Chapter 176: You Want to Crash Into My Car?

Chapter 176: You Want to Crash Into My Car?

Jane's POV

Andrew brought me to try on wedding dresses today. He and his good friend Jamie kept fooling around. Jamie seems to be into men - he's been acting really playful around Andrew.

It's like he's trying to flirt with Andrew.

Too bad Andrew is straight - he prefers women.

Of course, I know Jamie is just messing around with Andrew, especially when he lightly pinched Andrew's butt. That made me want to laugh.

Andrew's butt is quite firm. It feels really nice to squeeze.

I've squeezed it before.

After we finished ordering the dress at Jamie's place, I went into the fitting room to change. When I came out, Andrew, who had been waiting for me in the lobby, was gone.

Jamie came up to me holding a set of car keys.

I asked him curiously, "Where's Andrew? Where did he go?"

Jamie told me, "He just got a phone call. Said he had something urgent to deal with, so he left you with me."

"And I have to say, Andrew is really thoughtful about you. He specifically told me to drive you to the Lopez mansion myself."

"Mrs. Lopez, you're really lucky."

Jamie's compliment made me feel fortunate. Indeed, since I got pregnant, Andrew has been very attentive to me. He's really worried something might happen to me.

Every night when we sleep together, he holds me tight in his arms like he wants to swallow me whole. I think he's a bit too nervous.

When Jamie offered to drive me, I politely declined.

"I know you're busy, how could I trouble you? This place isn't that far from the Lopez mansion. I can just take a rideshare back."

I don't discriminate against gay people, but being around Jamie makes me feel kind of awkward.

Facing my refusal, Jamie waved his hand in denial.

He said, "If you want me to live a few more days, give me the chance to drive you back to the Lopez mansion."

"If you really take a rideshare back, when Andrew finds out, he'll probably chop me up."

"That guy is scary."

Since Jamie put it that way, I didn't refuse anymore. The two of us left the shop together and got into Jamie's car.

His car was a flashy red sports car, very fitting for his personality - that kind of flamboyance gave him a youthful, energetic vibe.

He drove out of the parking lot. As the car turned, I caught a glimpse of what looked like Katherine sitting in a black sedan.

I was puzzled. Why would Katherine be here? What was she doing here?

While I was wondering, I looked up and noticed there was a law firm in the building where Jamie's studio was located.

I figured Katherine must be here at this law firm to hire a lawyer. She really is devoted to Michael. Even if she hired a top lawyer, she probably wouldn't be able to get Michael out on bail.

Thinking about what Michael did, my expression darkened.

Jamie seemed to notice my bad mood. He asked, "Mrs. Lopez, you look a bit upset. Are you unhappy that Andrew didn't personally drive you home?"

I smiled and denied it. "No, it's something else. Andrew is so busy. As his wife, I shouldn't keep him tied down all the time."

"Even though we're married, we should each have our own space, right?"

My words made Jamie, who was driving, nod repeatedly.

He said, "That's so true. Andrew is a celebrity, and being a celebrity's wife must be hard."

"But Mrs. Lopez, you're really open-minded about it. With your attitude, you and Andrew will definitely be very happy together."

"I have to say, Andrew has great taste."

Jamie talked a lot, going on and on. I responded occasionally.

I don't know why, but from the moment I got in Jamie's car, I had this strange feeling of anxiety.

At a fork in the road, Jamie, who wasn't very familiar with the route, suddenly asked me, "Mrs. Lopez, to get to the Lopez mansion, do we take the left road?"

I nodded and said, "Yes, turn on your signal, we're turning left."

Just as I said that, a black sedan suddenly shot out from behind Jamie's car. The sedan jerked in our direction and scraped against Jamie's car.

Just as we were about to collide, Jamie sharply turned right, and the car went straight onto the right road, barely avoiding the crash.

This dangerous scene scared me so much my heart nearly stopped.

Jamie cursed at the car outside, "Damn it, how do you drive? Do you even know how to drive?"

"Believe it or not, I'll get out and kill you."

Hearing Jamie's cursing, my tense mood eased a little.

I advised him, "Just drive carefully, stop cursing."

"Although that black car forced you to turn the wrong way, there seems to be another fork ahead. We can turn around up there."

I was thinking too simply. Just as I finished speaking, the black sedan that had just cut us off shot toward Jamie's car like an arrow.

Jamie must have spotted the danger through the rearview mirror. He decisively hit the gas and accelerated, barely avoiding being rear-ended.

The next second, beads of sweat appeared on Jamie's forehead.

"Damn it, are we being targeted? That black sedan behind us keeps trying to hit us."

What Jamie said made me nervous again. I looked at the rearview mirror on the other side of the car. Through it, I saw that the driver of the black sedan was actually Katherine.

She seemed to notice I was looking at her. She opened her mouth and forced out a cold, sinister smile.

That's when I realized my earlier anxiety wasn't without reason.

Katherine wasn't here to find a lawyer at all. She had already timed this perfectly - she was coming after me.

"Jamie, we need to speed up. That woman driving the car behind us is a complete psycho."

I told Jamie worriedly. At the same time, I reached out and adjusted the seatbelt across my body. If Katherine was determined to crash into our car, the seatbelt could protect me effectively.

Jamie seemed to realize how serious this was too.

He said to me, "Okay, I'll speed up now. Hold on tight."

"Some crazy woman wants to crash into my car?"

As he spoke, Jamie pressed harder on the gas. The car shot forward, leaving Katherine, who had been chasing us relentlessly, behind.

I let out a long breath, thinking the crisis was over.

But then...
