Chapter 101 Ruin Things For Him!
Chapter One Hundred
The Host stood at the podium and looked round at them, his voice calm and composed.
“She offered a lower immediate extraction,” he continued, “but a higher long-term valuation. The board chose stability over greed.”
His gaze swept the room, glaring at all of them in accusation, “She didn’t win because of who she is.”
He turned to Aria, smiling in gratitude,
“She won because she understood what this company is actually worth.”
Nathan was flabbergasted as he watched what was going on.
“How could that happen?” Selena uttered loudly, pointing at the Host threateningly, “You’re definitely trying to hide something.”
The Host gave Selena a glare, “Miss, we do not care who you are, but we can assure you that your opinion does not really matter.” He said sternly, “If you interrupt the proceedings once more, I’ll have you thrown out.”
At those words the hall fell silent and no one dared to stand up to challenge the host once more.
Even Selena slowly lowered herself into her seat, her face burning with humiliation.
Seeing that all her opposition had been shut down, Aria smirked satisfactorily , then walked to the podium.
Zach grinned happily as he saw that everything was okay.
The host had outrightly defended Aria, and that was very good . He must have had a very good impression on her.
He let out a low whistle as he started clapping with vigor once more, “That’s more like it! Whoo!”
Aria took a hold of the acquisition documents and signed them, the applause rising from every corner of the hall.
Nathan was breathing hard, unable to believe what he’d just witnessed. How could this happen?
He glared at Kurt from where he sat. He had put so much hope in the fact that Kurt would win the bid and he’d have a chance to humiliate Aria but now nothing of that sort has happened!
Selena was also seething as she watched the proceedings.
She imagined what her father would say when he heard that Aria had actually won the bid at the event he’d sent Selena to, to learn the ropes.
He would definitely think Aria was the best candidate fit for taking over the company.
What a joke!
As soon as Aria signed the documents and stepped down from the stage, the main part of the event was over.
She walked to her seat, and everyone rose from theirs, eager to meet her and greet her.
It was all ridiculous now.
Before she’d won the bid, she’d been treated like someone who was not worth anything.
But now, they all flocked to her, trying to get a word or two and trying to let her know about their company and their names.
Kurt and Vera saw this and they were really pissed.
Vera especially looked like she wanted to march up to Aria and slap her across the face, demanding why she would ruin their plans that way.
Kurt had actually had plans to buy the firm as soon as Elara had died. He would never have thought of doing that when she was alive.
This was because he had copied a patent of theirs and Elara would have known it immediately if he’d bought the company.
She was that thorough.
He’d finally thought he’d have the chance to own it now that she was dead.
If he had, he would have secured his position in the Vaughn Empire and the Board of Directors would see that there was potential in him after all.
But then another bitch had appeared to challenge him. It was all so frustrating for Kurt but he would not lose hope.
Since Aria Beaumont wanted to show her face before him, he will gladly accept the challenge. He would make sure that he made her pay for this humiliation she’d cost him.
With that, he and Vera moved towards Aria as well. Aria saw them coming, their faces lit with fake smiles and she could not help but grimace in displeasure.
“Aria Beaumont.” Kurt uttered as he stood before Aria, a charming smile on his face, “I don’t think we’ve been introduced to each other properly.”
Aria gave him a stiff smile, “We’ve already been introduced, Mr Eugene.” She uttered in a cold monotone, “I believe it’s not our first time meeting. We’ve met at the shopping mall once, remember?”
Kurt’s face froze and Vera’s own smile dried off to be replaced by a twisted snarl, “What?!”
Kurt gave her a sharp look, a warning for her to rein in her anger, but Vera retaliated with a sharp dig of her finger nails on his arm.
“What the hell?!” He hissed at her as he felt the pain in his arm.
Vera let go of him and faced Aria squarely, “Miss Aria Beaumont, I know you must think you’ve won but let me tell you that you haven’t,” she said through gritted teeth, “why on earth did you come here today?!”
Aria shrugged, “I don’t know. To win a bid?” She held up the document and grinned devilishly.
“You!…” Vera was red in the face, pissed as hell, “How dare you?! You only did this to make things hard for Kurt as well, didn’t you?!”
Kurt pulled her back sharply, “Vera stop!” He hissed at her, “What the hell is wrong with you?!”
“What do you mean make things hard Kurt?” Aria asked with a slight tilt of her head as though she was genuinely puzzled.
“Do not mind her at all, Aria,” Kurt quickly replied, trying his best to play the part of the ‘nice guy’, “I think she’s having her cramps or something.”
“I don’t know,” Aria uttered, crossing her arms and giving them both the once over, “I think she’s acting more like a jealous girlfriend or something.”
Vera gasped softly, her face turning red from embarrassment and guilt, “You!…” she started, panicking, “You don’t know what it is that you’re saying!”
“Don’t I?” Aria uttered, taking slow deliberate steps, “You’re stuck to his side like a piece of gum under an old shoe.”
“What?!” Vera was livid, “What did you just call me?!”
“I only said the truth, darling,” Aria uttered as she patted Vera’s hair softly, then she leaned in to say in her ear, “And I don’t want to make things hard for Kurt. I want to RUIN things for Kurt!”
