Chapter 45 - The Tycoon Alpha's Temptation
ROSE’S POV
Ever since I learned that there might be another woman in Alpha King Josh’s life, I have become an inspector and most importantly, a stalker.
After breakfast yesterday, Alpha King Josh and Beta Adam vanished into his home office- a place where Alpha King Josh had almost banged me for the third time. And like a hawk, I watched them closely.
It was a shame that I didn't get to hear them.
Eventually, Adam left Alpha King Josh’s office and didn't return home until midnight. Alpha King Josh on the other hand remained in his library or office. At some point, I thought he was dead but my assumptions were corrected when I began to perceive cigarettes from his office.
That has been the story of my life for hours and even now, after a sleepless night, I was on the training field with the warriors to train as usual, and my eyes were still glued to Alpha King Josh.
“I can’t believe we are watching him like that after avoiding him for a week straight.” Cali expressed.
I hissed, “He gets under my skin when he does something and he still manages to irk me even when he simply stands there and does nothing but sweat.”
The thought of another woman with him was driving me insane… I hated to admit that but it was the truth.
Moreover, Eric has been keeping his distance from me ever since the unfortunate situation that occurred before breakfast yesterday morning. I would have read more meaning into this if I wasn't completely immersed in following Alpha King Josh around.
“Are you planning to join us or will you stand there like you didn't create a scene to join us yesterday?”
An annoying yet timid voice resonated, causing me to take my eyes off Alpha King Josh who seemed to be rounding up the morning training session with some set of warriors.
Despite being aware that her statement was referred to me, I sighed, folded my arms, and turned toward the rough looking brunette. I asked uninterestedly, “Are you talking to me?”
“You are the only member here that hasn't contributed a thing to our plans to win the competition, newbie. So yes. She was referring to you.”
Another one of the warriors voiced. They were all members of the so-called aspiring warriors yet they were trying to intimidate me. I wasn't looking down on them but– maybe I was looking down on them. Especially the mean ones.
“Forgive me, oldies. I was thinking the competition is about us winning individually. If you have time to pick on me, then I believe you have enough time to plan your win.”
I retorted meanly. Ouch! That was harsh but I wasn't in a friendly mood right now. The man that deflowered me has another woman in his life and she was called his favorite woman– how was I supposed to keep my feminine bitchy side in check after learning that?
“Are you crazy?”
The rugged brunette hissed.
I rolled my eyes, “I am not crazy, girl. I just don't understand why you are acting up when you all obviously rejected me yesterday. I don’t know why I am still standing here with a group of people that don't want me anyways.”
I voiced my feelings and watch them all detach their glares from me. Why would they hate me just as much as Nora’s group? Were they insane?
With determination, I uttered, “I will get out of your way soon. Tolerate me for a minute more–”
“Can we all be calm?” A raven-haired slender female raised her voice from the back and she slowly made her way forward. “We all need to take a chill pill.”
To be honest, she was the only female in the group that hasn't cussed at me since I chose to join them yesterday. In fact, none of the guys in the aspiring rank stared at me twice. I believed they were more worried about proving their manhood and becoming useful to the pack than picking on a random female like me.
The raven-haired female strolled towards me, stretched her hand, and said, “Hello, Rose. I am Fiona. An aspiring Warrior that really wants to prove herself during the upcoming Competition.”
I eyed her hand suspiciously before taking it in mine cautiously. I couldn't be too careful with these people. However, I still responded with, “Nice to meet you, Fiona. I wish you all the best as you fight to win.”
Fiona smiled at me before facing the rest of the members. She said to them, “You see, guys? She spoke nicely to me when I addressed her nicely. We can’t keep being hostile because we are scared she is using us. Even if she is using us, shouldn't we use her right back and match her energy to become one of the best?”
“I am not using anyone. Why will I do that?” I chimed immediately Fiona finished speaking.
The rugged brunette answered, “Because you have become Nora’s rival in all ramifications, Rose. Can’t you see what’s happening here? Those monsters will come for us harder than ever just because you chose to join us and we will lose our chance of making the rank.”
I finally understood why they all stood against me joining their group yesterday. They all saw me as a wall- a wall that was stopping them from moving forward.
“I think that should be enough reason for us to take her in and use her to our advantage, guys.”
Fiona countered and one of the males finally joined the conversation, “She is good. She can help us get better since none of the other warriors from the other ranks would train us. I am tired of being a laughing stock in the pack.”
“I agree with, Jared. Those warriors have been mean to us. They won't help us get better and would occasionally pick on us. We should step up.”
Fiona addressed the others. I discovered that the trainers that had been assigned to the third rank hadn't been performing their duties to the group. No one has been kind enough to properly train them and many of them have been in the third rank for years.
That didn't look good for either of them and I pitied them even though they weren't exactly welcoming.
“Although I wasn't planning to use anyone or get used, I will let you guys use me and also help me get better, Guys.”
I announced and they all shifted their attention to me.
“Henceforth, I am officially Warrior Rose to you all. I am not the leader of this group but I will help everyone with their training s which we can fix–”
Fiona cut in, “Jared is the leader, Warrior Rose.”
“That’s a huge lie, Fiona. You know that if anyone should be the leader, it will be you, not me.”
Jared argued and others began to murmur.
Cali chipped into my mind, “If they can’t even agree on a leader, I see why they haven't been able to improve after years of being stagnant.”
Brutal but that was the truth.
“Fiona and Jared, you both can be the leaders. Please tell me, how many members do we have in the rank?”
I announced and also queried. For the first time since yesterday, I was finally fitting in among this group of warriors.
Jared answered, “We have six males and fourteen females.”
“In total, we have thirty warriors in the third rank.” Fiona added.
I smiled, seeing that the two newly installed leaders worked well together.
“Okay, this is what we will do—”
I began, creating more connections in a pack where I do not belong originally. This made me wonder if my days in the pack are numbered. After all, Alpha King Josh has gotten himself a new woman…
H*ck!
