Chapter 25
A tingling sensation spread across my collarbone, making my breathing quicken involuntarily.
I tried my best to stay rational and gently pushed him away. "I should go back now."
Seeing this, I reached for the car door. If I kept staying with Michael, something was definitely going to happen.
After all, I could clearly see the restraint in Michael's eyes.
Seeing that I wanted to leave, Michael grabbed my wrist and spoke in a hoarse voice. "Nancy, we should start planning our wedding."
I could hear him holding back his desire, and I understood what he meant.
"Michael, I know. When we have time, let's have both families get together to discuss the engagement."
Seeing me agree, surprise flashed across Michael's face, and he confirmed with me in disbelief. "Nancy, you're willing to marry me soon?"
I nodded firmly again, giving him a definite answer.
Seeing my agreement, Michael finally let go of my hand and coaxed me gently. "Nancy, I won't make you wait long."
I didn't think much about the deeper meaning of his words.
Not until the next day did I understand what he meant.
In the morning, I was woken up by various voices talking.
Being woken up for no reason made me irritated. Thinking the servants at home were having an argument, I went straight downstairs without even washing up.
But when I saw a group of elders sitting in the living room, I froze in place.
I was wearing pajamas with messy hair.
After coming to my senses, I awkwardly greeted Michael's parents.
"Mr. Johnson, Mrs. Johnson, good morning." Then I fled in embarrassment. I couldn't believe such an awkward thing could happen to me. I just wanted to disappear right away.
Watching my awkward escape, Michael chuckled.
Hearing his laughter, my ears turned bright red.
Such a big thing as having guests at home, and not a single person came to tell me.
I hurriedly washed up before coming back downstairs.
Seeing me appear, my mom pulled me to sit next to Michael. "Nancy, perfect timing. I was just discussing the wedding with Michael's parents. About the wedding details, do you have anything you want to say?"
Hearing this, I finally understood that Michael's parents' sudden visit today was about our wedding.
I shook my head and said sensibly, "Mom, I'm fine with anything. You can decide."
I didn't have many requirements. My only requirement was to marry Michael.
Seeing my reaction, Amelia took my hand and patted the back of it, comforting me. "Nancy, don't worry. The Johnson family won't let you be wronged. You can ask for anything you want."
My mom also asked with concern, "Nancy, are you nervous?"
I still shook my head.
Not seeing any particular emotion on my face, my mom and Michael's parents finally felt relieved.
Michael and I sat there like two decorations, quietly listening to our families discuss the wedding.
Until they decided on the wedding date.
Amelia told my mom the date she had picked out in advance, asking for her opinion. "How about having the wedding two months from now? The 18th of that month is a lucky day, and it gives Nancy enough time to adjust."
After hearing her out, my mom asked me, "Nancy, what do you think?"
I instinctively looked at Michael, wanting to know what he thought.
Noticing my gaze, Michael suddenly spoke up against it. "Mom, that date is too late. Can we move it up earlier?"
Hearing Michael's words, Amelia immediately rolled her eyes at him, saying unhappily, "What do you know, you little brat? This is the good date I carefully selected."
David saw through Michael's intention right away and teased, "Let's go with Michael's idea. This boy obviously can't wait."
At these words, I felt a bit shy.
But Michael was completely calm, openly expressing his feelings to me in front of his parents. "Nancy is such a great girl, of course I want to marry her quickly, so no one else gets any ideas."
Seeing him so straightforward, I felt even more embarrassed and quietly nudged him with my elbow, signaling him to tone it down.
But my hint didn't work. Instead, it made Michael even bolder. "Mrs. Smith, can Nancy and my wedding be moved up?"
Seeing Michael's feelings for me, my mom gave in. "How about next month then? Since the two kids like each other, it's better to settle things early."
In the end, our two families set the wedding for next month, but the specific date hadn't been decided yet.
After discussing the wedding, Michael took the initiative, "Mrs. Smith, I'd like to take Nancy to see the wedding house."
Before I could agree, Michael took my hand and led me out of the house right in front of my mom.
It wasn't until we arrived at the wedding house Michael had prepared that I snapped out of it.
The wedding house was very close to the company, about a ten-minute walk.
Michael brought me inside, and only then did I see what it looked like.
Apart from the basic renovation, the wedding house had almost no furniture or decorations.
"Isn't it finished yet?" I asked curiously, walking around the house.
This would be Michael and my home from now on.
It all still felt a bit unreal to me.
I stopped in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, looking down at the view outside.
But Michael suddenly hugged me from behind, gently biting my lip, and asked in a low voice, "What style do you like? I'll have someone arrange it."
I put my hand on his and teased him on purpose. "You're acting like a husband who's afraid of his wife. People will laugh at you if word gets out."
Michael didn't care. He turned me around and pressed me against the window. "Being good to my own wife will only make others jealous."
As he spoke, Michael leaned down toward me, his breathing right by my ear.
His hot breath sprayed on my face, making my heart race uncontrollably.
I'd seen him up close plenty of times, but this was the first time with the light behind him.
Michael's eyelashes were thick and long, clearly defined. His brow bone was prominent, and those deep eyes looked at me so tenderly.
"Can I kiss you?" Michael cupped my face, his gaze gentle, his tone tentative.
My pupils dilated involuntarily, but before I could answer, he lowered his head and kissed me.
Our eyes locked, my breathing became rapid. I gently pushed him away and turned my face aside, saying softly, "Not here."
Although the wedding house was on a high floor, I still didn't want anyone to see.
Hearing my words, Michael picked me up and carried me toward the bedroom.
Thinking about what might happen next, I felt a bit nervous.
Michael gently laid me on the bed, his handsome face right in front of me.
His gaze was intense, staring at me as his Adam's apple moved.
Michael leaned down again. In the intimate atmosphere, he extended his tongue to touch mine, even mischievously sucking on my tongue.
His kiss felt like an electric current running through me.
My body stiffened as I felt something hard pressing against my lower abdomen.
