Chapter 48 The Truth, It's Slowly Beginning to Surface

Chapter 48 The Truth, It's Slowly Beginning to Surface
After Sophia left Henry's side, she went back to the station to get Quinn to help her check on someone.
"I say Sophia, why are you always me lately asking to check on such decades old people?"
Quinn was puzzled as she took a black and white picture of a person Sophia had handed over and cut out of a newspaper.
She was beginning to suspect that she was working for the Antiques Bureau, not the police department.
"Don't ask any more questions, just check it out." Sophia was anxious for results.
Quinn looked at the photo of the man, the man was wearing a business suit, a hint of rigour in his gentle looks, his expression was serious, it was obvious that he was the type of person who took things seriously.
This type of man is quite to Quinn's liking, she held her chin and asked, "What's this man's name?"
"Mark Hall."
"Besides his name, is there any information about his current place of residence?" Quinn asked as she went to the computer to look it up.
Sophia told her, "All I know is that he quit his job and went back to his hometown, I want you to find out where his hometown is, I'm going to look for him."
"I'll put the photos in the database to match them first, it might take a while, do you want to wait here or I'll send you the results on your phone when they come out?"
Sophia thought for a moment and said decisively, "I'll wait here!"
Sophia didn't want to delay, once the results came out, she would immediately move.
"Okay, I'll find out and give it to you as soon as possible." Quinn was still very righteous, putting her first.
Sophia poured a glass of water to drink from the water fountain when the phone rang, she picked it up and saw that it was Troy calling.
Sophia answered the phone, "Hello?"
"It's me, Troy."
"I know, what can I do for you?"
"I'm in front of the police station, I'd like to have a word with you."
Sophia raised an eyebrow, he'd come all the way over to see her for something he could have explained on the phone?
Anyway, there's nothing much going on right now, Sophia went over there, from afar she saw Troy standing in front of the police station waiting, dressed in a suit, looking at his watch every now and then, don't say it, it's quite like picking up his girlfriend from work.
"What do you want from me?" Sophia walked over and asked him directly.
Troy walked up to her and said, "I heard that you went to see my second master again."
"Yeah, you're pretty well informed."
Troy smiled and said, "Because I was curious about your relationship with my second master, I sent someone to keep an eye out."
"That's quite frank of you." Sophia began to get distracted, and she did look down at her watch every now and then, wondering if Quinn had gotten Mark's old home address yet.
Troy had been keeping an eye on her, and when he saw the valuable antique watch on her wrist, he gave a grudging smile, "I meant to ask last time, this watch, who gave it to you?"
His mind is heavier, last time at the auction he specially left that watch collector's contact information, asking him to detail the price of Sophia's watch.
As it turned out, the watch was indeed unique and privately made, the price and its expensive, and not something that an ordinary person could afford to give away.
"A friend gave it to me." Sophia didn't want to reveal too much to him.
But Troy was very curious, "It's a male, right?"
"Why do you ask if you know?" Sophia didn't resist choking out a sentence, but reacting that it wasn't very polite, she added in embarrassment, "I'm sorry, there was an emergency, so I spoke a bit hastily."
"That's okay, I took offence." Troy had the good sense to point out what he shouldn't have said.
Sophia looked at him, originally didn't want to say anything, but after thinking about it, she still told him, "In fact, in the future, in this situation, you can just call me directly to talk to me, there's no need to make a special trip over here."
"It's me who wants to see you." Troy wasn't hiding anything anymore.
Sophia sighed, then said, "What a coincidence, I'm the opposite of you, I don't want to see you."
The words are a bit heavy, but this is her Sophia, since it's impossible, don't leave hope for the other party, hanging on to the other party, treating the other party as a spare tyre this kind of thing, she can't do it.
Troy smiled bitterly, "I seem to have been rejected by you twice already."
"Don't be so sentimental, bro, be strong." Sophia, like a good buddy, patted his shoulder to comfort him before leaving on the pretext that she had something to do.
Troy looked at her back for a long time before he reluctantly withdrew his gaze.
Only when he retracted it, Troy suddenly noticed something, and he suddenly raised his head again!
Then, rubbing his eyes, Troy looked confused, what happened? Did he see wrong?
I think he just saw it, there was a shadow that flashed by!
It was a man wearing a white shirt, right behind Sophia, with a gold-rimmed glasses on his face, his brows were at peace with the years, his appearance looked mature, his age should be around thirty-something.
Handsome as if the ancient Greek statue of a male god, he smiled slightly, everything around him seemed to be dimmed.
Troy was stunned to the ground, although it was only a glimpse, the figure disappeared in an instant, but the man's appearance was deeply imprinted in his mind, lingering for a long time.
"Am I, am I seeing an angel?"
Troy muttered, in fact, his first reaction was to think that he had seen a ghost, but then he thought, how could there be a ghost that looks that good?
Legend has it that good people are sheltered by angels around them, and that man, no doubt, was her angel.
"Wait, what am I talking about?"
Troy shook his head, trying to bring his consciousness back to reality and not ramble on.
In the end, Troy chalked up what he'd just experienced as a "psychic event" to "seeing things"!
Quinn was very efficient and it didn't take long to get the results to Sophia.
Mark's hometown is in California, although the distance is a bit far, but Sophia still did not say anything, back to the home simply pack clothes and go.
Sophia arrived in California that afternoon.
After an afternoon flight, Sophia didn't think to find a place to rest, and continued on her way as soon as she got off the plane.
The rural areas of California are relatively remote and harsh, and the roads are steep.
Sophia hitched a ride on a truck that was carrying a load of potatoes, and it just so happened that the grandfather knew which family she was looking for, so he gave her a ride there.
Sophia was crammed in with a load of potatoes, and after a bumpy ride, she finally arrived at a family's doorstep, and after thanking the grandfather, Sophia jumped out of the car.
The farm was large, at the end of the road was a small house with pumpkins in the window sill, a field of corn in the yard, and an old grandpa feeding the chickens.
Sophia went up to the old man and greeted him, explaining why she was there and showing him a picture of Mark that she had cut out of a newspaper.
When the old man took a look, he burst into tears and choked, "This is my second brother."
Sophia took one look and understood what was going on, she said politely, "He, has left?"
The old man touched his tears and said, "My second brother hasn't come back since he left home, presumably, he died somewhere long ago."
"Grandpa, you said, he didn't come back?" Sophia felt strange as she said, "Didn't he go back home after he quit his job?"
"It was about thirty years ago, we did receive letters that he was going to come back, but we waited and waited, we just didn't see him come back for a long time, then we really couldn't wait for him to come back, so we gave up, and we only know that that winter, everyone was not well and happy." The old man kept shaking his head and sighing.
Sophia looked at Mark's photo, about more than thirty years old or so, his height should not be too short, and, still thirty years ago in the winter ......
Sophia suddenly thought of something, her eyes suddenly widened and goosebumps rose.
Could it be that the corpse that had been buried for more than thirty years was Mark!
It's not that he didn't come back, but on the way back home, he met a mudslide and couldn't come back ......
So, more than thirty years later, the old car that was buried under the ground was dug up and the deceased was able to see the light of day.
After that, she began to be taken to the era when William was still alive.
The truth, slowly began to surface ......
