Jess’s POV
Everyone went their separate ways after dinner. I was just about to go for a run when Christina came over to me.
“Hey, Jess, can I please come for a run with you? I know that I will slow you down, but you will push me to go faster and further”
“Of course you can. Your right I will push you. First, I need you to stretch. Then we will start at a slow jog to warm up your mussels and then we will see how far I can push you”
“I would say that sounds like fun, but you should not lie to your best friend”
“No, you won’t enjoy it as first but once you’re in prime shape you will love it”
“I Hope you don’t mind Romeo coming he needs his evening run”
“Not at all”
“Good now follow me and start stretching”
Christina followed me as I preformed some basic leg stretches
“Good now we are going to start at a light run” I did not wait for her reply I just set of at a steady run. Romeo stuck right at my side. I looked over my shoulder and saw Christina lagging behind “If you want to pass the course and train with you man, I would pick up your game. Come on this is just the warmup. Push yourself”
“I am pushing myself” Christina gasped “Not all of us are all fit and could run for hours a day without even breaking into a sweat”
“My god you can be a drama queen” I slowed down until she was level with me and took her hand in mine. Then I started to speed up pulling her along with me”
“You bitch” She stammered “Are you trying to kill me?”
“You asked for my help, so I am giving it to you. With me holding on to you, you have no choice but to keep up with me. I told you that I would help you pass the course. This is my way of helping. If I am nice and go easy on you then it will take you twice as long to pass the course. Do things my way and it will take 3 days tops, and you will be training with you man”
“Fine” Christina managed to croak out
By the time we had finished the run I was dragging Christina, and her feet were barley leaving the ground.
“Ok we are done. Now I need you to stretch so that you are able to move and try the course again in the morning”
“You mean we have finished?”
“Yes, now follow me and stretch or you will be too sore to move in the morning”
“Yes boss” Christina followed my every move as soon as we had done, she flopped down on her back
“Come on you cannot stay there. We need to get back to the barrack”
“Argh I know but I am so tired. Can I just have a little nap?”
“Then how about I carry you, my lady?”
“Nick baby” Christina nuzzled into Nicks neck, and he picked her up and started to carry her back to the barrack. I smiled to myself as I walked behind them. I was glad that Christina had met such a nice guy. Back at the barrack everyone was sat in a circle talking. Kieran moved over and make room for the three of us. As soon as I sat down, he put his arm around me and pulled me on to his lap.
“I missed you” He whispered into my ear
“I missed you too. Christina did really well tonight. I don’t think that she realises quite how far I made her run”
“How far did you make the poor girl run?”
“Only 30 kilometres”
“That’s a long way for someone to run”
“I know but she wants to train with Nick and the only way that is going to happen is if I really push her”
“I know and if anyone can make that happen it’s you”
“What are you two whispering about? I am sure that my ears are burning”
“I was just telling Kieran how well you did on our run”
“Yeah, I think that I did well. I admit that Jess had to hold on to me to make sure that I kept up, but I still think that I did really well”
“Yes, you did Jess was just telling me how far you ran”
“Really Kieran how far did I run?”
“How far do you think that you ran?”
“Well, I am not very fit, so I was thinking maybe 5 kilometres?”
“You cannot really think that’s all you did?” I did not realise that I had raised my voice until I looked around the circle and everyone was staring at me.
“Am sorry Jess why how far did I run?”
“You ran 30”
“30 what?”
“Don’t act dumb Christina. You ran 30 kilometres”
“You have got to be kidding me”
“Na she is telling you the truth babe. I was watching the whole thing. You really did do well. See what you can do when you put your heart into it”
“Wow I cannot believe it. Thank you for pushing me Jess”
“You’re welcome. We should all head to bed now though as we all have a tough day ahead tomorrow both mentally and physically” There was a lot of mumbling and complaining but everyone took my advice and climbed into bed. I went and filled up Romeo’s water bowl and then I climbed in to bed beside Kieran and fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow.
I stood in front of the new recruits and ran my hands through my hair. I had told them to be here at 0600 on the dot. It was not 0615 and I was still waiting for 5 of the teams to arrive.
“I am not happy that only one team was on time. Especially since that team was the one that I am a member off. Kieran, I want you to go and wake up the other teams. I want them to then do 100 push ups followed by 100 sit-ups before you take them on their run”
“Yes Boss” Kieran was laughing as he ran off to wake them all up. He liked punishing people. He was good at it too so I had full confidence that they would not be late again.
