Chapter 6 The Woman In A Cave.

Chapter 6 The Woman In A Cave.
My body felt light like I was floating in clouds. My eyes were still closed, but I could tell that I was laying on something very soft and comfortable.
I smiled in my sleep enjoying the softness of whatever cloud I was laying on. Damn, I never want to get up from here.
A light bulb clicked in my head and I remembered how I fell down a hole in the woods. I was with Dominic Darkshadow and I left him wounded in that dark cave.
My eyes shot open and I sat up quickly. I looked around me. I was in a dark place but something was glowing underneath me lighting up the cave.
I looked down on what I was laying on and gasped in shock. It looks like a sea of glowing white feathers, and the light from the feathers lit up the cave.
There was no windows and I couldn't find a door. The stone walls looked rough and cold. I'm definitely not in a regular room. This place looks ancient.
Hold on a minute. Am I dreaming? I pinched myself and yelped at the pain.
Shit! Definitely not dreaming.
I gasped when another thought came to my mind. Could it be that I'm already dead?
I looked around me again. If I am really dead, did I make heaven or is this hell?
Wait, my phone!
I searched around me hoping to find the device. I only let go of it when I fell into the hole, it must have fallen along with me. But unfortunately, I didn't find my phone anywhere on the feather bed.
I glanced up expecting to find an opening above me, but to my disappointment, the ceiling was just as stone cold as the walls.
"Where am I?"
"You're awake," a female voice called out startling me out of my mind.
I gasped and stared in the direction where the noise came from, ready and alert. I was prepared to blot out of here or fight my way out if the need rises.
Out of the darkness, a woman emerged. She was an old woman in a flimsy white dress. She had petals of pink flowers decorating her long greying hair. Even though she was slightly old, the woman was still extraordinarily beautiful like a goddess who came down from above to dwell among humanity.
"You're awake," she said with a kind smile. I noticed there was a tray in her hands containing two small bowls. She dropped the tray on a huge rock beside me and sat at the edge of the bed studying me carefully.
"Are you feeling better?" She asked and reached for my forehead, but I flinched and moved away from her touch.
I don't even know you woman!
She chuckled as if hearing my thoughts but dropped her hand anyway. "I don't mean to scare you Kate. You had quite a fall and I was worried about your head. How are you feeling?"
My fear and suspicions grew. "How did you know my name?"
"I know a lot of things about you Kate," she said like it was enough explanation to my question. "You have to eat and regain your strength, then we can talk." She picked up the tray and placed it on her lap.
I scrunched up my face in disgust when I saw what was in the bowl. It looks green and unattractive, and on the other bowl was water, clean and sparkling.
"What is that?!" I asked repulsed.
"Soup," she replied smoothly. "I'm sorry, but there was not much ingredient for me to make a proper meal."
I looked at her face, and then back at the disgusting thing she just called soup.
"I'm sorry, but I'm really not hungry. Can I leave. I really have to go home." I'm sure prom is long over now, and even though it wasn't over, I can't go there with my dress all messed up. It's covered in mud, blood and dirt.
At the thought of blood, Domenic came to my mind, but I quickly pushed out the thought. I shouldn't worry about what happened to him right now. My main priority is finding my way home.
Regret clouded her expression, "I'm afriad you can't leave just yet Kate. The monsters are still out there and they will devour you if you go out of this cave."
"Monsters?!" I exclaimed in disbelief. What the hell is she talking about?
She nodded, "yes Kate. Shadow monsters, they are wild and dangerous. They have been causing havoc in our world for two hundred years now. The vampire's do not stand a chance against them, not to speak of a mere human like you."
I was already spouting a headache because of the bullshit this woman is spilling. What the hell is shadow monsters? It sounds like something gotten out of an anime.
This woman must like watching a lot of movies, but I decided not to argue and just play along. When the time is right, I will find my way out of here and return home to my mother.
"Eventually," the woman spoke suddenly like she had just read my thought.
I stared at her strangely, "a...are you listening to my thoughts? Can you hear my thoughts?"
"It's one of the few powers the moon goddess bestowed unto me. Just like you, I have been blessed by the moon goddess."
Just like her I have been what now?
Moon goddess, mind-reader, shadow monsters. How the hell did I encounter such a complete lunatic.
"So you read minds?"
She smiled with a nod.
Okay that is beyond creepy, not that I believe her but I have to be mindful of my thoughts around her.
"So, what do you mean by I am blessed by the moon goddess just like you? I don't even know the woman, so why would she bless me?"
The woman was still smiling kindly and I was starting to hate that smile. Why is she looking at me like everything happening is normal, like I was meant to be here.
"We are all children of the moon goddess," she answered. "She gifts her blessings to whoever she sees fit enough for it."
I nodded pretending to understand all she shit she was saying. "Right. So, what special ability have I been blessed with? I mean, am I going to be wonder woman now or what?"
She laughed again, but I don't find anything funny about this situation. "Not exactly. Only you know what gift the moon goddess had bestowed on you. I'm sure with time you will figure it out. For now," she gestured towards the tray of her supposed soup. "Eat."
I gave her my best fake smile, "thank you, but I'm not hungry. When I'm hungry I will eat."
I have absolutely no intention of eating something that disgusting looking. What I have to do now is find my way out of here before I get really hungry.
