the most ridiculous words I have ever heard. "You came from the human world Kate and somehow you found your way into the supernatural world."
I blinked fast and hard. "Super what?!"
"You're in the supernatural world Kate, and currently in the vampire Kingdom."
Yup!
Someone please wake me up!
