Chapter 16
Even though I was deliberately trying to provoke him, Ethan didn't take the bait. His eyes still showed nothing but contempt for me.
I realized that if I wanted to push him into competing with me, I needed to raise the stakes.
Without waiting for Ethan to respond, I smoothly upped the ante. "Mr. Martinez, if you can beat me today, I'll do whatever you want. How about that?"
Sure enough, as soon as Ethan heard me using myself as the bet, he immediately became interested.
If he could have his way with Michael's woman, that would be a way to humiliate Michael too.
Ethan's eyes lit up a bit as he confirmed with me. "Are you serious?"
Seeing him take the bait, I smiled and gave him a definite answer again. "Of course. Are you going to compete with me or not?"
"Sure, just wait to lose and become my woman." As he spoke, Ethan even gave Michael a provocative look.
Seeing me raise the stakes, Michael's brows furrowed involuntarily, and he tried to stop me in a serious tone. "I don't agree to this."
I knew what Michael was worried about, but I really couldn't stand Ethan's arrogant and cocky attitude.
Eric beside me also tried to persuade me, "Yeah, Nancy, you can't joke about stuff like this. There's no need for this bet, and we don't even care about winning or losing."
Watching the two of them take turns trying to talk me out of it, Ethan mocked from the side. "What's wrong, Michael? Don't tell me you've got less guts than a woman. This was your woman's idea in the first place."
From Ethan's attitude, he clearly thought victory was already in the bag.
Seeing this, I looked at Michael seriously and said confidently, "Michael, don't worry, I won't lose. Trust me, okay?"
Seeing me so confident, Michael was moved for a moment, but still insisted. "No, I absolutely won't let you use yourself as a bet. Even if there's a one percent chance you might lose, I don't agree."
"Trust me, I will definitely win. I won't leave you." I tried to calm Michael's emotions again, attempting to get him to give in.
But Ethan was getting impatient and couldn't help urging. "Are we doing this or not? What's with all the stalling? Michael, I didn't know you were such a coward."
Seeing Ethan being so arrogant, I took the opportunity to add, "Since this is a bet, it's no fun if I'm the only one putting up stakes. Do you dare to agree to my terms?"
Ethan clearly didn't take me seriously, his attitude still dismissive and cocky. "Go ahead, what do you want me to do?"
Hearing this, I didn't hesitate and stated my demand directly. "Mr. Martinez, if you lose, you have to kneel down and apologize in front of everyone, and admit that you're not as good as Michael. How about it? Do you dare to accept the consequences?"
Hearing my words, Michael looked at me with some surprise, clearly not expecting that I was doing all this to defend him.
Ethan obviously didn't take me seriously. Especially after hearing my demand, he laughed out loud and mocked while agreeing. "That's it? Fine, there's no way I'll lose. Just wait to be screwed by me. When you lose, you'd better keep me company properly. If you don't serve me well, don't think about running away."
His words weren't just insulting me; they were also provoking Michael.
And this tactic worked on Michael too. "Ethan, watch your mouth! I think you really have a death wish."
The coldness around Michael was uncontrollable, and when he spoke again, he was practically speaking through gritted teeth.
Noticing Michael's emotions, I grabbed his hand and planted a kiss on his cheek. "Michael, don't worry, I'll make him kneel before you."
With my reassurance, Michael's emotions stabilized a bit, but when he looked at Ethan, he still looked like he wanted to kill him.
I didn't mind Ethan talking big now. The more arrogant he was, the more humiliating it would be for him later.
After saying that, I turned my gaze to Ethan and said dismissively, "Mr. Martinez, I hope you can still be this cocky when you're kneeling and apologizing later. I'll definitely record a video of it."
My bet with Ethan attracted quite a few onlookers.
Various pessimistic voices came from all directions.
"This woman is a bit too arrogant, isn't she? Mr. Martinez's shooting skills are top-notch."
"A woman thinking she can beat Mr. Martinez is just wishful thinking."
The voices around me didn't affect me. I casually played with the gun, waiting for Ethan to get ready.
Just before starting, Ethan took advantage of adjusting his equipment to deliberately harass me. "Nancy, I heard you used to run around with John all the time. I bet he's slept with you countless times, right? How about this - let me sleep with you once, and today I'll go easy on you so you won't lose too badly."
Hearing his words, I looked coldly at his crotch with disdain and mocked, "Mr. Martinez, sometimes you should keep your cock under control, so you don't catch some disease."
Seeing me not playing along, Ethan got angry. "Nancy, don't be so ungrateful. If you fall into my hands, I won't be gentle with you."
I was even more indifferent, taking the adjusted gun and standing in front of the target. "Mr. Martinez, five shots each, taking turns. Whoever scores higher wins. Sound good?"
Ethan shrugged and raised an eyebrow. "Whatever you decide, you're going to lose anyway."
After confirming the rules with Ethan, our competition officially began.
Ethan and I flipped a coin to decide who would shoot first. He went first.
Ethan's first shot scored nine points - a high score.
Seeing his score, Ethan's face showed complete confidence.
I wasn't panicked at all. I held my breath and carefully aimed at the bullseye.
With a gunshot, my bullet fired.
After the scoreboard flickered a few times, it also showed nine points.
The first shot was a tie between Ethan and me.
But I wasn't satisfied with this shot, as it didn't show my true skill level.
Ethan, however, thought I was just lucky and still didn't take me seriously.
The second shot, Ethan scored nine points again.
When I shot again, I hit the bullseye dead center.
After the ten points displayed on the screen, Eric spoke first, openly praising me. "Nancy, amazing! You've got skills!"
Ethan also realized I wasn't simple and felt some sense of crisis, but he still talked tough. "Just luck, nothing special."
For the next three shots, Ethan's total was only twenty-eight points.
But I won the competition with two more perfect scores in my last two shots.
When he saw the total score, Ethan looked completely incredulous, clearly never imagining that a nearly perfect score would come from me.
"Nancy."
After the competition ended, Michael immediately ran over and pulled me into his arms.
His face showed some lingering fear, but also some pride. "I had no idea you could shoot, and shoot this well."
I raised my head proudly and asked him, "How about that, Michael? I told you I'd make you win. Do you believe me now?"
At this moment, Ethan's expression looked worse than if he'd swallowed a fly. "Impossible, there's no way you could shoot this well. The scoring system must be broken."
Knowing he didn't want to pay up, I deliberately said, "Mr. Martinez, I won. You can kneel and apologize now."
