Chapter 307

Chapter 307

Lisbeth rubbed her forehead and walked over to Mr. Duke. He was sprawled on the floor, clutching his swollen wrist, cold sweat covering his forehead. He looked utterly pathetic.

All that arrogance from earlier was gone.

"Mr. Duke, do you remember what you promised me?" Lisbeth asked.

Sweat dripped into Mr. Duke's eyes, stinging so badly he couldn't open them. He wanted to curse, but with Sebastian standing right there, he swallowed it back.

"What did I promise? My head's a mess. I can't remember anything."

Lisbeth reminded him. "You said if we drank those glasses, you'd sign the contract."

Mr. Duke wiped his eyes with his good hand. Finally, he could see again. "You people did this to me. Why the hell would I sign anything now?"

Sebastian's gaze turned icy, looking at him like he was already dead.

Mr. Duke swallowed hard. His fat body squirmed on the floor, trying to get away from them. Right now, looking at Lisbeth and Quinn, he didn't find them attractive at all.

No woman was worth his life.

Lisbeth swayed slightly. Her mind was clear, but her body was still affected by the alcohol. A hand steadied her arm from behind.

She didn't need to turn around to know who it was.

He was willing to support her from behind, even if he didn't understand what she was doing. He still said nothing.

Lisbeth's voice was cold. "You gave me two choices earlier. Either drink and sign the contract, or don't drink and leave immediately. Now I'm giving you two choices."

She picked up the contract from the coffee table—wet from spilled drinks. Fortunately, only one corner was soaked. The text in the middle was still legible.

"You sign. Or I call the cops."

Mr. Duke, still on the floor, let out a twisted laugh. "Go ahead and call them. Let's see who comes out worse. All I did was make you drink a few glasses. You people assaulted me. My arm hurts. I think it's broken. I was planning to go to the hospital anyway!"

Quinn was so furious she wanted to kick him.

But that's how unfair the world was. A man harassing women—without evidence, without causing "real" harm—could get away with it.

Meanwhile, they'd used force. They were in the wrong.

Sebastian stood behind Lisbeth, his voice calm but his eyes ice-cold. "That's fine. The York Group has the strongest legal team in the country. However long you want to drag this out, I'm happy to oblige."

Money, lawyers—he had both.

Mr. Duke's face changed.

Lisbeth patted Sebastian's arm, signaling him to stay calm, not to get angry. "Mr. Duke, what kind of person do you think I am?"

Mr. Duke glared at her. He said nothing.

Bitch. Slut. Trash.

He cursed her viciously in his head, but didn't dare say a word out loud. He could talk tough all he wanted, but he really didn't want to get hit again.

His arm was still throbbing.

He wasn't exaggerating. He really thought it might be broken.

Lisbeth could probably guess what he was thinking. She reached into her pocket and sighed softly. "I just want to say—don't treat women like idiots."

Before coming here tonight, she'd done her homework on him. Mr. Duke wasn't just sleazy—he was a creep.

That label fit him perfectly.

If Lisbeth was going to come here, of course she'd prepared. She pulled out a hidden camera from her pocket. The footage clearly recorded everything that had happened in this private room—every cause and effect.

Including Mr. Duke forcing them to drink, threatening them with the contract, even trying to grope two women.

When Mr. Duke saw the video, his face went even paler than before.

"If I release this footage, Mr. Duke, I don't think you'll have an easy time explaining it."

Mr. Duke clenched his jaw and said nothing.

Lisbeth crouched down and said softly, "I remember Mr. Duke built his business with his father-in-law's support."

And Mrs. Duke was a very formidable woman. She didn't manage the company, but she kept her husband on a tight leash.

At least in front of Mrs. Duke, Mr. Duke didn't dare show even a hint of wandering eyes. Around other women, he acted like he wanted to stay 800 meters away.

All his dirty little secrets stayed hidden in the shadows, where Mrs. Duke couldn't see.

"You're ruthless."

Mr. Duke spat the words through gritted teeth. He could taste blood in his throat—whether from the beating or the rage, he wasn't sure.

His hand shook as he signed the contract.

At least Sebastian had grabbed his left hand earlier, not his right. He could still write.

Once he signed, the others naturally followed suit.

Three contracts secured in one night. Whatever these men's character or conduct, the companies behind them had serious capital. With this funding injection, Citrus Shine's cash flow problems were solved.

"You're impressive."

The other two executives helped Mr. Duke up to leave. The one on the left glanced back at Lisbeth, his eyes holding a mix of fear and admiration.

Lisbeth's lips twitched. "Thanks for the compliment."

After the group left, Lisbeth's legs gave out. She nearly collapsed, but Sebastian caught her in time. He turned to see Quinn already slumped on the couch.

She was even more drunk than Lisbeth.

Sebastian sighed inwardly and called Noah, who'd been waiting downstairs.

Between the two of them, they managed to get both women to the car.

After dropping off Quinn, they headed home with Lisbeth. Sebastian half-carried, half-supported her inside. It was late—he didn't want to wake Anna or the kids. His footsteps were light.

He didn't turn on the living room lights. Using only the moonlight streaming through the floor-to-ceiling windows, he climbed the stairs step by step.

The woman in his arms was surprisingly quiet. No drunken antics. No fuss.

He pushed open the bedroom door. With both hands holding her, he had to use his foot to close it behind him. He laid her gently on the bed and was about to stand up when the person who'd been so quiet, seemingly asleep the whole way home, suddenly wrapped her arms around his neck.

Sebastian froze. He didn't want to crush her, so he braced his hands on either side of her body, keeping some distance between them. He looked down at her.

"Faking it?"

Lisbeth opened her eyes drowsily. The smell of alcohol still clung to her, but she wasn't that out of it. Of course, she couldn't admit that now.

She buried her face in the crook of his neck.

"You're angry."

Sebastian said nothing. Silently, he tried to pry her arms away, but his movements were gentle—afraid of hurting her. So all Lisbeth had to do was hold on a little tighter, and he couldn't pull free.

They stayed locked like that for a moment. Finally, Sebastian sighed, giving in. "You're drunk. Get some sleep. We'll talk about this tomorrow, okay?"

Lisbeth peeked at him, then leaned close to his ear. "Then promise me you won't be angry."

Sebastian didn't know whether to laugh or cry. He was frustrated, but amused at the same time.

"Who's the one who screwed up here? How did this turn into you giving me orders?"

Lisbeth blinked, a little guilty. She knew what she'd done tonight was risky. But she'd had no other choice. "Anyway, I got what I wanted. Tonight's plan was pretty successful."

Sebastian laughed bitterly. "Putting yourself in danger—you call that success? Did you even think about what could've happened if I hadn't gotten there in time? If they'd put something in those drinks…"

He couldn't finish the sentence.

No one could bear that outcome.
