Chapter 144 The plan.
Chapter 144 The plan.
Domenic’s POV.
Ever since getting the news about Camille's death, the happiness I felt earlier suddenly vanished, but I tried so hard to pretend that I'm okay for Lucia's sake. I can't believe that my sister is dead. I've lost a mother I never got to know, a father and now my sister who has always looked out for me even when I hated her.
I was enraged. Why did the witches have to do what they did? It wasn't hard to guess. I feared something like this would happen anyway. Helios must have followers among the witches, and by doing this he would start a war between the witches and Vampires. If both parties asked for support from other creatures in the supernatural world, the war would become even more massive and bloody.
A hand on my shoulder drew me out of my pained thoughts. I looked to my side to find Kate staring at me with eyes filled with concern and sadness. She must feel the same as I do. My sister who brought nothing but peace, and ruled the kingdom with compassion and kindness was no more. I doubt Kate and I are the only ones who would feel this way.
"Are you okay Domenic?" Kate asked softly.
I ran a hand through my hair in frustration. "I'm not Kitty. Thats the truth. My sister is dead." I held the tears back. "I feel so useless right now. I couldn't even save her."
"Calm down Domenic, its not your fault. It couldn’t be help." She held both side of my face looking deep into my eyes. "She may be dead now love, but I know she wouldn't want to see us mopping around and getting angry, ending up ruining the peace we all fought so hard for. You must stay strong so we can stop the war before the world collapse."
She's right. I was angry, enraged, ready to stand by Josh and wiped out those witches, but Camille would never want that. She's always wanted peace, and we have to respect her wishes.
"You're fight Kate. Lets stop the war."
The door bell sounded and I left Kate's side to open it. Lysander and Quinn stood there with sad looks on their faces. I had called Lysander earlier and told him everything. The sad look on his face told me everything. He was heartbroken; Camille was his Queen and his friend.
"We came as soon as we knew what was happening." Quinn said stepping in with Frederick.
The little boy smiled, "Hi uncle Domenic and aunty Kate."
I ruffled his hair while Kate rubbed his cheek. "Hey Fred. While dont you go to the living room and play with Lucia while we have a talk with your parent."
"Sure!" He said happily and scurried off towards the living room.
"Your son is starting to smell like a vampire Lysander." I pointed out once Frederick was gone.
Lysander sighed, "not just that. His fangs are starting to show and his thirst too. Ive been discussing taking him to the vampire Kingdom, but Quinn hasnt really agreed yet."
We looked at Quinn and she groaned. "Come on guys, you've got to understand that being away from my boy is going to suck, and Lysander doesn't want me to go with them."
"That's because it's dangerous for you Quinn."
She pouted, "Let's leave that topic first and focus on the news about Camille's death." Her expression turned sorrowful and she pulled Kate into a hug and then me, "I'm so sorry about what happened. So what do you guys plan to do now?"
"We are going to the vampire nation. A war is coming and we have to stop it." I replied.
"I'm coming with you," Lysander said, his voice eager and ready. I nodded already knowing that I can't talk him out of it. Lysander has always been loyal to the throne and to his Kingdom.
Quinn spoke up, "if thats the case, I've made my decison. Take Frederick with you," Quinn said, her voice steady despite the tears in her eyes. "Just for a month or two. He needs to understand what he is before he accidentally hurts someone here. I know I was reluctant before, but I'm to let him go now." She grabbed Lysander’s hand in hers, "but you must promise to bring him back to me safe and sound. Protect him with everything you have Lysander. Please."
Lysander looked at his wife with profound pride and determination. "I promise you Quinn, no harm will befall our son." Lysander promised.
Quinn nodded, then turned to Kate and me. "I’ll take care of Lucia. She’ll stay with me until you return. Please... send my condolences to Josh and Lorenzo. I can’t imagine what they’re going through."
"Thank you so much guys." I looked at my friends, my makeshift family. The peace of the last seventeen years felt like a beautiful dream that was finally ending.
"Orincess !" I called out, and our daughter came running in with Federick following behind her.
"Yes Dad?" Her eyes fell on Quinn and Lysander. "Hi uncle and aunty." She waved at Quinn and they waved back with smiles. Lucia stared back at me, "you called me Dad. Is everything okay?"
I knelt down and hugged her, memorizing the scent of her hair and the warmth of her hug. "Princess, you’re going to stay with Auntie Quinn for a little while, okay?" I whispered. "Mom and I have to go help Uncle Josh with something important. "
Lucia looked at me, her eyes wise beyond her years. "Why does uncle Josh need help? Is he okay? Is Auntie Camille also okay, or does it have something to do with Lorenzo?"
I swallowed the lump in my throat. I didn't have the heart to tell her the truth. "Everyone is okay princess. We'll be back soon okay?"
"Okay, I guess I'll get more time to play with Fred."
"Uh, Fred is coming with us." I sheepishly.
She pouted. "Why does Fred have to go and I can't?!"
"its complicated honey, but im sure one day you'll understand. Just promise to be a good girl for your aunty okay?"
"Okay," she hugged me again and then I let her be so she could talk to Kate as well.
For some reason, I'm having a really bad feeling about this war.
