Chapter One Hundred And Nineteen.
“But how can the Chairman do that to you?!” Monica screeched in fury, her eyes burning with furious tears, “It’s not like this is your first rodeo! How can he make you answer to Aria?!”
Nathan stood by the floor to ceiling windows in his living room, listening to his wife berate him. He was seething, still angered by the events that had happened earlier that day in the company.
He had finally agreed to stay back on in the company and assist Aria. Although it was really beneath him, this was the only way he could stay back at the company and also be able to monitor Aria.
They say keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.
Aria was his sworn enemy the moment the finance Director announced that the Nexus Logistics project was a success.
He could not believe that the country bumpkin had been able to see through months of research and actually made a mockery of him.
The news had spread around the company like wild fire, and Nathan had received mocking stares from the lowly employees beneath him as he left the company that day.
These were people who would normally scurry out of his way whenever he was approaching. They still did the same thing but he could sense the pocket in their gestures now.
It was as though he lost his authority…no, he did lose his authority.
Although the Chairman let him retain his Director status, he was still not as powerful as Aria was currently and he could not interfere in any of the projects or bids she was in charge of.
Not only that, he’d been made to give up almost all his shares to pay back fur the loses incurred in the Crown Avenue projects.
Nathan had been livid, then had become desperate when he realized that he’d become penniless if all his assets were used in paying off the debt.
He tried to convince the Chairman and Lucian to him another chance but they were not having it.
Eventually, they took it all and left him with only a measly six percent left.
But it was worth it, right?
He still had his position at the company and he’d be able to keep tabs on Aria.
Come to think of it, it was about time he called Kurt and tell him of this new development.
Monica suddenly grabbed his shoulders and swung him to face her.
“Are you listening to me?!” She screeched in his face, her face contorted into a snarl, “Why would you let the Chairman do that?!”
Nathan brushed off her hands fiercely, “What do you mean, how could I let him?!” He asked, his nostrils flying with anger, “He’s the freaking Chairman! What the fuck did you expect me to do in front of him?!”
Monica stepped back, laughing in disdain, “I can’t believe you’ve already become this useless,” she uttered fiercely, “Tell me, were you always like this?!”
Nathan stepped closer to say in her face, “Just freaking shut up!”he gritted out at her, “I stayed back at the office so I could at least leave traces of me there. I can also put tabs on her and try to see if I can destroy her earlier. But all you know how to do is scream right?”
“Shut up!” Monica shot back, “Am I doing this for my own good?! Tell me, if you’ve been stripped of your powers, how can we make our plans work?! Aria is becoming more and more powerful than you and you expect me to sit still?!”
Nathan grabbed a hold of her hand and pulled her closer to him, saying through gritted teeth, “You forgot we have an ace card. Kurt Eugene,” he uttered, “We only have to call him to know that he is onboard.”
Monica paused, her anger drying off quickly as her eyes widened with delight.
“That’s right!” She said with a sigh of relief, “We still have Kurt Eugene of the Vaughn Empire.”
“The Vaughn Empire is as powerful as the Graves Empire,” Nathan went on, walking towards a corner of the living room, where there was a small bar.
He took a hold of a decanter which had wine in it and drank straight from it without bothering to pour into a glass.
“If there’s anyone who can go against the Graves Empire, it would have to be the Vaughn Empire,” he continued, “We only just have to sit back and assist with whatever we can while Kurt Eugene handles everything from his end.”
Monica had a sly smirk on her lips as she walked closer to Nathan, her arms crossed haughtily, “What about Lucian?” She asked, her voice low and deceptive.
Nathan paused and frowned slightly at her, “What about him?”
Monica frowned, eying Nathan in displeasure, “Need I remind you that he needs to get out of the picture as well?”she uttered, “You failed to kill him off three years ago! Don’t you think you should be thinking of how to try again?!”
Nathan turned away from her, his teeth on edge.
Damn, he’d forgotten all about Lucian.
He’d been so preoccupied with taking Aria out that he’d completely forgotten about Lucian.
Yes, he did need to get rid of Lucian as well.
Three years ago, he’d made a mistake by keeping Lucian alive even after he’d ended up staying in a coma.
“I should have killed him off completely the fortnight’s was brought home,”
He muttered grimly to himself.
Well, since three years ago failed to work out, then it would be no problem to try it again.
And this time, he would not make the same silly mistake to keep them alive even if they ended up in a coma.
He would have to be much more stricter with the methods this time around.
Especially since there was also another person to add to the fray.
“Aria Beaumont and Lucian Graves, you both are going down!”
