Could we talk please? I'd really love to see you.
~Daisy~
"Welcome, home!"
Daisy jolts, nearly dropping her purse and travelling bag until she sights Lisa by her home theatre. The girl is holding her remote, arms stretched wide with a huge smile on her face.
Daisy eyes the plethora of juice boxes set on the centre table and the snacks arranged on the side stools by the couch and armchairs. She doesn't miss the five cocktail glasses on her kitchen counter and four different fruit alcohol bottles and empty juice boxes scattered there. Shutting her door with a sigh, she adjusts her phone that nearly fell out of her purse earlier. "Lisa, I gave you my spare key card to make sure the one plant I have doesn't die in case I do and you break in to turn my house into a juice bar?"
"Well-"
"She doesn't have a smaller sized shirt so I-" a familiar omega pauses at the door to Daisy's bedroom. "Oh hiya, Daisy."
"Abbie. Hey," Daisy waves at the girl, feigning a smile she hopes looks genuine. Dropping her purse and travelling bag on her couch, she grabs Lisa by her arm. Taking the remote from her friend, she increases the volume of the low dull music as she drags Lisa out to the balcony. Closing the glass door, she swirls around to face the girl. "Why is she here?"
"That project is in two weeks. You really need to tell her she's not going to be the manager," Lisa says, giving her that 'you know I'm right' look.
Not having the strength to argue, Daisy sighs. First she had to deal with Alexander's family all through yesterday, now she has to deal with the mess Gabriel created. Sure the family dinner, which was really a get together of insane people, was really fun. Hell, she even got Alexander's mother to like her as well as his other crazy aunts but it was draining being around such energetic females.
After Alexander dropped her off at her apartment building today, she had thought she would take the day off to relax with some of her favourite cartoons. She had even forgotten she made plans with Lisa for movie night today.
Honestly, she should have told Abbie the very day Gabriel forced the project into her hands but she didn't. It's just been a series of procrastination and new things coming up to take her attention. She should have known Lisa would take the liberty to do something like this. The girl always stepped in whenever she was putting off something important that would potentially put her in trouble. That attitude is what made Daisy love the girl and also hate her at the same time, especially because of things like this.
"Daisy," Lisa calls in a reprimanding tone.
The blonde groans. "I know, but inviting her to my apartment when I'm practically stealing her job? Isn't that too much?"
"Okay, first off," Lisa starts, uncrossing her arms to rest her hand on Daisy's shoulders, "you did not steal her job. Your mate forced it on you." She pauses, a light giggle escaping her lips. "You don't know how awesome it feels to call him your mate."
Daisy just stares, exasperated at her excitement. "Lisa."
"Just hang, butter her up and then rip open the band aid. Trust me," the girl wraps an arm around the blonde's shoulder, turning them to face the glass door where they could see Abbie approaching. "The longer you wait, the more difficult it'll be for you to tell her."
Abbie pushes open the glass door. She sticks her head out even though she could just walk properly into the balcony and stand up straight like a normal human being. "Hey, guys, do we start with To All The Boys I've Loved Before, Fifty Shades Of Grey or Midnight Sun?"
Daisy makes a face. "Do I really have to pick?"
"We're not watching cartoons again for movie night," Abbie deadpans.
"I'm not a movie person," the blonde says, glancing down at the shirt the omega is wearing. Oh, that's a cute baby blue. She has one just like it.
Lisa tightens her grip on Daisy's shoulder. "We're not cartoon persons and we're two. Majority wins the vote, baby."
Daisy groans as her best friend grins in triumph, pushing her forward. This is going to be a very long day.
Abbie vacates the doorway to allow them pass through. "Oh, I hope you don't mind, I spilled juice on my shirt so I had to borrow yours."
'I have one just like that' my ass! It was hers all along! "No, it's okay," she smiles, already feeling like slapping Lisa who is snickering behind her. Daisy doesn't exactly like sharing clothes with people but a few years with Lisa has made her slightly tolerant. Still, the baby blue extra comfy baggy shirt?! Out of all things, did she really have to choose that?
