Zion bowed to me the moment he pranced into my office , “Greetings the world richest man,” his head remained bowed as he spoke yet further, “The convoy to the airport is ready , boss, and your luggage are all packed up…”
I had been waiting for Zion since God-knows-when, so at the time I had lost my temper, “You dope!” I cursed, “What took you so long to do all of that, uh? You know how many hours it will take me to fly to Barcelona and yet you derived pleasure in delaying my trip!” I barked and felt my veins bulge through my brow.
He sounded gently, “My apology, boss. Please permit me to explain myself.” He raised his brow and sounded yet further, “I was supposed to be here earlier than but on my way, a strange British young man , a lawyer by profession wouldn’t let me go any further unless I take him to you…” he stole a glance at me while he lowered his gaze.
I raised a furious brow and yelled, “What! A lawyer? What do I have to do with a lawyer, uh? Is he not one of my fans? How can you allow a fan to delay my trip? What the hell!” I barked yet further and clenched my hands in wrath.
Zion bowed more powerfully and went down on my knees, “I stand to be corrected, the world richest man, but I need you to listen to him , boss. This is not just a fan but a man that would be beneficial to you…”
I interrupted him with a sigh, before sounding yet further, “Beneficial? How do you mean, zion? WHO is the lawyer you speak of and what would he want from me if not money. You know who I am. You don’t always have to listen to these fans. They could be mischievous…”
“Listen to me, boss,” Zion sounded in an emphatic tone, “He told me something that caught my fancy. It borders on a revelation you will use to avenge all that Morgan Harris did to you.”
I widened my gaze at him, shot a thoughtful frown at him and had seat before speaking yet further, “avenge Morgan Harris?”
Those words still rang in my head, till this moment, “Who could that be? A lawyer?” I contemplated and gestured at Zion, “Let him in,” I ordered. With anxiety hanging in my eyes, I really wanted to meet with this stranger.
Soon Zion left and returned to my office with this lanky , white-bearded short-haired, British-man, who seemed uncertainly familiar to me. I availed him the opportunity to have a seat with me after bowing to me repeatedly.
“Apologies for obstructing your privacy, the world richest man. I know you are a busy man. First my name is Tony Lamb, and I am a lawyer by profession,” the young man introduced himself and left me nodding in agreement just to hasten the discussion and get to know his purposed of visiting.
He wanted to speak yet further when I interrupted, “Please Barrister Tony Lamb, could you just stop beating around the bush and hit on the nail.” I flashed my diamond wrist watch at him, “Although I have an important meeting with the minster but I have the power to cancel the meeting because I believe you got something important to reveal to me about Morgan Harris.” I affirmed it with a nod, “Oh yes I can do that because I can’t wait to make Morgan Harris pay for the pains he brought upon me.”
I was yet speaking when the young man broke down in tears and bowed before me yet again, as though he was so dominated with guilt that he barely could behold my face.
“Heh, Barrister Tony Lamb, why are you all tears?” I queried and stood to my feet, “have you come all the way down to my office to weep like a kid, uh?”
“no, boss, no,” he wiped his tears hastily and perked up so he could utter a word, “Um, I am all tears because I feel so much guilt in my heart. I have wronged you in a great way. You may not recall my face but let me bring it to your notice that I feel so much gilt for being the lawyer that sent you to jail…”
I stamped my feet on the ground as I pounced to my feet, “The lawyer that sent me to jail? Were you Morgan Harris’s lawyer?” I queried in a furious, quarrelsome tone.
He gave a nod and lowered his gaze, “Recently when you paid the medical bill of poor patients at the hospitals in Rio Hondo my wife happens to be a beneficiary. When I traced it and found out that you are the same Brian Patrick I sent to jail over the stolen fifteen billion dollars, I felt so much guilt and regret…”
I gazed upon this enemy with disdain and grit to make him pay for all the excruciating agony I went through in jail. But he bowed and pled “Apologies, boss for all the pains I caused you. You have every right to tame me or even take my life, but please show mercy. I was wondering how I am going to pay you back for saving my wife’s life by paying her medical bills and then I decided to confess to you…”
I groaned, “What do you have to confess, speak!” I yelled, “I am all ears!”
“You are innocent,” he sounded, “You never siphoned the fifteen billion dollars, rather Morgan Harris did. He only used you to escape jail.” He gazed upon my bogey face and said through clenched teeth, “I still have all the forged exhibits and documents he used to siphon the money. Morgan Harris is a criminal boss and must face the law. If you permit me I can help you send him to jail with these documents.” He slammed some documents on the table, “I can also testify against him.”
I said through clenched teeth, “I will have need of you, Barrister Tony Lamb, because already Morgan Harris is facing his doom.”
