Chapter 86: Transfer Of Frustration
Chapter 86: Transfer Of Frustration
Damian Black's POV:
The moment Nadine saw both of her bodyguards, she turned her frustration into words and snapped at the two individuals who had done nothing to deserve it at that precise moment. I knew why she chose to do such a thing. In the back of her mind, she knew she wouldn't like the consequences of her action if she snapped at me. So, in a similar manner, she turned her irritation toward the new, incoming, and unsuspecting parties who had joined the tense atmosphere of the plane's cabin.
"What the hell have you two been?" Nadine questioned both Mathis and Andres.
It was obvious she was deeply frustrated by this point. She knew she couldn't speak to me in such a manner, or so she thought, and did the next best thing. As I turned to look up at both Mathis and Andrew, Andre turned to look in the same direction. As they came into view past the short entry hall, they both stopped there just inside the entrance to this very cabin.
They even attempted to stand shoulder to shoulder. However, I didn't give them the opportunity to speak up in their own defense. Instead, I spoke up first.
"Nadine, do you not see that they were gathering and now your belongings to you?" When I asked this, I turned to look back at Nadine. "Or did you not want a few things that you wanted to take on this honeymoon trip?"
Still, she didn't bother to look at me, as she was still glaring at both of her men. My tone was not as pleasing as one should speak to their wife, but also, I wasn't just any groom. I spoke more with a corrective tone. Then I turned my attention back over to Mathis and Andrew as they glanced over at me, noting my tone as well.
It was more than obvious, I thought. Both of their hands were full from carrying small luggage bags, small enough to be considered to be carry-on bags. I don't understand how Nadine seemed to miss the fact that it was literally right in front of her face. All she had to do was pay attention to what was in front of her.
They were her men. They had been with her for some time. Did she not know what they were capable of after all of these years? As I said in my previous statement, both Andrew and Mathis held up the items they were carrying, clearly showing they were each holding two small bags in each hand. Upon seeing this, she needed to apologize for her arrogance, but knowing Nadine, I bet that was asking too much.
Both of them lowered their hands back to a resting position as she again dropped her shoulders, leaning back in her seat. Andre looked across to Nadine and lightly shook his head from side to side whenever he turned back to face me, as his eyes went wide with shock.
"Andre," I spoke in an informative tone so that everyone in the room heard what I was about to say. "Go ahead and collect her..." I paused as I turned to look at him and added, "Her trash wrappings, if you will. Remove it from the plane so we could be on our way and inform everyone else to load promptly."
"Yes, boss," Andre said as he stood up to his feet.
He walked over to the small table that was positioned in front of where Nadine was seated, and I wouldn't be surprised if he gave her a stern look, letting her know that she messed up. I didn't need to say anything to him. He was well within his right to do so. She needed to know she was to trust the word of my men when it came down to it.
That's why they were along for the ride in the first place. That, and the fact that I had business to attend to while we were there. Then, I turned my attention back to Nadine's men when I spoke next.
"As for the two of you," I stated, also speaking in an informative manner as I was still looking at Nadine for a moment longer.
I knew that Nadine was looking at me this time, and I was going to use this as an example for her. I wanted her to know her place, and the place of the people whom I employed. I then turned my attention back to Mathis and Andrew, as they had previously parted ways so that Andre could take out the trash and not fill up the small trash compactor in the back galley.
They stood up straight, standing there. At least waiting patiently for what I was going to say. I raised my chin slightly before I spoke next as they stood there in the entrance of the cabin where I was located.
"Take her things and put them away in the back," I said, all without looking back at Nadine. "Set them where they need to go and then take your seats. We are about to take off shortly."
"Yes, sir, boss," both Mathis and Andrew said nearly at the exact same time.
I was pleased that they knew I was the one in charge. In the back of my mind, I couldn't help but feel that Germaine gave them a bit too much leeway and Nadine fed off of that energy. He therefore allowed her to practically come and go as she pleased. She didn't have a job and only did what her father said when and how.
That would no longer happen. She was my wife, and I would ensure her safety, whether she was with her men or with me, with one of my own men tagging along.
"You see, Nadine," I said when Mathis and Andrew had just passed between us and were still within earshot to hear my next statement. I made sure to add, "At least the two of them know how to take orders."
I could tell by her dropping the designer shoulder bag on the table in front of her and by her crossing her arms in front of her chest that she didn't like what I had to say. I turned back to the front of my seat as I again looked out the window.
It didn't bother me one bit that Nadine didn't like what she heard. She could sit there and sulk all she wanted. Nothing was going to change my view on this. I meant nothing.
