Chapter 104 Chapter 104
Chapter 104 Chapter 104
Agatha's POV
“Will my Mom be okay, Doctor?” I asked the Doctor immediately he stepped out of the ER.
“Are you related to her?” He asked.
“What kind of question is that? I just asked if my Mom is alright”.
“She's currently unconscious, but she's normal again.” He responded.
“Any complications?” I inquired.
“She passed out as a result of heart attack. Did she receive any bad news that had endangered her life?”
I shook my head slowly. “She suffers from heart attacks, Doc, but it's been long since she had an encounter with one until lately.” I sniffed.
“Well, did she receive any bad news?”
“No... She didn't.” I denied.
He observed at me for a while and nodded.
“Even though that's not what I think happened here, I will pass. She'll be moved down to a normal ward to resume her treatment there. I just need to drop some precautions, her heart seizure was as a result of receiving bad news, and she had almost lost her life.” He explained.
“What do I need to do, Doc?”
“She must be kept away from anything that's going to cause her an attack again. It's better you don't disclose anything you intend to tell her for the meantime, until she's cooperate. That way, It'd be more safe than sorry.” He replied to me.
“Thank you, Doc. I will do that.” I muttered, wiping the snots in my nose. Gosh, it was irking, and I felt embarrassed.
“Okay.” He uttered and walked away.
Throughout the day, Mom was still unconscious and Dad hasn't stopped scolding me for allowing Mom hear the news, despite how many times I tried to explain to him. She had been moved into a better ward for good treatments, but she wasn't conscious.
“Dad, I said I'm sorry, didn't I?”
“Sorry, can't change the fact that your Mom is still unconscious, Agatha! How could you be so careless to disclose the truth to her?” Dad scolded for the millionth time.
“She is supposed to know, isn't she?” I blurted, and Dad stared at me weirdly.
I rolled my eyes. “Don't give me that look,” I mumbled.
“Can you even hear yourself, young lady? I thought we planned not to tell her anytime soon. What happened?”
“Aaron did it. He is the reason Mom is laying on the hospital bed,” I blurted again.
“Why didn't you tell me sooner? Why are you just saying this now, Agatha?”
“Dad, will you...”
We were suddenly interrupted by a buzz sound that came from my phone. My brows creased, seeing it was the chief officer calling. Was something wrong with Eric?
Shakily, I swiped the green button. “Hello, officer?” I called with a shaky voice.
“Am I speaking with Agatha Sloan?” A deep voice which I recognized as the chief officer asked from the other end.
I glanced at Dad. “ Yes. Is there something wrong?”
“No, not likely. Mr Eric just requested to see you as soon as possible.” He replied.
“Okay, thank you, officer.” I muttered and hung up.
“Who is calling, and is there something wrong?”
“It's the chief officer, Dad. Eric wants to see me,” I squealed excitedly, and Dad blinked at me like I'd just descended from space.
“You sure it's not a trap?”
“Come on, Dad. I'm sure it's not a trap. Besides, Eric won't joke with such kind of thing. I have to go see him, ever since he shut us down from visiting him.”
“I will go with you.” Dad tried to coax me.
“No, you can't. You should stay back and look after Mom.” I told him almost immediately.
“You sure you can handle it yourself?” Dad stroked with my hair with a concerned look etched on his face.
“Of course. I have to go, Bye.”
Hurriedly, I left the house and booked a taxi towards the station when my phone made a ping sound.
It was the same message from last night about Eric's company, and I couldn't help but get more confused.
What was really going on?
Mustering the courage, I dialed Bea's line until she picked up at the third time.
“Bea?” I called first.
“M-Miss Agatha,” Bea called with a shaky voice, causing me to lift my brows curiously.
“Are you sick, Bea? Why do you sound so off?” I asked her.
“It's nothing, Miss Agatha.”
“If I may ask, what's happening to the company? What's with the messages about the shares? Is there something you aren't telling me, Bea?” I rushed my words, and there was a moment of silence in the air between us.
