A Monster Roaming The City

Bethany's POV

I was already in a bad mood because of Anthony's madness that morning and I lost the count of times I have hissed in irritation. I just could not keep it up with him.

I walked through the school corridor to see people in a group whispering to each other and I wondered what was going on. Did I miss a memo?

I was lucky to find one of the students and I decided to ask her what was going on. "What happening?" I asked impatiently and the female student smiled at me happily.

"Good morning ma'am," she greeted and I smiled embarrassedly, seeing that I had missed my etiquette.

I smiled apologetically back at the girl before returning her greetings. "Good morning to you too, hope you slept well?" I asked politely and she nodded her head. "Yes ma'am I am good," she said and I smiled.

"So about what happened…" I asked trailing off so she could continue. "Ohhh about the janitor being attacked," she says and I gasped hearing that.

Did the poor old man get attacked by thieves?

"Was he robbed?" I asked and the girl snickered hearing what I just said and I wondered if I had said something funny. "No, it's not robbery, he got attacked by a monster," she says and my eyes widened in shock.

A monster?

I was shocked to hear about a monster attacking someone in the city. The city was a peaceful one with little to no violence so hearing about a monster attacking someone I was beyond shocked. And I tried to ask where he was attacked and how the monster attacked. Those are crucial questions.

"So you mean the janitor was attacked by a monster yesterday?" I asked and she nodded her head telling me it was true. "He said the monster was human and also hairy. They could not make out what he was though a lot of people do not seem to believe it," the girl whispered and I smiled at her thanking her for the piece of information but I still had some questions left for her.

"Where was he attacked and how those the monster attack him?" I asked and the girl looked excited that I was asking her those questions though I do not know why she was so happy.

"He said he was on his way home yesterday when the monster came out from nowhere and tried to hurt him," the girl says, looking to make sure I was still listening. "I am with you," I assured so she would continue.

"But the people think he was just hallucinating because his wounds looked like he fell and there was no way a wound sustained from a monster attack would look like that," she says and I nod my head thanking her for the piece of information and I walk away from the school passageway.

I walked to my office while pondering about what I heard. A monster attacked a man? He is hairy and also looks human, why does it feel like I have seen something like that before I thought it was sinking into my thoughts.

"A penny for your thought?" I heard someone say and I raised my head only to see Anette staring at me with an amused look. "You are incredible, Beth, you can even get so deep in thought like this these days, that is awesome," I heard Anette say sarcastically and I sighed.

Of course, Anette is forever dramatic and I do not know what to do with her. "Did you hear about what happened to the janitor?" I asked Annette and he stared at me weirdly.

"Good morning to you too, Beth," she says and I rolled my eyes wondering why I kept forgetting my manners that morning but I just could not help it.

"I am sorry but it's just that I have been hearing a lot of disturbing news recently and I can not keep it to myself," I say and I see Anette looking at me with questions on her face.

"What's that?" She asked me and I asked her to take a seat. "Have you heard about the news of the janitor being attacked by a monster?" I asked and Anette nodded her head.

"Yeah, I heard it's one of the trending news in the school presently. I just hope the man is okay," she says and I nod my head but I decide to ask my question.

"Do you not think that something is fishy?" I asked and I saw Anette give me a confused look. "What did you mean by that?" She asked.

"I am telling you that, there is something wrong about the man being attacked by a monster that no one in the city knows of…..just like what we saw at the mall yesterday," I whispered the last part and I saw Anette give me a weird look.

Ok, I know it was weird but that does not mean to rule out the fact that there might be a possibility that it might get somehow connected.

"You have been watching too many horror movies, Best," Anette says standing up and I sigh knowing my theory might not be plausible.

"What about clubbing tonight?" Anette asked and I sighed wondering how she could even think of going to a club when she just heard about the unsettled situation that was happening around the community.

I sighed knowing I could not refuse her and since we haven't had a girl's night out for a kih tone I decided to give it a shot. "Sure, count me in," I say and she leaps in joy walking out of my office.

I watched as the door closed behind her and my mind went back to what happened earlier.

Could this incident really have nothing to do with this or is there a connection between them? I thought my thoughts were going wild but knew the truth…it's not going to end with just one casualty.
