Chapter 41 Say Sorry To Addison
Addison was intentionally trying to provoke Isabel, hoping to make her angry so she could later report it to Mason. She knew how much Mason disliked Isabel, and she might find it entertaining to see her get scolded.
She could see that her actions were affecting Isabel, who was unable to even make eye contact and seemed scared. This only fueled Addison's ego, and she took the opportunity to humiliate Isabel further.
"What's wrong, Isabel? Cat got your tongue? Or are you just too lowly to speak in front of me?", she taunted, feeling proud of herself for being superior to Isabel in every way.
Isabel tried to resist the urge to respond but she couldn't hold back any longer. She realized that Addison was intentionally trying to provoke her, and she wasn't going to let her get away with it.
"Perhaps you consider me low, but I am not as low as you are. At least I'm not a second option or a replacement for anyone, like you are", Isabel replied, her voice filled with confidence. She was surprised at her own boldness, but she refused to let Addison's insults go unanswered.
Despite her initial reluctance to engage in this kind of argument, Isabel didn't feel guilty for standing up for herself. She wasn't going to be belittled by someone who was acting so arrogant and self-centered.
Addison was instantly offended by Isabel's words, and her face flushed with rage. She had never been spoken to so rudely before, and it left her speechless.
Isabel, on the other hand, remained calm and composed. "I'm sorry if you feel offended, but that's just the way it is," she said coolly, observing the sudden embarrassment in Addison's pretty face.
Addison's rage only grew as she watched Isabel take the opportunity to insult her, even though she was the one who had started the exchange. She approached Isabel, standing face-to-face with her, her eyes blazing with fury.
"You filthy btch. How dare you speak to me like that?" Addison roared, her expression so intense that it scared Isabel to her core. Despite her fear, Isabel refused to show any weakness, knowing that Addison would only use it as an opportunity to insult her even more.
"Don't raise your voice on me, Addison. You may be forgetting that I'm still Mason's wife and you're standing in my house. So, think before you speak otherwise I won't mind showing you your place", Isabel said in a calm yet cold tone, like it was a warning.
Isabel's words echoed in the silence, her voice cold and calculated as she reminded Addison of her place. For a moment, she felt a sense of pride in herself for standing up to the woman who was to become Mason's wife. Was it self-respect or love for Mason that gave her the courage to speak out? She couldn't quite tell. Perhaps it was the disappointment of seeing someone else take the life she had always dreamed of having.
Addison was taken aback by Isabel's sudden change in demeanor. She had always been told by Mason that Isabel was easy to deal with and hardly ever spoke up, but now she saw a side of her that was bold and unyielding.
In a desperate attempt to regain the upper hand, she tried to insult Isabel, using her insecurities as a weapon.
"Look at your disgusting self before you speak. You don't even deserve my energy to waste on you. You're such a sht creature, it's even more difficult to look at you with my beautiful eyes. Don't you think so?"
Isabel couldn't help but look at Addison's mesmerizing green eyes, which seemed to hold a depth that she had never seen before. As much as she didn't want to admit it, Isabel couldn't help but feel pathetic standing next to someone as effortlessly beautiful as Addison. She began to wonder if her husband, Mason, had ever looked at Addison the way he used to look at her.
Addison, noticing the shift in Isabel's expression as soon as she mentioned her flaws, felt a sense of satisfaction wash over her. "You think you can hurt me, Isabel. Let me tell you that you're sounding utterly jealous of me. You wish to have beauty like me, but you also know that you're absolute trash," she said, smiling triumphantly at Isabel.
Isabel, feeling hurt and helpless, turned her gaze downward. She knew that no matter how hard she tried to defend herself, Addison would relentlessly mention her flaws, using them to belittle and degrade her. It was as if Addison took pleasure in making her feel inferior.
"What about your family? Do they even teach you how to speak with people like us?" Addison taunted Isabel, knowing that she came from a poor family. She wanted to hurt Isabel deeply, and it was working. Isabel's eyes filled with tears as soon as Addison mentioned her family.
"Don't you dare bring my family into this. You don't know anything about me or my family", Isabel snapped back, all seriousness as she refused to let Addison insult her family.
Addison found it entertaining to watch Isabel become emotional and angry. She decided to go even further to hurt Isabel. "Jesus! It seems like your parents are also total wastes, just like you", Addison sneered sarcastically.
Isabel could not control herself any longer and raised her hand to slap Addison, but a strong hand stopped her. She looked to the side to see who had prevented her from striking. To her surprise, it was Mason, her husband.
Isabel's heart sank when she saw Mason. He was fuming with anger and his piercing gaze made her feel weak and vulnerable. She had been so lost in Addison's words that she hadn't noticed him approach. Now she was terrified, knowing she was in trouble.
She tried to free her hand from Mason's grip, but he only tightened his hold, causing her pain.
"You arrived just in time, babe. She was literally about to slap me. You have no idea how many nasty things she said to me," Addison said, feigning tears to rile up Mason even more.
Isabel felt humiliated as Mason twisted her hand painfully, but she couldn't say anything to defend herself against Addison's lies.
"You were speaking badly about her, weren't you?" Mason asked, his voice cold and angry.
Before Isabel could respond, Mason tightened his grip again, causing her to cry out in pain.
"You deserve that, sweetheart," Addison said with a smirk, taking pleasure in Isabel's suffering.
Mason's threat made Isabel tremble with fear. She knew she had to comply with his demand or face dire consequences.
"If I ever hear you speaking badly about Addison again, I will cut off your hand. Do you understand me?" he warned, his voice low and menacing.
Isabel nodded, feeling trapped and helpless in the face of her husband's anger. She could only hope that no one from her family would witness this humiliation.
"Now say sorry to Addison", Mason insisted, his voice cold and firm.
"What!", Isabel exclaimed in shock, feeling her heart drop to her stomach.
"I asked you to say sorry to Addison. Don't make me repeat", Mason spoke again in a threatening tone.
Isabel never thought that her husband would insult her so badly in front of a third person, especially when she had done nothing wrong. She tried to defend herself, "But I wasn't the-"
"This is the last time I'm saying it. Say sorry to Addison", Mason cut her off, sounding serious, and his words hung in the air like a threat.
Before Isabel could say anything, someone began knocking on the main entrance. Mason instantly let go of Isabel's hand and felt terrified, thinking that it was his dad.
Isabel took the opportunity to escape and ran towards the store room. She didn't even bother to open the door as she was feeling too vulnerable to appear in front of anyone.
Addison was frustrated, having missed out on the chance to receive Isabel's apology. She felt like Isabel's apology would have given her the satisfaction of having won the argument.
Meanwhile, Mason approached the entrance to open the door and asked curiously, "Who are you?", upon finding an unknown woman standing there.