“Bea?”
“Bea?!”
“Miss Agatha... I'm sorry, please forgive me,” Bea pleaded out of the blues like she has done something wrong.
“What are you saying, Bea?! Why the fuck are you pleading?” I asked in disbelief.
“I failed as you told me, Miss Agatha. The shares are being sold off. The boards are taking their shares elsewhere...”
I was short of words for three minutes completely, and Bea's sniffs could be heard from the background.
How could she?
“Bea... I thought Eric trusted you,” I finally gathered my words after many trials.
“Miss Agatha, I'm so s...”
I couldn't take it anymore as I switched off my phone. Why were people so incompetent? How could she do this?
Eric's absence meant the company's downfall, and I could think of only one person who the boards of members could be carrying their shares to... Aaron-fucking-Walker.
“We are here, Miss.” The driver announced, causing me to drift out of my thoughts as I paid off my bill and walked away.
As I walked, I couldn't stop having a feeling that was the reason Eric had request to see me... He might have heard it.
The corps on duty led me to visitor's center as I sat and waited patiently for Eric till he came by.
He wore a blank expression on his face as if not being pleased that I heard came like he requested, or he was angry at me.
Jeez, stop thinking, Agatha. I thought.
“Finally, you want to see me.” I beaned awkwardly.
“I called you for only one thing.” He point-blanked.
Instantly, my heart raced as I muttered, “What?”
“What's going on with the company?”
Oh jeez! I was doomed.
I quickly covered the shocked expression on me with a small smile. “The company is going well and improving. Where did you get that information from?”
Eric gave me that particular look whenever he knew I was lieng and wasn't telling the truth. The look which would prompt me to blurt out the truth even when I tried to hide it.
“Aaron came to me.”
My jaw clenched at the mention of that bastard. “Mom is presently in the hospital because of him.” I slurred.
“Mom is what? Why? How did that happen?” Eric was befuddled by my response.
“She recently came back, and found out what has been happening lately with you in here, and Laura... Nowhere to be seen.” I paused, and watched as my brother's gaze softened upon hearing Laura's name. “She had a heart attack and passed out. Aaron came to me for confrontation, and then disclosed it to her.” I continued.
Oops! I guessed I'd blown it up because there was something new in the way he was staring at me.
“Confrontation? What kind of confrontation made Aaron walk into the house to see you? What did you do, Agatha?” He enunciated each word, and I knew he meant it.
“That was a slip of the tongue. Nothing...”
“Don't say nothing happened when something actually happened. What have you been doing during my absence?” He groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose..
I sighed in defeat. “I was looking for a way to bring you out of here, I was finding a way to know Laura's whereabouts.”
“And...?” He drawled.
“I used Bella.” I blurted.
“Why the fuck would you do that?”
“Because, I wanted to prove your innocence. Aaron has to pay for everything he did.”
“Still, you are risking Bella's life by using her against someone like Aaron. This isn't the only way to go about proving my innocence, Agatha!”
“You don't have to raise your voice...” I grumbled under my breath.
“I wasn't expecting this from you... Someone like Bella doesn't deserve to be trusted,”
“She left. She left when she realized everything. She changed, she helped me before Aaron decided to punish her, and she had to leave the country.” I explained, but he still wasn't convinced.
“I don't want you to get involved in this mess, don't pry into it, Agatha.”
“But...”
“I said don't!” He snapped.
“It's almost time up!” The corp at the post announced to us.
“Stop making yourself suffer! They are succeeding while you're here!” I snapped back at him.
“Leave, Agatha.”
“What?”
“I said, leave....” He growled lowly and stood up, walking out on me.
“Suit yourself.” I scoffed and sashayed out of the place, and immediately I reached away from no one's ear, I dialed a secretive line.
“I need one of your strippers tonight at Aaron's favorite club. I have a task.”
