Chapter 114 Meeting Rowan

Chapter 114 Meeting Rowan
River
The air is thick with anticipation, a charged energy that seems to pulse around the room, mirroring the rapid thudding of my heart. I pace back and forth, my hands clammy and my mind racing with a mix of excitement and anxiety. Today is the day, and I can’t shake the feeling that the universe is holding its breath along with me.

Aloria is in our bedroom, surrounded by the warmth and love we’ve cultivated together. I can hear her soft gasps, the sounds of her labor echoing in the air, mingling with the sweet scent of lavender that Daphne had insisted would help ease the pain. The walls of our home, usually filled with laughter and joy, now resonate with a different kind of energy… one of creation and new beginnings.

Kellan leans against the doorframe, his expression a mix of concern and encouragement. “You okay, man?” he asks, his voice low and steady.

I nod, though I can feel the tension coiling tighter in my chest. “I just… I can’t believe it’s actually happening. I’m going to be a father.” The weight of those words sends a rush of warmth through me, but the nerves are still there, swirling around like a tempest.

Daphne comes closer, her presence calming and assured. “River, she’s doing great. Just breathe. I need you to be strong for her right now.” She glances back toward Aloria, her expression a mixture of focus and warmth. “You’re doing wonderfully, Aloria. Just a little longer, and you’ll be holding your baby.”

I step closer to the bed, my heart racing as I catch sight of Aloria. She’s beautiful, even in the throes of labor, her hair damp and wild, her brow furrowed in concentration. I wish I could take the pain away, but I also know that this is a part of the journey, a testament to the strength that makes her who she is.

With every contraction, I can see the determination etched across her face. “You can do this, love!” I call out, stepping into the room, needing to be closer to her. “I’m right here. You’re the strongest person I know.”

Aloria looks up at me, her eyes fierce yet filled with tenderness. “I can’t do this alone, River. I need you,” she breathes, her voice laced with both pain and love.

I rush to her side, taking her hand in mine, feeling the warmth of her skin against my clammy palm. “You’ll never be alone. I’m right here, always.” I lean closer, brushing a strand of hair away from her face. “Just keep focusing on me, on our baby.”

Daphne moves around the room, her hands deftly preparing everything for the moment that’s about to change our lives forever. “Aloria, I need you to push when I say so. You can do this,” she encourages, her voice steady and soothing.

The next contraction hits Aloria, and I watch as she grips my hand tightly, her knuckles turning white. “River!” she cries, and I feel my heart clench at the sound of her voice, filled with both pain and the fierce desire to bring our child into the world.

“I’m here, love! Just breathe!” I say, squeezing her hand back, feeling the strength in her grip even as she fights through the pain. “You’re incredible. Just a little more, and we’ll meet our little one.”

Daphne’s voice cuts through the tension. “Okay, Aloria, it’s time. On the next contraction, I want you to push as hard as you can.”

I lean in closer, my forehead nearly touching hers. “You got this. We’re in this together,” I whisper, my voice low and filled with conviction.

Aloria nods, determination shining in her eyes. As the contraction hits, I watch her face transform, her muscles tensing, and I can’t help but be in awe of her. She is a force of nature, and I am so grateful to be by her side.

“Push!” Daphne instructs, and I feel Aloria’s grip tighten around my hand. The sound she makes is primal, filled with both strength and desperation, and I can’t help but marvel at the woman beside me.

“Come on, Aloria! You’re almost there!” I urge, my heart racing in tandem with her efforts. I can feel the energy in the room shift, a palpable tension that seems to crescendo as we approach the moment of transformation.

With one final push, Aloria lets out a cry that echoes through the room, a sound that resonates with the very essence of life itself. And then… silence… but only shortly, then a wail breaks the silence.

Daphne’s voice, filled with emotion, breaks through the stillness. “He is here! You did it, Aloria!”

I lean back, my heart pounding as I watch Daphne gently lift our baby from Aloria’s body. A wave of disbelief washes over me as I take in the sight of our child, a tiny being wrapped in soft blankets, letting out a wail that fills the room with pure, unfiltered joy.

“Look, River!” Aloria gasps, tears streaming down her cheeks as she looks at our baby. “We did it! We created life!”

I feel a lump form in my throat, overwhelming emotion flooding through me as I take in the sight of my partner, my mate, and the new addition to our family. “We did,” I reply, my voice cracking with emotion.

Daphne carefully hands our son to Aloria, and I watch as she cradles our child against her chest, a radiant smile illuminating her face. “It’s so beautiful!” she breathes, her eyes sparkling with love.

I step closer, my heart bursting with pride and joy. “What should we name him?” I ask, still in awe of the little miracle before us.

Aloria looks up at me, her eyes glistening with tears of happiness. “How about Rowan? It’s strong, just like our little one.”

“Rowan it is,” I reply, feeling the weight of the name settle in my heart, a perfect reflection of the strength and beauty that now fills our lives.

As I look down at Aloria, cradling our newborn, I can’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude. The journey has been filled with challenges, but every moment has led us here, to this beautiful family we are creating together.

The future stretches out before us, a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and adventure. I pull Aloria close, my heart full to bursting, knowing that this is just the beginning of our incredible journey as parents. Together, we will face whatever comes our way, united by the love we share and the family we have built.

The world outside may be uncertain, but in this moment, surrounded by the warmth of our home and the love of our pack, I know that we are exactly where we are meant to be.
