Chapter 110 - Violet

The shadow in front of me jumped behind Jared and peeked over his shoulder, looking at Greta. “To bring thisss one back?”

“Yes.”

“Thisss one isss dead.” the front shadow said.

“The lassst one wasss ssstill alive.” the shadow to my right hissed.

“It will cossst you.” the shadow to my left answered.

“What do you want?” I asked, trying not to sound too eager. I knew what I wouldn’t give up.

“Hmmm.” the front one said, thinking over the options. “How about the life that livesss inssside you?”

My face dropped. “What?”

“Your unborn babe.” The shadow behind me held onto my shoulders. I could feel its icy fingers gripping me, the cold inching its way over my skin. The front shadow pointed to my stomach.

I looked down. It all made sense, me being sick and overly tired. My hand unintentionally went to my flat stomach. “No.” I shook my head. “Anything else.” Tears made their way down my cheek.

“We would alwaysss take the Alpha.” the front shadow said, pointing to Simon.

“He would be a fun toy.” the left shadow said.

“No.” I answered cutting through their comments.

“You’re running out of sssacrificesss girl. And our patience.” the shadow to my right said.

Rage started to bubble up inside me again. I had more to live for now. I couldn’t sacrifice myself. I looked around me. I spotted Eli staring at the shadows, eyes shifting from one to the other. He was the only one in the group of people that could see them.

An evil smile spread across my face. “I have the perfect sacrifice for you.” I flicked my wrist and Eli floated into a standing position. I stood in front of him and stared into his eyes. “Burn in hell, asshole.” I used my magic to form a claw on my right hand. I dug it into his chest. His eyes widened in pain, he tried to yell out, but my magic held him tight. I dug in his chest and found my beating target. I pulled. Blood spilled everywhere. People in the crowd screamed. Eli slumped against my magic.

The black heart continued to beat in my hand for about four beats before it started to slow down. I went back to the shadows and held up Eli’s heart. “This is what I have to sacrifice. The heart of pure evil.” I dropped it in the grass in front of me.

All four shadows gasped as they stared at the heart. “Consssider your debt paid.” The shadow in the front said before hovering over the heart, grabbing it, and vanishing.

The world around me returned to its normal color. Greta breathed in a loud gasp of air, she looked around, trying to figure out what happened.

“Baby.” Jared cradled Greta in his arms, happy tears flowed from his eyes.

“Babe, you’re going to kill me. Loosen the grip.” Greta’s words were muffled.

I stood there in shock.

“Violet. What’s wrong?” Simon came up to me, holding my shoulders, and staring into my eyes.

I shake my head trying to clear it. “Nothing is wrong.” I let out a small laugh. “I’m just pregnant.”

Simon stared at me in disbelief. “What?”

Goosebumps covered my skin. I didn’t know if he was going to be happy or upset. “When the shadows asked for a sacrifice, they asked me if I wanted to offer up my unborn babe.” My hand drifted toward my stomach again. “That explains the throwing up and being so tired all of the time. And I thought it was just stress.” I let out another small laugh.

Simon’s eyes started to well up. “Really? You’re pregnant?”

“Yeah.” I smiled at him. Still unsure of how he was feeling.

“Yes!” He screamed. He bent down and kissed me. He picked me up and swung me around. “I can’t believe it.”

“Si, maybe it’s not a good idea to swing around a pregnant lady.” Greta yelled from behind him.

“Oh right. Right.” He was fidgeting. “We have to get so much. We need a crib, bottles, and…”

“Hey.” I said, touching his arm. Trying to calm him down. “We have time. We can plan this out, right.”

“You’re right, Violet. I just can’t believe it. We’re going to start a family.” He brushed a tear away.

“And we have the rest of our lives together.” I smiled at him, and he pulled me in for a kiss. The wolves that were close by started to clap.

“What are we waiting for?” Simon yelled. “Let’s celebrate.”

The crowd cheered.

The rest of the night was drowning in people eating, drinking, and dancing. Those that needed medical attention received it. I had a smile plastered on my face the rest of the night. I was over the moon that I was pregnant with Simon’s baby. He made a point of telling each and every guest he was going to be a dad. I didn’t want to bring it up right now, but if the crystal ball was right, I was pregnant with twins. Simon was going to be a dad twice over.

I sat down and watched the people smiling and having a good time. I was officially part of the Dark Forest Falls Pack, and my coven was free. I already knew that Simon would be more than happy to welcome my coven to our pack grounds and have them join. They were a part of me as much as this pack was. There was a long road ahead to recover from what Eli did, but we were going to get there. We were free.

The End.
