Chapter 73 | Forget about problems
"I will definitely take care of this matter properly, Caroline, and protect you. I don't care who my opponent is," said Dexson as he gently stroked Caroline's head.
"Hopefully we can face them," Caroline muttered.
"Of course. We have to be sure that they won't be able to fight us, and you will definitely be fine," Dexson said firmly.
"Thank you, Dexson," Caroline replied, staring intently at Dexson.
"Caroline, is Jack the man your parents have chosen for you?" asked Dexson.
Caroline immediately hit Dexson's arm, because Dexson always brought up Jack's name.
"Of course not. Why do you always bring up Jack?" Caroline grumbled with an annoyed expression.
"I was just guessing. You and he are quite close," Dexson replied.
"And maybe your parents know about your closeness with Jack," he continued.
"They do know, and they know Jack well. But they would never set me up with Jack," Caroline said.
"Why not? Jack is also quite well-respected," asked Dexson.
Caroline was even more annoyed by Dexson cornering her about Jack.
"My father and mother would never give their blessing," Caroline grumbled.
"Oh. I see, maybe because Jack has a bad past?" Dexson guessed with a slight smile.
"Yes," replied Caroline with an annoyed expression, without looking at Dexson.
"Good," muttered Dexson, unheard by Caroline.
Dexson deliberately brought up Jack, afraid that Caroline was in love with him.
But now he understood that Caroline was still unable to open her heart to any man because of her painful past.
"Dexson, please don't bring Jack up again, he won't be involved in this matchmaking," Caroline said with a pleading look.
"Okay. I'm sorry," Dexson apologized.
"It seems that this man also has a strong power, to the point that my own father chose him to be my life partner," said Caroline.
"No matter how powerful he is, if he doesn't love you, you will never be happy, Caroline. You will only suffer," said Dexson.
"That's what I'm afraid of, Dexson," whispered Caroline.
"Don't think about it anymore, we will definitely find a way out. If you're okay and we can get rid of them, your parents won't force you, right?" Dexson said, stroking Caroline's head.
"Maybe," replied Caroline.
"I have to start taking action and find out where Gicreo and Damian are. I don't want to regret being too late," Dexson muttered to himself.
Dexson felt that his toughest opponents were not Gicreo or Damian. It was Caroline's parents, because they had arranged Caroline's marriage.
"If I fail to protect Caroline again, I could lose her. That can't happen!" Dexson said to himself with an angry expression.
"I should have agreed when my parents wanted to kill Damian, if this is how it ends up," Caroline said with a look of regret.
"Even though I'm not satisfied because his death was too quick and he didn't suffer like I did. But it's okay, rather than creating new problems that are much more difficult," she continued.
"Caroline, listen to me." Dexson touched Caroline's cheek to get her to look at him.
"Never regret your past decisions, because everything is predetermined by fate. Just do your best, because every problem has a solution," said Dexson as he gently caressed Caroline's cheek.
"I'm sorry. Maybe my attitude and thoughts are still like a child's," Caroline replied softly.
"That's right. You are like a baby, an adorable baby." Dexson said that while laughing loudly.
"Dexson! You're so annoying. You're never serious and you're just mocking me," Caroline shouted with an annoyed expression.
She also hit Dexson's body because she couldn't hold back her anger.
Dexson laughed even harder because he didn't feel any pain from Caroline's blows.
"Don't laugh! There's nothing funny," Caroline growled.
"Who says there's nothing funny? You're very funny, especially when you're angry," Dexson said as he hugged Caroline tightly.
Caroline struggled, telling Dexson to let go of her.
"Let go, don't hug me like this," Caroline growled as she hit Dexson's body.
Dexson just laughed and had no intention of letting go of Caroline.
"Dexson, don't do this. Oh my god, don't tickle my waist. It's so ticklish," said Caroline, laughing loudly.
"Dexson. Enough, I can't take it anymore," she continued, pleading.
Dexson stopped what he was doing and looked at Caroline with a slight smile.
"It's better for you to laugh like this and forget about your problems," said Dexson.
"Don't do this either, you're going to make me pee my pants," said Caroline with an annoyed expression.
Dexson just smiled as he released his embrace.
"But thank you, Dexson. You tried to cheer me up," said Caroline.
"I'll try to always make you happy," replied Dexson.
Caroline just smiled slightly in response to Dexson's words.
That night, Caroline asked Dexson to take her shopping. There were also several guards escorting them.
Someone had already brought their groceries home. However, Dexson and Caroline were still enjoying their time together. They each bought some street food.
"Dexson, I haven't relaxed like this in a long time. Shopping to my heart's content and enjoying delicious street food," said Caroline enthusiastically.
"Why didn't you tell me? If you had told me, I wouldn't have refused to accompany you," Dexson said while looking at Caroline.
"I felt bad for you, you've been working hard all day," Caroline replied with a smile.
"Next time, just tell me. My job isn't that hard. I won't refuse you," said Dexson.
"Okay," said Caroline. Dexson, who was amused by Caroline's behavior, chuckled softly while gently ruffling Caroline's hair.
Caroline's eyes were focused on the street ice cream vendor, which was one of her favorite ice creams.
"Dexson. Let's go there, I want to buy it. It's very delicious," said Caroline enthusiastically while grabbing Dexson's hand.
"Okay," replied Dexson with a smile.
They then ordered two large portions. It was the most delicious street ice cream according to Caroline.
"It's so delicious," said Caroline with a happy expression.
"I want to try yours," she continued.
Caroline had deliberately ordered a different flavor.
"Can I?" Caroline asked with a pleading look.
"Don't look at me like that. You can have as much as you want," Dexson replied.
Caroline giggled, then took the ice cream. Dexson smiled slightly, seeing Caroline looking happy and forgetting her problems.
