Chapter 154 Untitled Chapter
Samson is indeed a big player to them, but to me, he did the right thing. He turned to me and bowed his head with a smile on his face.
“Detective Lizzy, since I have brought them back to you, I think I should take my leave now.”
“Not so fast, dude, I am not done with you yet.” I signaled to one of the officers as Samson turned to leave, and he grabbed his collar.
“Where do you think you are going, Mr. Samson Dominic? I am not done with you yet.”
“What do you mean, Lizzy? I did what you asked of me, and I should be allowed to go.”
Really? Just like that? It doesn't work that way.
“Do you think I will release you like that because you brought them back to me? Absolutely not. You have successfully pushed yourself into my blacklist, and congratulations, you went against the law and will be locked in prison.”
His jaw dropped, and his eyes bulged out. “I can't believe this is what I get after doing the right thing. This isn't fair, Lizzy.”
“It is fair, Samson, and this is to show you that you cannot cross my line and go scot-free. I don't care who you are, and I don't care that you brought them back. All I care about is what you did, and you will be punished for that. Next time, you wouldn't meddle in the affairs that don't concern you. Elena is your girlfriend who is a murderer, yet you came into the headquarters and had her and her mom taken away so you could protect them from dying.”
Why am I even wasting time explaining to them what I am not supposed to? I should be taking them back to the headquarters by now and have them locked up until I am ready to interrogate them. For Samson, there is no need to interrogate him; he is going straight to jail for 4 months to reflect on his actions.
“Take them away!” I commanded, and the officers dragged them to the patrol cars.
As soon as the patrol cars drove out of the airport, I pulled out my phone from my pocket and dialed Noah’s number.
“Noah, we have arrested them, and right now they have been transported to the headquarters. Also, I don't expect you to plead with me to release your cousin because I will never do that.”
Noah chuckled softly over the phone. “I wasn't going to plead with you, Lizzy. Samson crossed your line, and I know what happened to those who provoked you.”
It's good that he knows because no matter what he says, I will never release Samson.
“Will you come to the headquarters now to interrogate Maureen and Elena together with me?” I asked, hoping he would say yes. I can do that by myself since it is my job, but I just want him to be there because he has been doing a lot to find Sophia, and also, he is always interested in interrogating Alex with me.
“Umm, I am so sorry, Lizzy. Right now, I am a bit occupied at the company, and I wouldn't be able to come. Whatever you guys talk about, when I come by later, tell me about it. okay?”
Oh, Noah has never turned me down this way before. Anyway, it's alright. It might be because this thing is so important to him.
“That is fine. When you come over, I will tell you about it.”
I ended the call, sighed deeply, and got inside the car.
As soon as I stepped inside the headquarters, Samson’s voice was the first thing I heard from the cell. He was screaming that he had been locked up when he didn't commit any crime that would warrant that.
Is he kidding me or what? Doesn't he know that running away with criminals is one of the biggest offenses that a citizen will ever commit in their life?
“Shut that dude up, officers. Can't you see that he is disturbing the peace of this place?”
“We have been trying to, Detective Lizzy, but Mr. Samson will not keep quiet. He said, “Nobody can stop him from ranting.”
“And you decide to leave him because he said that? Come on, dude. Go keep him shut, or I will keep him shut by myself.” I removed my gun from my waist, blowing on the tip.
“We will, Detective Lizzy,” they chuckled and hurried away.
I don't know what they told him, but Samson went mute.
“Maureen and Elena are in the interrogation room waiting for you, Detective Lizzy. Do you want me to transfer them to your office, or will you go meet them in the interrogation room?”
“The interrogation room will be much better,” I said, waving my fingers. The officer nodded his head and left, then I headed towards my office to take some pills. These days, I have been feeling a lot of headaches and dizziness because I haven't been getting enough sleep, and I don't even remember the last time I took food into my mouth.
Since my baby went missing, I lost my appetite, and sleep disappeared from my eyes. Every night, I cried, holding my pillow because I know that wherever Sophia is, she isn't sleeping either, and she isn't eating anything either.
Her eyes must be swollen from crying too much now, and I fear that my baby will develop an illness that will disturb her life.
I swear I will never spare anyone who has a hand in this. What does a little girl know for them to vent out their anger on her? They should have opted for me instead since I am the one they are after.
“Maureen?” I called as soon as I stepped inside the interrogation room. “I will only ask you guys once, and if you refuse to tell me the truth, I will be forced to use that electric wire on you.”
They followed the direction of my fingers and saw the electric wire hanging on the wall. “You want to use that thing on us, Lizzy? I am so disappointed in you, and I regret raising you, wretched bitch!” She slammed the desk with her hand furiously.
No, she isn't the one who should be regretting; it is my parents who should be regretting handing me over to a wicked witch like her.
“Where is my daughter!” I screamed at them, my voice piercing the walls.
