Chapter 29: The Talk

Aurora's POV

Mom and Dad called for me so I went downstairs and head towards their room.

I entered and I saw Mom sitting on the bed while Dad is just standing there beside her.

"Aurora, let's talk." Mom said as I walk over to them. She motioned me to sit down next to her and so I did.

"What's this about?" I asked.

"It's about time to have this talk." Dad said and I furrowed my eyebrows.

"It's about Steven." He said and I clenched my hands into fists.

"What about Steven?" I asked and Mom put a hand on my shoulder.

"Aurora, we really need to talk about this." Mom said. "Go on, just tell us."

My fists are shaking and I can feel something heavy on my chest but I try to keep it in. I bite my lip until I couldn't keep it in anymore before letting out a shaky sigh.

"W-Well, while you guys were away... Steven treated me like a rag doll and he would slap or punish me if I won't do what he told me to do." I spoke and I can feel a lump in my throat. " And you've seen how he treated me back then."

"Aurora, you should have told us sooner. From now on, he should face the consequences and I'll make sure that he learns his lesson." Dad said with a hint of anger in his tone.

"No, no, no! What if he'll do something?! Or what if he'll hurt you and say that it's my fault?!" I said.

"Sweetie, don't worry. We're only doing this cause it is for the best." Mom said as she gently grab both of my hands.

"Just trust us, Aurora. We'll handle this." Dad said.

I look at them with a worried face and I hope nothing will happen to them once they talk to Steven.

__

A few hours have passed and it's already dark out. We were just eating dinner in silence... until Dad cleared his throat and open his mouth.

"Steven. We need to have a talk about something. " He spoke and from the corner of my eye, Steven puts a grown on his face.

"Elizabeth, I think it's time for Toby's bedtime." He said to my Mom and she just pick up Toby from the seat and head upstairs.

Until the sound of her footsteps faded, Dad open his mouth again.

"Aurora, can you sit here?" asked Dad, lightly tapping the chair, across from Steven. I nodded and transfer there. I fidget with my fingers and I can feel my breathing going a bit faster.

"Alright, Steven... I've been thinking about your behavior for quite some time and your behavior is absolutely not healthy in this family."

"What are you saying... Dad?" Steven asked, as his expression gets darker as he plays with his food.

"I don't like how you treated Aurora and it's effecting her badly. I'm afraid I have to send you somewhere else. Somewhere... you will stay until you learn the consequences of your actions." Dad said.

Steven dropped his fork. "Where? Prison? An Asylum? Come on Dad, I'm not some crazy kid or someone who has something wrong in their head."

"I'm serious, Steven. Grounding you is not enough. And where you're gonna stay in the meantime will be as far from Aurora or anyone else in this family, including her friends, as possible. It's final." Dad finished.

Steven's expression became an angry one and he smashed his fist on the table.

'BANG!'

"You can't do that, Dad!" He shouted.

"Yes, I can. I just want what's best for everyone in this family, even if it means I have to go... way beyond. Next week, they'll fetch you and take you there. It's for the best, Steven. And I do not tolerate such behavior!"

I just stay silent and look at Steven.

"If you want it that way... then so be it. But you're gonna wish that you shouldn't have done any of this in the first place." He said in a somewhat calm yet angry tone.

He turned his head to me and I quickly look down. He then starts walking away and head out and close the door with a loud bang.

'BANG!'

Dad let out a sigh and massage his temples.

"Um... Dad, are you sure about this?" I asked.

"Aurora, it's for the best." He said. "Forget about him. Go upstairs and get ready for bed."

"Okay. Good night." I said before heading upstairs to my room.

I enter my room and made sure to lock my door and the windows before drawing the curtains closed.

I quickly change into my pajamas and wash my face. After that, I just lay down and look up at the ceiling.

My eyes didn't open for so long and they got heavier and heavier until all I can see is... darkness.

__

"Mom? Dad? Toby?"I called out as it echoes in a dark empty room.

Suddenly the room brightens up and I found myself in a room filled with blood. I look around and I could never been shocked in my life.

I found Mom in a pool of her own blood coming from her mouth, Dad's dead body hanging from the ceiling and Toby pinned to the wall, blood coming out from his body.

Then I spotted Eddie with his throat slitted open and Heather with her organs taken out. Then I spotted three decapitated cat heads and Miss Victoria's dead body laying on the ground with a pair of scissors on her chest.

Including the dead bodies of Tamara and Lucas at the other side of the room.

I try not to vomit and tears begin to come out of my eyes.

All of the sudden, I heard a baby crying. I slowly turn around and I saw a crib.

I touched my stomach and I felt something on my stomach. It's flat and when I lift the shirt up, I found a big scar.

Suddenly, two hands grab my shoulders and pull me towards... Steven himself and he's covered in blood.

"You're going to regret this!" He shouted and I let out a scream.

"AHHH!"

__

I let out a gasp and jerk out of my bed. Beads of sweat came down from my forehead and wipe it off.

Because of that nightmare, I didn't dare to go back to sleep cause I don't know what's going to happen next yet I knew something is wrong.
