Georgina Ricci's POV THE PITTER patter of tiny footsteps, the constant whining of these little angels, the messes they create everyday, the bull-headed and little brains, is not something that someone would want to hear constantly in their everyday life, Is not a life someone would want to indulge. But, for me? These little strong-willed creatures were my life. Their constant high-pitched complaining cries or sounds are much like a music to my ears. My friends and those people who know me well, call me the saint because I have as much patience of a saint . I love what I do and so as these adorable, articulative kids whom I spend most of my days with. A typical routine, whom I devoted my time to and , I enjoy every bit of it. All these simple things in life that I have come to love, I never thought would change one day. "Miss. G, Grayson called me a poodle." Kate cried, tugging at my pants trying to get my attention. I tore my eyes away from the kids playing while chatting and looked down at a blonde little Kate, with her rounded green dough like eyes gazing up at me, trying to stifle her tears while narrating her sentiments. "Grayson honey, will you please come over here?" I beckoned the copperhead, brown eyed little man. He was fiddling his fingers as he looks at me warily, approaching us. Kate was looking at him with annoyance, wiping her eyes with the back of her hand. "Why did you call Kate a poodle, will you please explain to us why?" I asked nicely as I squatted until we are all eye level. I wiped the smile off of my face and replaced it with a serious no-nonsense face to make him confess. Daniella was eyeing us every once in a while with curiosity. "I'm sorry Miss. G. , I'm just teasing her. I didn't mean to make her cry." Grayson apologized, staring me in the eyes with his soft brown eyes that could melt even a rock. This kid sure knows how to use his charm to his advantage. "Will you tease her again?" I asked, my tone dripping with a warning, albeit rather softly. "No, Ms. G." He replied, looking down on the floor. Then, he turned his gaze to little Kate. "He always does!" Little Kate stressed out not believing him, as she shot him with a hateful look. "He promised not do it again, Kate," I smiled at Kate reassuringly, but she just pouted. I ignored it and plastered a smile back on my face. "What do you say to Kate, Grayson?" I asked the little man, encouragingly. "I'm sorry Kate." He turned his eyes to her as he apologized, then he looked at me waiting for my permission to leave. "And?" I added... thrusting up my one eyebrow, urging him to say the words I needed to hear. "And, I won't do it again." He continued on as he shifted his eyes to Kate, then back to me. "Now what will you say, Kate?" I asked shifting my attention back to Kate, and she pouted again. "It's ok, Grayson. Apology accepted." She replied reluctantly, but still she never smiled. I ignored her stubbornness and let her slip this time. I know she isn't the friendly one amongst them, but I knew one day, she would be leaving this room as friendly as the others. As soon as Grayson heard her response, he turned on his heel and ran back to his friends. Kate soon scampered back to her group of friends. I sighed and smiled. These kids wore me out by the end of the day, but I would never replace this job for anything in the world. Kids are angels and they bring so much fun. Their innocence brings laughter, smiles and made her feel loved. I have fifteen kids under my care and has one assistant, Ms. Daniella who helped me with the fifteen kids of four years old. She became one of my close friends, too. I work as a pre-school teacher at the New York Montessori. The morning is usually the busiest and craziest time for Daniella and me. When the parents dropped their kids, I had to maintain my upbeat aura to create a fun environment and makes the kids feel excited and not feel sadness when their parents finally take their leave after dropping them off. Usually, the mornings was filled with cries, as the kids felt abandoned after their daddies or mommies left them. Or each one teases the other until one got so affected and started to cry. Or one is sick or they need to go pee or poop. And when the clock struck eleven, everyone warmed up in each other's presence, then the fun starts for them, and for Daniella and me. "It's Friday G, got any plans tonight?" asked Daniella as she puts all the stuffed animals in the designated bins. We only have one kid left and it's already four in the afternoon. "Yes. With Anthony." I grinned, biting my bottom lip. I know my eyes light up like a flashlight with just the sound of Anthony's name. "Yay, good for you!" Daniella cheered, then she giggled. I beamed at her proudly. "Thanks," I replied giving her my widest smile. "So who's picking Francis up?" I asked after, looking at the little boy play animatedly with the blocks, not caring about being left alone. Usually, the Junior kindergarten class starts at nine and ends at three-thirty. Parents can also pick them up later in case they are working late, but only until five. Daniella and I were done tidying up the room and putting all of the materials away in their designated places and got ready to hit our respective homes, well until Francis is picked up. Speaking of home, It reminded me of the money my dad owed the Massaretti Financial Bancorp. Dad spent all of his money in gambling after my mom died, drinking until he'd passed out, or ran out of stocks in the bar, and sleeping with any tramp who cares about nothing but his money. His business was liquidated after his burial from different financial groups, and there's only one left that dad hasn't paid yet and our family house was in collateral.
