“I will be very busy in the next twenty fours. I got a consortium meeting in Madrid and it is very pertinent I honor the meeting. Have you informed my pilot to get the private jet ready?” I asked Zion.
Zion who had remained bowed asked gently, “Yes, the world richest.” He raised his head abruptly and said yet further, “what would become of the Fanny’s. They have been waiting and they have fallen asleep at the reception. Are you still interested to meet with them?”
I grinned and my jaw sagged, “I don’t have business with bunch of bankruptcy ingrates. To hell with them,” I intoned and quickly waved at my security and we dispersed.
Fanny Luis and Melissa had slept off when it was their turn to meet with me. When they got a tap on the shoulders, they flinched and rubbed their eyes only to see Zion standing before them.
Melissa threw a glance at her watch and it was past seven. She sighed heavily and stroked her auburn hair before staring at Zion. “It must have gotten to our turn now. Can we please go inside and meet Brian Patrick?”
Zion stood staring at them menacingly and wondering how they would feel if he should tell them the bad news.
“I can’t believe we slept of at the reception. This is absolutely gross.” Fanny nagged and yawned before gazing upon Zion, “Can we please see him now?” he stood up with his briefcase and about to take a step and Zion interrupted him;
“The chairman has closed for today and left for home,” Zion beamed sharing an arrogant stare between them.
“What! Melissa exclaimed and stamped her feet furiously on the floor. Her lips curled as she shut her eyes and raised her gaze at the ceiling.
Fanny gnashed his teeth, “This is embarrassing!” he yelled at the tops of their voice as his jaw set. “After the time spent Brian Patrick chose to embarrass us! How could he do such a thing? Didn’t he see the purpose of visit as a matter of urgency? I stated everything on the form. We shouldn’t be treated like a piece of rags!”
Zion raised a brow, “This is an office, Fanny Luis. You came on an official visit to see the chairman and you slept off so freely as though you were in your water bed. Do you expect the chairman to wake you up? Is he your alarm clock, uh?”
“Keep shut if you don’t have anything to say!” Melissa snapped, “You have always been a nitwit. Don’t you know your job as a personal assistant? You are supposed to wake us up. We slept off because of the time frame. You don’t expect us to sit at a spot for five hours doing nothing!”
Fanny was massively infuriated as he couldn’t stop stroking his hair. At a time he squatted on the floor and later stood up with his crimson face.
“You don’t know how much this visit is to us. I don’t think you do because you are not in my shoes . The Fanny group has been short of production for months now. We need the capital. That is why we are here. Clenching on this contract will help us bounce back and continue doing business. You shouldn’t have woken us up to meet with the chairman!”
Is that supposed to be a favor or a duty. I am the personal assistant to the world richest man and I know my jurisdiction. Some day you are also going to tell me to wipe your ass whenever you come around. The last time I checked my duty here is not to wake a bunch of bankruptcy company owners from sleep…!”
“Melissa barked, “You must be stupid for saying that and who told you that a bankruptcy company cannot bounce back to greatness , uh?”
Fanny patted Melissa on the shoulders, “Chill out daughter. You just have to chill out. We must survive this storm.” He gazed upon Zion with his gaze dimmed, “So please tell me when our appointment with the chairman can be then?”
“Um…” he contemplated, “ Chairman Brian Patrick is a busy figure right now. As we speak he is on his way to Madrid. You and I know it is not easy to be the world richest man. We are going to put a call across as soon as he is available to handle bankruptcy issues…”
Melissa interjected at the tops of her voice, “He is not handling our bankruptcy issue. We are not here to beg him money. He retrieved a contract awarded to our grouped we want it back!”
Zion beamed, “And you think it is your right, uh? Chairman Brian Patrick or better put, Mike Don is a man that is conscious of attitude. You can’t get anything from him with this arrogance. Any ways like I said you will hear from us. Mind you we don’t do phone calls. We send email, just as you usually send your divorce paper via email, so always check email. Thank you very much, the Fanny Group, I got to go!” Zion walked out on them.
Fanny Luis breathed hard, and stared at Melissa who was staring out Zion until he disappeared out of sight.
When they got back to the villa, Lisa Bake was having handy a brown envelope which the dispatch rider just delivered it to me few minutes to your arrival,” she pointed at the brown envelope on the table.
Fanny dragged a furrowed brow while Melissa, narrowed her gaze, “Who must have sent it.” He drifted to it, picked it up and read, “Oh from the ministry of petroleum? What could be inside?”
“We are not expecting any memo from them.” Melissa contemplated and drifted to Fanny to have a look at its content.
Hastily but cautiously, Fanny tore the envelope and pulled out the memo with a bold inscription which got him wailing at the tops of his voice.
“What is it?” Lisa Bake yelled and trudged to join Melissa in reading the memo.
No, no! Not now! What did I do to deserve this?” he wailed.