Plopping down into an armchair with a pout, she snatches a pack of beef jerky from the centre table.
"Here," Lisa says, holding out a blue cocktail.
Taking the drink, Daisy pulls out her phone when it vibrates in her pants' pocket. Checking her messages, she realises she has two messages from Gabriel from yesterday afternoon.
'We need to talk.'
'It's urgent.'
Daisy frowns. What could possibly be so urgent? And if it was truly such a pressing matter, then why didn't he call? Actually it's a good thing he didn't call while she was in Alexander's family house. That would have been a disaster.
"What about My Fault?" Abbie asks as Lisa pushes Daisy's purse and travelling bag to the side to sit beside the omega on the couch.
"Oh yass!" Lisa squeals, getting comfortable with a bag of flaming hot Cheetos. "I want to rewatch that."
Daisy shakes her head at Gabriel's chat. Whatever it is, it can wait till tomorrow. Checking the most recent message from Micheal, she blinks in surprise at the text.
'Could we talk please? I'd really love to see you.'
Sitting up in her chair, she takes her phone screen closer to her face to make sure she isn't misreading the text. Their chats have always been playful and friendly. The serious tone this text carries shows a stark difference in his intentions. Her mind goes back to their last physical meeting. She had brushed it off then when he said he wanted to be the fourth man in her life because she thought he wasn't being serious.
Staring at her phone, her jaw drops. Dear God. Does he actually like her?
"Daisy-" Lisa pauses halfway.
Daisy doesn't hear anything other than shuffling. Less than a second later, a throw pillow hits her in the face. Her phone slips from her hand and her drink nearly spills on the chair. "Hey!" She huffs, looking up at her friend.
"Get off your phone," Abbie laughs but Daisy knows it's Lisa who threw that pillow.
"No distractions today," the culprit huffs. "You're the one who said you wanted to do this indoors this time."
"I know but-"
"But nothing. Focus." Lisa turns back to the television, searching Netflix for the movie they're supposed to watch.
Sipping at the drink with a disgruntled frown on her face, Daisy spits it back into the glass. Not missing the subtle smirk on her friend's face, she gives the girl an unimpressed look. "You mixed this, didn't you?"
"I don't get why you don't like grapefruit juice!"
"Oh my God," Daisy groans, standing up from her chair and moving to the kitchen counter. Dropping the blue cocktail. She takes a wine coloured one and takes a hesitant sip out of it. Not detecting any hint of grapefruit, she drinks a little more to wash the taste of the last one off her tongue. Upon getting back to her seat, she picks up her phone with a confused frown when her phone vibrates with a new message.
Daisy's eyes widen when she sees that she replied Micheal with a blushing emoji. At first she thinks that it must have happened when her phone slipped from her hand but when she sees a typed message saying 'sure' there, she knows who did it.
Slowly rotating her head to glare at both Lisa and Abbie, she finds only Abbie paying rapt attention to the movie. The suspect of the hour is nowhere to be found.
"Oh my God, I love this part. Like bro!" Abbie shouts, pointing at the television.
Daisy glances at the screen to find some guy she guesses is the male lead leaving the female lead stranded in the middle of the road. Not understanding why the girl would like something like that, she shakes her head. "Where's Lisa?"
"Your room," Abbie says, unbothered.
"What?" What is she doing there? Daisy doesn't have to wonder for too long because not even a second later, the girl walks out of her bedroom with a red spaghetti gown and a black mini leather jacket. "Please don't tell me you want to borrow that."
"No, you're wearing it."
"Sorry?" She's doing what now?
"That guy must have replied with a location by now. You'll go and see what he wants to talk about," Lisa says eagerly with a smile like she didn't just invade her privacy without her consent.
Checking her phone, Daisy reads the text Micheal sent.
'’Same café?'
'I'll order chamomile tea this time. Let's see if all the hype is really worth it.'
An unintentional smile breaks out when she sees that and Lisa clears her throat.
"I'm guessing we'll reschedule this movie night?"
